  1. Studies show weight loss surgery often leads to higher rates of broken bones. Take your calcium citrate.
  2. Welcome Mike! Don't assume anything, Just get the job done. In a year your life will be SO different. enjoy both rides!
  3. Sooo cute! Pencil skirt and sweet heart blouse... def qualifies as a lbd!
  4. You gotta do what you gotta do. When I got it in my mind to get surgery, nothing would stop me. It was almost over night for me. Now I have 0 regrets. Its not always that easy, but if/when you ever do get the surgery, you won't regret it. ....I did not want or get surgery for many years before finally changing my mind....
  5. When I was in high school I went on a diet and lost 20 pounds. I also followed the advice of "facinating womanhood" this kind of creepy book that gives advice on how to attract men... or make them happy.... I lost the weight and started wearing my moms cloths... in about a week I had two guys ask me to the prom. I cooled off pretty quick to the 'non me" advice of the book, and yep, you guessed it, they retracted the offer. Of course, I wasn't being the real me either... so I guess I cant really blame them.
  6. I def get more attention from guys. I really don't know what to do with it sometimes, I am almost 59 and its been a while sense I have had this much attention! It is the size, but also the confidence. I also dress different. I used to wear black all the time. I LOVED black. I also love color, but when I would put it on, it just made my skin crawl and I had to take it off. Now when I wear black I feel invisible. I guess that says something about why I was wearing it in the first place? I crave color now... and pattern and texture. Its like I DID get brain surgery.
  7. Luckily I get a full feeling before it comes to upchucking....sometimes I hick-up when Im full, or my nose runs. If I feel a little too full, I sometimes sit up really straight, and lift my chest/ribs for a bit, to stretch out my stomach. This usually helps the too full feeling pretty quickly. I get full with less food in the morning, dense protein I get full faster, and sometimes other things make it happen too... pasta for one. I can eat 2 cups of soup or salad/chopped raw veggies.... It must really empty out fast!
  8. vitamin D deficiency might cause increased pain. http://www.webmd.com/pain-management/features/vitamin-d-deficiency-and-chronic-pain-link
  9. Because of her I bought an ice cream maker, a mini muffin tin and a mini donut tin! Also found a great low carb baking mix (Bobs red mill low carb baking mix... from Netrition.com)
  10. Don't get discouraged, I "surf" the sight, and once you get on a thread you are interested in, she really links up more of the same recipes and such. I find when I just follow the page down, lots of interesting photos and recipes show up. Search for a broad area, such as an ingrediant, or topic like pizza or desert... and you will find what you are looking for.... like this: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2008/06/pizza-ice-cream-party-post-wls-style.html Pizza and ice cream party!
  11. Im the same way! My scale stopped working, and I went without for a week... about went nuts. When I finally got another one I had gained 4 pounds! I know part of it was me. but I'm pretty sure the scale weighs me in at least a pound over the last one... and the pattern of my weight fluctuation is completely different on this scale as well. It is supposed to be more accurate than the last, but I seem to stay exactly the same to the 1/10th of a pound for days on end. Oh well! As long as my cloths fit the same or get looser Im good!
  12. Globe...I have to agree with Coops, there is a point where you have to find serenity.... you are working it as hard as you can, (which is bloody harder than I am I might add) and call it good. You have already transformed what percentage of your personal goal? It must be at least 90%....perhaps your body is trying to tell you something....you might be closer to 100% than you want. Perhaps the workout you need most now is self kindness and gratitude. You ARE good enough now... you always were.
  13. ... the Bariatric Advantage Choc chewables but they are like chalk... Are you talking about the giant horse pills about the size of a quarter? They have 500 megs each pill. The wild cherry ones are much better..sort of sweet tart like, but still chalky... if you are worried about the cost... the big bottle of the Bariatric Advantage chewables is the best deal in town. Around $44 for three months worth (270 count). http://www.bariatricadvantage.com/catalog/categoryHandler?cat=Bariatric%20Advantage%20:%20Calcium%20:%20Chewables&expand=1
  14. I missed a couple of dance classes because my knee was bugging me, I really miss it! But my knee feels better for the rest-up. I hate to hex it, but I did lose 1 pound today... after not losing for EVER. (it seems!) I will have to see if its a fluke tomorrow.... fingers crossed!
  15. yummmmm dreamfields... I made a zucchini/mushroom/dreamfields pasta bake a couple of days ago... so good! Sort of like lasagna. I have to eat what I like, and most of the time that is perfectly health stuff... once in a while, not so much... but I really depend on restriction too. Sometime I add in more veggies if I feel like I need to eat more and don't have the calories to spare. Im sure many "normal" people do the same. Its all about having the right stuff ready to eat in the house ready to grab. When I go out I rely on restriction only, and its working!
  16. This is a great time to make life style changes. A little change can make a big difference in the long run. Coming here has really helped me in so many ways too. Its a remarkable place filled with remarkable people! Someone should make a movie...Oprah where are you!
  17. Coops, My weight is stuck, but I have lost a little in the measurement department. The body IS a funny thing! I sure as heck cant figure mine out! I just found some Ralph Lauren summer pants at the thrift store in a size 12 that fit (almost too tight... which looks pretty good if I do say so myself!) I think the fat is shifting around or something. I remember Tiffikins saying something about that a while ago... same weight, different shape.
  18. I lost 89% in the first year. And I ate carbs and vegetarian. It's a miracle!
  19. This may be a silly question, but hows the Water intake? Sounds a lot like dehydration too....using caffein? Just checking....
  20. So nice to be able to check in with you guys every morning! Congrats on the goals and accomplishments.
  21. 174 this morning. My low which I only achieved on 3 days over about 3 months...was 170.4. I slowed almost to a stop for the last 3 months. I had gained 3 pounds over holidays, then lost it, then sort of bounced around the 3+ pounds molstly at the high end. sad face. I do pretty much eat what I want...not always good... but I do write everything down and keep the cals between 1200- 1400 most days. I walk 2+ days a week for about 45mins-hour , take bellydance dance classes twice a week at 1+ hours each. At work I sit a lot and walk around and do stuff some times too. I have a walking class, and that is when i get my walk in most of the time. I think I might be at my low weight....but I guess I could still lose a pound or so. I am still 7-9 pounds from my modest goal of 165, 5' 81/2" tall. My measurements did go down in the last month though, a little. NOT from my boobs! So that is fab! I guess time will tell... what our actions result in. I hope I can lose a few, and not end up weighing more than I do now. I like myself... flabby and all....I look pretty sleek in clothing, so that has been fun. My husband does not want me to lose more. He is trying to eat better, and that is a good thing that had rubbed off on him. I guess over the next months and years we will see! Stay in touch everyone, its nice to talk with others in the same "boat".
  22. Do you have access to a counselor? S/He might be able to help you figure out why your are having such trouble doing what the Nut wants. Dig it out girl! You can do it! Come here for support. It can be really hard for many reasons. Don't give up.
  23. Best of luck to all you gals! It is a transformational experience. I get to see my demons close up, I get to experience quick change, I get to be seen in a different way, to do a positive make over. Get into fighting weight so I can go have more adventures and be up for it physically and mentally. Getting geared up to meet some goals. To set some goals that reflect my higher self. To practice some grace and loving kindness. This weight loss thing has been something I have felt a failure at....so now I just might be able to say I am not a failure at this any more....and set that down too. More power to you all for going this way and having these new opportunities opening up in your life.
