  1. Glad there is no leak and you are getting good care now. Speedy recovery! HUGS!!!!
  2. Thanks! I have been meaning to make a vegetarians sticky post.... but had that awful flu going around... I will try to get to it this week. There are plenty of good veg sources of protein... Keep an eye out, I will do a post soon.
  3. I was standing with a couple of people I know, one I have known (not well) for 20+ years.....before I gained so much weight.... The other one asked me "does it feel weird to lose all that weight and look the way you do now?" and the old friend said "No! THIS is the real her... the other one was not the real her." He really got how I feel. How I now feel authentic. When I was fat, I always worked to look nice, and to look authentic, but I was always changing clothing, like I was looking for something that worked... but what I really need to do was lose 85 pounds to look like ME. He could see that. He could see I was owning my body now... and I never quiet was at 85 pounds heavier. Here is a pic of me from last night....at the art show opening I was at...
  4. How frustrating! I know what others say about calories calories out... but there IS something else going on too. Don't know what, but there is something. My "baseline" level of calories expended can not be what the charts say. Even if my resting rate is lower than normal, and my calories in are 2-300 calories more a day than I figure for some reason, I should be losing faster. I guess wah wah, crying doesn't help, and thats the way it goes, but it would be nice to be able to get control over that extra bit of the unknown. I am happy the way I am, but would like to lose to "Normal" and a little more just as insurance. I may still do it too, slowly... but the numbers just don't really work out do they?
  5. Logging everything has really helped me stay on track. Even when I eat something crapy, I write it down. It helps me stay conscious. If I don't write stuff down, the quality of my food declines as well. I probably only skip writing down what I eat a couple of times a month. I do eat less healthy foods some of the time, but I write it all down.
  6. hahaha! I look in the windows of shops.... AT MYSELF!
  7. Target has a house brand. Less than $4 for 5 of them...I like the double chocolate... sort of like a chocolate dipped oreo cookie. crunchie. Balance bar lemon meringue is good too.Not crunchy, but tasty.
  8. Yikes girl, I don't know what to tell you! That is TOOO low to be gaining "for real "pounds....
  9. Its always a shock, but I have to say at 58 I'm not dead yet!
  10. I'm not on maintenance yet,but pretty close. I couldn't lose any slower than I am. I'm 6 pounds from goal. I eat 1100-1600 a day, exercise 4+ days a week
  11. My butt is gone and I would be interested too!
  12. Sorry your sick Coops... I have been under the weather too.. days off from work, and this last weekend was spent mostly on the couch. Its catching everyone at school here too... drink lots of water and take care! It will come back on you if you don't.
  13. I go through phases where I really want sweets... and eating sweets make me want MORE sweets! Its the old sweet addiction cycle. Try stocking up on some sugar free sweets, pudding, jello, yogurts, coolwhip free, that kind of thing, and when you want something sweet, go for that. for heavens sakes girl, there are sugar free lemonades out there or you can make some from scratch and use stevia if you want a better choice. I go through this too... and perhaps you are still unsettled after moving back to the states? Sound like you are hungry for something... maybe its not really food you are looking for...can you access some counciling... just someone to talk about your future with? Just guessing here. Good luck with that, and welcome back to the board!
  14. Fantastic, and you look so happy too!
  15. I had the noises from the tummy too... sounded like water sucking down the drain! It almost went away... just now and then a little peep. As far as the sweet thing... I hated sweet in the beginning... but the approach I took was... its medicine right now. Sometimes medicine tastes yuck. The idea early out is not to stress your tummy... not make it work too hard until it starts to heal. To avoid leaks. So keep it liquid and squishy... maybe some chicken stock with a tablespoon of instant potatoes, or I used to make chai tea lates with soy... and added some unflavored whey protein powder... not too hot or it curdles....I was lactos intolerant for the first 4 months too. I drank some drinks I wouldnt touch with a ten foot pole now! But time went by quickly, and I took my medicine and now I can eat anything I like. Hang in there, the time will fly. Get help for your depression if you need to...keep up the walking and don't forget to enjoy the ride of your life!

  18. Sweet potatoes are lower glycemic index than white potatoes... but eat in moderation, still lots of carbs.
  19. Good advice. Look into this forum more, lots of people have gotten off to a slow start, then find a way to get what they want and need. You can too. Just don't give up.
  20. I need it once in a while for potassium. I use the zero products now.
  21. OMG those shoes belong to a greek goddess! They look GREAT. I wear a 12 too... and always nice to find a cool pair of shoes. I am wearing heels now too. I have a friend who just put out a book about the derby... went to a Bay Area Bombers game a couple of months ago to help him sell his book. Have a blast in Vegas! Take pictures!
