- Unsupportive Sister and Mother
I have been very lucky with my family so far. It sound like she might be insecure about her identity. If she is not the slim sister any more, then who is she? Are you close? Explain that you are sure she wants you to have a long and happy and healthy life, and this is the tool you need to get that. Ask her to support you or at least say nothing if she can't be supportive. Its time to start a new relationship with her that changes those old dynamics. What is her reason for being against your surgery? Has she said? I have a good friend who was a little aginst it... but after talking to her, and sharing my hopes and dreams, she came around and supported me. If your sister is mature enough, and loves you, she will do the same too.- Low BMI Folks
I was 35 (now 33), The weight is coming off. I'm only 6 weeks out, but Im down 23 lbs. I don't know where my final weight will be, but this is working so far (with a big stall thrown in for measure... but thats how it goes)- Great Protein Shake Recipes
Eggface is a world of ideas! Explore.- Need my sugar fix
Perhaps mix a scoop of chocolate Protein powder with a spoonful of Peanut Butter?.... or are you looking for the crunch too? You have to decide if its a slippery slope or not, but you can get oreo 100cal packs, I get the cheezit grabs... and eat about 1/3rd of a 100 cal bag and I am stuffed and satisfied(always eaten with protein). I don't want to do this every day, but once or twice a week it makes me feel a bit more normal.- Unjury protein
I have another brand of unflavored...love it! I add a scoop to my Nectar Strawberry Kiwi in the morning, and get a double blast of protein to start the day. I also use it to make my own "chicken soup" using chick'n stock powder, or add it to mash potatoes to balance the carbs so my blood sugar doesn't spike.- Thank you, sleeve (and Hawaii!)
That sounds fantastic! Fun in the sun!- 65% weight loss
The sleevers that are on this board are already not "normal". We are reaching out and being active in an added way. I think what you say is so true Rootman... adding this support improves the percentage of success for us and our sleeves over the average sleeve population.- OBSERVATION
So true!- VSG - 5-year result study
Darn, does not work on Safari.- I know stalls are normal....but....
I ate about 800 calories today, up from about 6-700. I look different for sure... changes in other ways besides the scales. Im just a little bit TOO married to the scale...- I know stalls are normal....but....
Thanks coops, I think the water thing is in order... I often drink the minimum I was told to...going to shoot closer to the maximum and see how that goes. I know Im not alone on this, but its nice to have someone talk to me about it....at home here its just me and my scale, and sometimes the scale is not a nice friend.....- Stomach tenderness at 5 weeks
Thanks Lily...- I know stalls are normal....but....
OK, so officially I have been on a plateau between 224-226 lbs for 20 days. I am almost 6 weeks out, so this is the dreaded three week stall... started at three weeks, and lasted for three weeks too! I probably weigh myself too often, but even if I weigh once a week, I would still stay the same for three weigh ins. I'm pretty sure I am doing everything I should. The body is just saying NO right now. I get to start going to the gym again in a few days... so Im hoping that will boost the loss. Wah Wah Wah! Thanks for letting me cry a little!- Does anyone ever feel like we took the "easy way" out?
Well... did you hear about that guy that had a bolder fall on his arm, while hiking and he could not get it to budge (true story- making a movie about his ordeal) .. so he cut off his arm to save his life..... easy way out?- Pita chips
Had my first (4) tortilla chips yesterday with beans and guacamole.... easy to get down for sure... ate about 15% of what I used to eat that that restaurant.- So is this what its going to be like after surgery?
great idea! When you are off from work after surgery, this will be a great activity to have in the bag too. I am just finishing up my 6 weeks off (My doc insisted) and I have been soooo bored.... but have learned to see it for what it is and get busy with something productive or relaxing.- Anyone else do this??????
Chocolate protein shakes with peanut butter are a nice hit of flavor, and on plan at some time soon. May I recommend Chike Chocolate.... very creamy if you like that. I also ear chocolate SF pudding with peanut butter... I sometimes mix in some protein first, then put the peanut butter on top. Very nice and on plan.- Deciding on the Sleeve or the Gastric Bypass
Latest studies say the Bypass looses more weight, but I would look at the whole picture.. Most everyone here went with the sleeve because their Doc recommended it or they did their research and found out about all the negatives of the bypass. I just didn't want the future of nutrient decencies or my guts rerouted.- Bad breathe and dry mouth, what to do?
Soe docs don't allow hot sauce for up to 8 weeks, check with him first.- Is it too fast?
As long as you are following your docs plan, then go with it. It will slow down later, so don't get to freaked when it does, your body is doing what it wants and be happy!- Stomach tenderness at 5 weeks
Anyone out there with any comments or experience?(thats a fancy bump...)- Will I look OLD?
I'm sure you get more wrinkles, but I think most people here look years younger after they lose weight....- Before And After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Photos

Coops, you say you need to lose almost 50 more pounds, but honestly, I don't know where its going to come from! Everyone, great job!- Stomach tenderness at 5 weeks
Not sure this is a complication... At 5 weeks I went into my Regular Docs for a checkup. She palpitated my abdomen and I was also given a shot for Tetanus and whooping cough which really made my arm sore for two days. I have noticed pain in my knees too...Don't know if this is relevant at all....Feeling fine besides that. I have had no real tenderness in my abdomen at all, only itchy staples at my lap sites. Well after I got home from my AM Dr appointment I noticed some tenderness in my abdomen. Mostly on the right side below my ribs, but also a little bit on the left. It seemed located next to my incision sites, not right on them... but could be where my new tummy is.. kind of hard to tell. Here it is 4-5 days later and it feels the same. Not bad pain at all, but sore. I would have expected to feel this way earlier in the process, but now? Anyone else have this show up later in the process? I have not called my doc, I have no fever or bruising or sharp pain... I start back to work and gym in a few days.... - Unsupportive Sister and Mother
