If you are craving caramel or candy, try this.
I love those too. I get the hard kind, they even come in coffee or mint flavors. I just keep it down to three a day.

SOOOOOO need anyone out there who has absorbtion issues????
Can your Doc refer you to a nutritionist or other internal medicine person? That sounds really miserable! The illumination diet might help too....Do you eat "binding" foods? I know when I get diarrhea during travel in India or other places, I eat rice, bananas and plain yogurt. This seems to help. Perhaps try taking some probiotics... check with local health food store....

I just hit the jackpot!
I used to make my own hot chocolate from milk, sugar free hot chocolate mix an a scoop of unflavored whey or soy protein... just beware, the proteins will clump if mixed with anything too hot... keep it under 120 degrees.

Feeling - What Have I Done?
All these things you are experiencing are normal. By the end of the first month you will feel like a new person! Every day will get better and easier. I promise! You may have been in good health before surgery, but the weight drags you down over the years.. the knees, the liver and heart... it gets damaged from all that weight. You made a great decision, and later in life you will not have to have the years of suffering and early death.... a small price to pay for that!

How often do you see your surgeon?
I saw my surgeon right after surgery in the hospital. I visited the clinic at one week, one month, three months and 8 months (then one year) and all those times I saw the nurse practitioner.

How long before you stopped losing weight
Looou! You are a beauty queen! I know how you are feeling, I have had a 4 week stall that just broke and i lost 1 1/2 pounds in two days. I have been losing about 2-3 pounds a month for a while. I will get to goal, it just might take a while. You will too! You already look fantastic girl. Keep up the good work!

8 months out and gaining
Could you give us a sample of your daily intake and exercise? Do you use an online counter? I tend to think it is muscle.... and sometimes we stall as well... I just came off of a 4 week stall with a 1 1/2 pound loss... not much but glad to see it go! You have done sooo great! Im sure its just a glitch and you will get over it soon.

Kale Chips
Have you tried these? They cost a ton in the store, but easy to make at home for cheep. Ingredients 1 bunch kale (curly edge ones are best) 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 teaspoon sea salt ( you can try adding garlic, seasoned salts or nutritional yeast for variety) Directions Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.(or oil lightly) With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner (wet kale will mess with the time) . Spread out on cookie sheets in one layer. Drizzle kale with olive oil, toss to coat and sprinkle with sea salt. Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 minutes (check time early first time you bake them, to make sure they are not overdone.)

So, any "post partum" for those who've reached goal?
Hugs back. I have to say for myself, getting older has taught me a thing or two. No time left for self hatred or long lasting dissatisfaction.

Losing hair
No sure cure. It grows back. Some people skip the hair loss part (wish I knew why!) Take your Biotin and get in your Protein, this will help hair quality when it grows back. everyone is different, but I think I have lost about 30% of my hair, only a few people even noticed. Thin hair still looks better than fat body to me! Its worth the trade.

Protein Bar Recommendations Please

I KNOW I'm not supposed to compare my weightloss to others buuuuut.....
Look up the the "3 week stall". Many stall out for up to 4 weeks early on. I did. Then things get better. Who knows why.... the body does what it wants. unflavored protein powders are not unflavored. That being said, you can add them to other things that you like, pea soup? crystal light? refried beans? cottage cheese? This will help you get by until you can eat more regular foods. Good luck and you are doing great!

I hate therapists....
Not all therapists are like that. You got one for sure. He needs to do some more investigating into WLS so he's not so ignorant.

Met surgeon, not sure of his practice, need your thoughts
Honestly, I would mention her behavior to the Dr. He cant afford to lose patients because of the behavior of his office staff. My Drs office had a very nice and informed nurse, who is now gone. She was late to appointments and at one point did not call in some medications.... that or something like that was her end I'm sure...

Met surgeon, not sure of his practice, need your thoughts
The Center I went to had NO mention of the sleeve on their web site, their group meetings or any of the teaching documents or information forms. My Doc (who is the head of the Bariatric unit at a local teaching University Med center) told me that in our state (California) the main insurance companies did not include the sleeve in their options until recently. Back East it has been accepted for longer. It kind of bugs me too, but hopefully that will change soon.

How do you deal with head hunger?
Some have said that the hunger hormone is still in your system for a while... it seems to get less a little later for some. Also, do you take a PPI? This helps lower the hunger symptoms. When you get to more solid protein, you will feel physically stuffed with jut a little bit of food. I know this does not address head hunger, but believe me, they all help lower that hungry feeling. Not all people lose all of their hunger.Mine went down by half or so, and is that much easier to deal with than before surgery.
