  1. After surgery, the Doc kept me on the regular dose for a while, watching my labs which were really good. Then she made me take half the pill for 3 months, then retested my labs... They were almost the same after lowering the dose by half. If the problem was genetic rather than weight related, the numbers would have shot up again to some degree. Best of luck with your labs! It feels great to dump the drugs!
  2. I am a January peep, but I thought your little type-o is pretty cute! (Who is everyone doing)
  3. My cholesterol came down very fast. I was allowed to half my meds three months ago, and today, I am off completely. Hurray!!!!! I am at 8 months.
  4. I talked to my Doc today, and she told me that "cold Turkey" was fine with the PPI. She said if I have problems I can take the PPI for a few days as needed.
  5. Join a website that counts nutrition, like fitday.com You can look up foods already in their bank, or make up your own for what they dont have... it not only counts protein, carbs and calories, but Vitamins too....
  6. Did you just do it cold turkey?
  7. yes, after getting blood tests every month or so we found that seems to keep it stable.1000 mcg each sub lingual tab.. Im a vegetarian, which can cause b12 deficiencies as well...
  8. I do take citrate, but even that is questionable...
  9. Is that your Drs dose recommendation? I was very low, and I take one 4 times a week....
  10. I think this is probably true, but if you do more intense workouts, you might need more carbs. I am in the middle range most of the time (50-100) and am still losing, am 18 pounds from goal. What I do watch is Protein first. This helps keeping the insulin spike down, which can bring cravings... and over eating, craving for more carbs. I also mostly eat complex carbs, with a junky carb now and then... in very small quantities. I might be able to lose faster with lower carbs, but my goal is not just to lose, but keep it off, which is more likely with a balanced diet. (for me). I try to eat more grams of protein than carbs a day. Most of the time I can do that.
  11. My doc asked me this very question at my last check up... sign of vitamin deficiency... Do you take B12 right now? This is especially a problem for vegetarians....but others as well. This can cause brain damage, so get checked out ASAP!
  12. Exactly what I was going to say... get rid of anything too big now. I still have a too big/thrift store pile, and a two small/shop here when you lose pile. Also start measuring yourself now... you will be glad you did later... and posting your weight in fitday.com or other site... you can make a chart that shows before surgery as well, which is neat!
  13. Not saying I would HATE to lose it all NOW THIS MINUTE!!! But don't want to miss out on the joy of life because of slow weight loss... you know what I mean...
  14. At two weeks I was eating about 400 cals, but you are doing just fine. The weight will come off when its good and ready. Relax and enjoy the ride...bumpy though it is!
  15. Pita bread and hummus are healthy, but not in a raw and healing stomach. You should be able to eat hummus soon though... I ate it a two weeks.
  16. I am about 8 months out, and at my last checkup (about two weeks ago) I asked if it was OK for me to get off the PPI acid reducer. I have had pretty good luck with not having acid problems using the Omeprazole, except maybe 1 week of some breakthrough acid. Before surgery if I ate well, not too much junk or chocolate, I was fine. Acid problems were directly related to what I ate. Well about 10 days ago I quit the Omeprazole cold turkey. So far so good! I do watch the chili, which I used to love but bothers my stomach a little now... I eat some chocolate every day, but just a table spoon or so....and so far, no acid problems. Have any of you never taken PPIs (My doc insisted I go on them for one mont before and 6 months after surgery) or stopped after surgery? I am worried about the calcium absorption on PPIs....that is the main reason I went off.
  17. You look beautiful dear! Congrats!
  18. Diva, even if you only lose one pound a month, you are sill heading in the right direction. I am only losing around 3 pounds a month for the last couple of months... I am happy for it! I still want to lose 18 pounds by......July of next year. And most of that needs to be fat so wish me luck!
  19. Just follow your docs rules, the stomach does not know what it wants right now... the nerves were cut and you cant always tell whats going on down there. Do not tax the staple line, it will be healing for a while. Time will fly and you will be eating whatever you want soon enough!
  20. Last night my mom and dad came by for a visit, they were raving about the wight loss (they only saw me last week!) My 83 year old dad said I looked sexy! Dad!!!
  21. My "waddle" is not really hanging down much...but has a wrinkled appearance. As does my face now... People keep saying I look good and even the Doc said I look much younger than my age... but I can see it.... I wouldn't trade it for the fat back... just saying. I am losing very slowly, and I think some of the "sag" is getting better... on the arms, back and stomach, thighs... but my butt looks like a Sharpei dog! Poor little butt...hope that shrinks up too a bit. If I get surgery it will be for the face and neck... the rest is not too bad.
  22. Benefiber doesn't work well for me either... I let metamucil expand in my fruit flavored Protein drink first, then drink. Don't want id expanding in the tummy! Drink lots of Water too... prune puree or juice might help as well...
