Frustrated after Gastric Sleeve Surgery
feedyoureye replied to Shae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very good advice ideas. The main thing I do is write it ALL down. (fitday.com) I eat with protein first as the intended rule... I end up eating three cookies once in a while... then I write it down. I try to keep under maybe 1600 calories with an ideal target of 12-1400. Writing it all down forces me to remain conscious of what Im doing. I have had a history of eating what I want.... but WAY too much over time, and when the scales would stall, for a day or a week, I would bolt off the plan I was following. This had to change. With the sleeve, after working it for 11 months so far, I see that I am in it for the long run. If I don't lose weight for weeks or months, I know if I follow a semi healthy plan daily, within the intended calorie range, eventually, the scale reading will go down. And it always has. I think in the past, pre sleeve, I just jumped ship before my body had the chance to really lose the weight my actions would lead to in the long run. Slow weight loss is not bad. For plenty of reasons it is good. Embrace it. Enjoy the ride as much as you can. This is your life too... don't hold out enjoying your life until you lose the weight. -
58 here... More wrinkles, but all in all, I feel, and maybe look younger. Love it!

I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!
feedyoureye replied to MeMeMEEE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
As more and more folks get the sleeve, and discover this website, I'm sure more people with complications will show up too. Thank you all for sharing, its statistically part of this surgery option. Thankfully, not many have this problem, and of the few who do, things get better with time and treatment. Hopefully you all are over the worst part of this surgery. -
I Thought I Was Out Of The Woods....
feedyoureye replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost about 30% of my hair so far... At 11 months, it is still coming out, but a little slower thank goodness! My hair was waist length. I finally cut it, not all the way off, but in layers to help minimize the thinning look of the ends, and to include the tiny short hairs starting to grow back. It is what it is.... I have always valued my thick shiny hair too... when the body did not satisfy... The new cut was a lift, and after a few days of playing with it, and trying new conditioners and products, it looks really good. You will be fine, just let go and try some alternatives until you feel happy about it again. -
Skinny girl issues...WTH!!!!!

All good questions and observations. -
I have always LOVED the photos of people standing in one pant leg of their "fat pants". I never thought I would be able to do this... but tonight for fun I got the pants out (I can't find my 22s, so I used my 20s) Here goes! I took my measurements at two weeks after surgery... and from then till now I have lost 11 inches off my waist, 7" off my butt and 5" off each thigh. Here is also a photo of my 20s under my 13s. I still have 10 pounds to go, so maybe I will take photos then too.... I LOVE fat pant photos! How about you?

cottage cheese or greek yogurt...shortly you can add Kashi go lean cereal with milk... the cereal has 14 gms of protein +whats in the milk, and tastes good! I also bake things with Bobs Red Mill low carb baking mix... I had chocolate donuts with almond butter for breakfast today...Check eggface for great low carb high protein baked recipes.

Will I Lose All My Weight After My Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
feedyoureye replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's really just "time will tell". I only know one person very well who has had surgery and that was RNY. She got prego before she had lost much of the weight, and is STILL happy she got the surgery. She is probably about 50+ pounds down from her high weight(had about 100+to lose), and figures that is better than not being down 50 pounds. She seems to eat without restriction (she is always talking about cheescake and potatoe salad...), but still manages to keep those 50 pounds off... so the surgery is still working for her to that degree. I suspect if we can keep the protein first rule in action, the rest will follow pretty well. -

Will I Lose All My Weight After My Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
feedyoureye replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Would you do anything differently if you just decided you will be 210 forever and you will not lose anymore weight? Would you eat more or differently or exercise less or something? I just figure I will eat the same after I reach goal as I do now. I may drop down a little bit more or not... but not quickly in any event. I'm not really on a special diet except for more Protein than before. I guess I could develop increased stomach capacity or hunger... I don't know about that yet. Hope not. Some studies say there is a weight bounce at 3 years. I am trying to stay on track and not just go on some crazy cake eating expedition or something for a month...(Really, I don't even think I could do that now...) I don't feel like I have to hold myself back much at all. Just trying to make healthy and conscious decisions as often as possible. -
Omg!...frustrated! Neverending Stall....
feedyoureye replied to Lisa :)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had two stalls that lasted between 4-6 weeks, the first one was at 2 1/2 weeks! I am almost at goal. Do not compare your weightloss to others, you are NOT them. Just keep on track, and your weight will melt off bit by bit. Try and enjoy the ride! Sometimes its a rollercoaster (which we paid to ride on remember?) and sometimes its looks like its standing still. ALL NORMAL. I am almost at one year, and really, the time has flown by. I only lose about 2-3 pounds a month now, but its still going in the right direction. You will be here sooner than you think! -

So sad to hear your stories! Best of luck to you both. -
One reason I come to this forum much more than many others is the supportive tone here. I have seen some nasty behavior in other forums you hardly ever see here. I know I dish out some "tough love" now and again, but try not to sound holier than though.

I Have A Leak In My Gastric Sleeve!

Yikes lady! You have really been through it! Hope this is the last problem you EVER have. You will still think it is so worth it after you feel better and get back to a normal life. Have you read Tiffikins early posts? She had may problems like you, and ended up having a ton of success and has been an inspiration to many! -
I just took a beginning class and was sore for 3 days! A good sign it is working to do more than just stretch and relax... The gals teaching said you never have to so situps again if you do yoga. They were very slim and toned.
-
You will only lose some if you get surgery to remove skin... tummy tuck etc... the sleeve only leaves 4-5 very small scars.

Unexpected Response From Co-worker
feedyoureye replied to goldenraisin214's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my best friends is a Dr. She told me she was against it, saw the very negative outcomes in the hospital, but would hold her tongue and support me whatever. The last time I saw her, she asked a lot more questions, even in the context of her getting surgery some day. -
