taking control
I think you are making the right choice. I did a lot of research and the sleeve seemed like by far the best choice for me. It seemed that not only was the lap band something you could eat around between fills, but there were too many stories of erosions and slippage- and many people have a revision to the sleeve anyway later. I did not want my intestines re routed plus the dumping for both lap band and bypass scared me. I honestly think the sleeve will become the most popular surgery very soon. I think you will find you are the envy of the two who opt for the lap band. Good luck to you on this wonderful journey!

Colonoscopy after VSG
My doctor insisted I have it pre-op so I hope you can find another way or wait until you heal longer,

Colonoscopy after VSG
Why are you having one so soon? My doctor insisted I have mine ( I was due) before surgery as he doesn't want you to have it until long long after surgery. Wow that sounds ghastly. At least you have the smaller amount type to drink but unless this is because of a problem I don't see why you would be asked to do this - you are still healing and drinking an extreme purgatives just sounds wrong!

Newbie with a surgery date!
Start a post of your own so everyone sees this and you get answers! I worry when people post in someone else's thread that they won't get answers!

The Nightmare continues
Why on earth would the doctor require a cardio test when the cardiologist has signed off on you and does not want to do the test? Ask the cardiologist to speak to the other doctor. And what the heck do you need an MRI for? This sounds crazy! I too was dxed with apnea and had to see a cardiologist but this seems like way above and beyond. Asthma? WTF!!!

dealing with late night cravings while on pre-op liquid diet
Everyone has told me that the two week liquid pre diet is the hardest thing of all. After all, after the surgery your smaller stomach makes it a lot easier to eat so little. and there is a reason for doing it- healing. Before it is like the essence of the worst of losing wieght that has haunted you fortever. I actually do think I will sleep a lot more, out of desperation. I am so jealous of people who do not have to do it- but I also do want to make it as easy for my doctor as I can . I'll be starting mine the day after Easter. Sigh.

Protein/Calories Trackers...
The one thing that bugs me is the way my fitness pal tells you that you have not eaten enough when you complete a day- obviously not set up for weight loss surgery people. I like fat secret a lot and use it.

I need favor please (time sensitive)
I am unclear of your plan- you surely do not plan to drive eight hours after someone checks you out? Will you be staying the night somewhere? I just had a procedure and you will not be in any condition to drive. You don;t need the person to drive you home, right? Just to check you out and take you somewhere else local?

Seriously need some advice
thanks so much for this awesome info!

Day 16. Navel gazing
Don't know how I did that...posting your quote without anything from me... I love coloring! And when you need something else to play with, crayon now makes COLORED bubbles- amazing. I can't believe no one came up with them before. YOu can get a bubble gun with two colors from them if you want to get out some of that anger in a magical way ;-P By the way.next time you are in Walgreens I am sure you could relaly liven things up- maybe even bring that C grade up, with a visit to the "As Seen on TV" department. A must not be missed for me.

Pain, Not feeling well, advice please
I don't want to come down on you but you could have something seriously wrong and you need to have this checked out. You had major surgery a short time ago. Don't let your discomfort keep you from getting this taken care of. Your doctor sent you to the hospital so you essentially left against medical advice. I really do not think you will die if you go back there but you are playing with fire if you don't. Edited to add- I just re-read your post and noticed you ate pb&j- I know it is often mentioned that bread can cause extreme discomfort as is absorbs liquid and swells. I have heard t can cause a lot of pain. Perhaps that is the issue.

Day 15. Knocking round the zoo
You do know you have to do these every day until...well, forever? I am so glad you have upgraded yourself ;-P It sounds like a much better day. Did they say why no dental work? Just wondering.... and I am so sorry about that laser surgery you were planning...say what? Water aerobics is my workout- I do it five days a week and I am really sad that I will be out of the water for what seems like three weeks. Bummer. I plan to walkie walkie walkie with my husband and our doggie boy. Yay for that B+

BAY AREA KAISER
I keep seeing you around the boards and we both have the same date- but I just realized we are both in No CA too! I'll think of you on the 9th! Do you have to do two weeks of liquids before? p.s. I have a hernia to repair too!

I didn't think it would ever happen for me...
I think you will find all the info you want all over this board- there are tons of posts about doctors and about the whole procedure. If you have a specific question your best bet would be to post it as this may get lost in this thread wince it is about a specific person's surgery. For example there is a place where doctors are discussed- you can ask about doctors in your area. Good luck to you!

Oh I am so glad to see your post- I was wondering what happened! Congratulations!

Hello, New user from CT
Welcome! This is a great place for support and an amazing amount of knowledge. My surgery is May 9th- coming up fast! The two weekspre-op liquid diet probably daunts me the most since there will be no sleeve limiting my appetite! Don't be upset if your insurance company rules when it comes to the six months- many of them are pretty adamant about that. It helps if you can show medical supervision of a diet up to this point. Start logging all your food in a web based food log that you can show your doctor. Keep us posted on your journey! Or even do a You Tube log! I have watched so many of those- and am doing one too to pay it forward.

Less then 12 hours to my new sleeve

I am really confused- isn't today the 13th? It is here in Redwood City where I am! D'UH!!!!!!! I read the first page and didn't notice the month

Anybody Watch Ruby?
I know what you mean- once you embrace something as we have it is hard not to think it is the right thing for everyone. I have to really keep my mouth shut at my Water aerobics as so omany of the peope in my class could really benefit! The thing about Ruby is that she needs to get to the bottom of her issues or she will fail at anything even the Sleeve. Seems pretty clear she was abused in her past and is not wanting to deal with it. Didn't you hate it when she was so awful to that trainer who had made that course just for her? She get's so stubborn and childish sometimes.

So pissed and discouraged by Blue Cross
I second that- ask your doctor to help you fast track as you are a teacher and need to do it at that time. Also, doesn't starting in November count?

Crying Every Day
I can report that is probably a good part of it- because I have a fentanyl patch for pain and I am all over the place emotionally. To quote Bruce Springsteen "Someday we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny"
