  1. You re certainly in mine right here right now! You must be so excited!
  2. OK Guys- I thought I would post a list of what I know so far based on posts here- copy it and add your name if you want- I think it would be great if we all know so we can do a prayer circle of sort- keeping our fellow sleevers in heart and mind on their days- hoping they have an easy effortless time in surgery and then heal quickly! 3. Wow- you are getting close! I can't believe they are making you do TWO days of clears before on top of the five weeks of diet- one day of clears seems about right to me- I have done that for a colonscopy- but two? Blessings with you! I think the thing I keep thinking is all this diet followed by major surgery and then weeks of recovery and not real food until - for me- about six weeks if everything goes well. Sigh. However, at least we will have tiny tummies and eventually no hunger hormone. God good luck and I will think about you on Tuesday! I will pray hard for you to get your job first and then that you sail through your surgery easily and effortlessly. This truly will be a new beginning for you! I just hope we are not this hungry after- seems like that really does go away , especially after the hunger hormone goes away! Easily and effortlessly- that is also my hope for you! Yay Connie- you are almost there! I think I need to do a list of our dates ;-P SO my aging brain knows who needs to be in my healing easy effortless thoughts and prayers! Can't wait to hear how you all do. My husband got me a Magic Bullet too- I love it for the shakes and it will be so cool for the purees too. Seems a shame they make you go to Dallas twice...why can't they have you do the tests that need results close to you and just the true preop paperwork etc. that day? With gas the price it is it really makes a difference, huh? Well, I did eat yesterday. I had the meat and vegetable at the wedding but not the potatoes. I just could not have been on liquids working 11 hours on our feet and running around. The wedding was really hard on my back and knees and I kept thinking I will never be that heavy at a wedding again. We have one Friday but I will just go to the early orning ceremony and then my husband and son will cover the evening Chinese Banquet- I will be two days pre-op and don't really want to be at a reception where the whole reason for being there is 12 course of food! OK I am going over this thread to figure out who is being sleeved when and will posty a master list that you ll can add to or change...
  4. Welcome to a great place for support! I hope your husband can get on board as his support could really help you. But you are doing this for YOU! Stand strong and let him know how much this means to you . Maybe if he realizes how much more active and healthy you wlll be he will come around. Here is the tutorial for adding your weight loss ticker- Ticker tutorial
  5. I kept looking in Post=op to see how you are doing and finally found this- so glad it had gone so well for you! Keep chiming in- I enjoy your take on thing my friend. And I KNOW you will be rocking that sleeve ver soon! xoxo
  6. Did the doctor say you have to lose a certain amount? I think we lose a lot of Water and then you get down to the fat, which is harder to burn. How many calories have you been eating? I am so bad with the shakes I have had about 600 calories a day. i'll have to check those Boost Glucose shakes out.... Wow- 18 pounds- that is awesome! You are almost there- awesome. Just thin how much easier liquids will be with a tiny tummy! The thing I keep reminding myself re: the constipation, is that with liquid there just isn't that much waste! Although I have definitely slowed down that way I saw a Dr Oz recently that said three times a week is normal, so I am just relaxing about it. I am sure it will be much worse after surgery! I've lost 10 pounds! Nights are still really hard- I am so hungry I am grouchy. It shows how much easier that will be post sleeve- bring it on! Today we photograph an 11 hour wedding- I am going to eat a small meal at the reception as we work so hard I just can't be top form on liquids. This couple didn't book us only to have me be low energy and not my usual self! The weddings really take a lot out of us! I wont blow it with carbs, etc., I will have the protein at the buffet. And of course the funny thing is I wok up in much better shape and totally ready to do liquids again. After today I will be 8 days on liquids without wavering. May 2nd peeps- you must be getting excited! (Do they do surgeries on Sundays? If so woo hoo May first!) Chin up Red Velvets- eyes on the prize!
  7. My friend- as someone who is having surgery in 11- count 'em-11 days this is very very good news! I had hoped to have a post like this from you! And it is even sooner than I might have predicted. I have thought all along that the first painful time is not suprising considering how our bids must feel losing 85% of an organ that has been the source of a lot of joy and comfort for many years. I do not blame our bodies at all for completely freaking out! ANd I plan to be very kind to mine and to follow my doctor's conservative orders in the faith that like yours, my body will adapt to this new state of affairs. Ok, I hear you, you don't have to count the daysany more! But please please please don't go away. Unless it is to start a blog where we can still read what you have to say. On this your one month ann'y- I am remembering your post about sitting , trying to pack and blowing up the balloons with your trip to Mexico looming. Long ag and far away eh?.
  8. What a cool problem to have! After I posted about my say goodbye to food red velvet cake I made several people being sleeved on the 9th said it was their favorite too so we christened ourselves! Te Protein powder sample I tried tonight was digossssting! Oh well....
  9. I think we all have different instructions pre-op (I am resenting the heck out of mine- two weeks liquids only) but we are all - at least those up to May 12th, in the last two week pre-op period. How is it going? Are you on liquids or some kind of doctor imposed diet? Do you feel ready for your surgery? I'll start- You may have seen I had a major crisis on the first day of my liquids when the Premier drinks I got from costco were so disgusting I not only could not drink one but then freaked thinking no Protein would work for me. Since then I have found that GNC Extreme 60, nectar, and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury were all at least somewhat palatable, with only the splenda aftertaste bothering me. I am able to drink them. YAY! I have several more samples to try. I have lost seven pounds since Monday! Of course, at least three of them I put on in the few days before Monday with my "last meals" and the famous red velvet cake! I hope I can take off some more and make my doctor happy with the state of my liver. It is not easy- for one thing everything is sicky sweet and I long for savory. I am hyper sensitive to odors and the sell of cooking food can really get to me. Late night my husband seemed to be consuming huge quantities of food all night but I am sure it is just my condition of hunger ! I do find it a little disconcerting to realize this two weeks ends in the surgery and then the real food work begins- and that I will still be on liquids for at least another two weeks after and possibly three. Then mushies- it will be a full 8 weeks from the start of this two weeks until I am allowed real, regular food. That's a looooong time! Other than that I am excited for my surgery and would love this 11 days to pass quickly. How about all of you?
  10. Definitely bring your cpap- I have been told to bring mine (FYI Kelly my fellow Red Velvet Sistah- your mask is fitted to you personally and you wouldn't want to use someone elses!)
  11. I will wait excitedly for your TJ story! See you on the losers bench- I join you 5/9.
  12. Have you ever wondered how they get the bougie into your stomach to use as the guide? It needs to be inside your stomach, in the part that is kept.
  13. So the result today- I tried the GNC Wheybolic 60 with Water, no additives. I have decided before I start doctoring them I want to taste them as they are, plain. It tasted kinda like Quik, though as with the nectar it has a sweet splenda aftertaste. Why are these so sweet? I hate that aspect. But as with the Nectar I did drink it, and could stand it. Yay again! Tonight I had a Bariatric Advantage chocolate Meal Replacement. I was tired of the thin ones I had so chose to mix this with Milk- not realizing it was a thicker drink to begin with so it was really thick. It was ok- still too sweet for me but my husband LOVED it ;-P Of course how he could tell with the huge quantity of food he seemed to be shoveling into his face today is beyond me. Bitter much, Meggie? Tomorrow I will try some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and also try doctoring some of the shakes. I really really want an unflavored Protein to mix into things though. I was directed to one that is sold out. Is there such a thing?
  14. This is amazing! My only thought is that it is a bit too high in carbs if you are smeone who wants to limit those. DO you know what that total is? I love thinking I can do without the supplements. I know that is the goal.
  15. Although I of course can feel the pain that is the double edge of your incredible humor, I have never thought of you as headed for a dark place. I see a shining light in you, and of course also the pain. In fact it is only since I started being on this forum that a lot of my lifetime of pain about weight has been given permission to come out. We all do a pretty good job of stuffing it down, don't we? Then we decide to have WLS and for the first time in a long long time many of us have hope - hope! What a thought! And in having hope we feel the pain too. Aside from the depression of seeing our thriving wedding photography business go down the tubes in this recession, as we face losing everything...mine has a lot to do with just being pissed off that I got dealt the hand of being fat. f**k! I said it- that is all I can say about that. I have three thin siblings and I got to be the fat one. Me, the one with the best taste in clothes! It is unfair. To put it midlly! All of it is unfair , and so is everything that has happened to all of us around it, and around our depression. Still there is that fiicker, our hope, our thought that there is a possibility we have finally found a way to lose the weight and that if we have then no other problem will seem nearly as grave. I for one can say this is the first HOPE I have felt in a long long time. I am with you sistah- and I am here for you. I am a loyal true friend and you have me. BTW- we are effin' awesome photographers. It is a true tragedy that our business is slipping away.... check us out at www.megandmichaelweddings.com ... sigh. Well I may be soon unemployed but I will be thin!
  16. I was going to say that my day three had been fine but then tonight I came home to the house full of cooking smells of my son's and was suddenly sooooo hungry! Nothing I can have appealed to me as I get only liquids, no food at all. I had a cup of chicken broth but couldn't finish it and know I should have a prtein shake but am not wanting that overly sweet taste. Good luck and know it has a wonderful light at the end of this tunnel- the sleeve! That is what I am trying to do- keep my eyes on the prize.
  17. I too was bothered by the rerouting of the intestines with the malabsortion, and I much prefer having the entrance into and exit from the stomach stay the same. I was concerned about that whole part of your stomach being there but not being accessible by scope. The lack of dumping is also appealing. Once I learned more and more about the sleeve it seemed by far the best choice.
  18. I actually am glad there is some screening. My nutritionist said that she still has some patients who regret their surgery and I think the screening is important for making sure you understand whet you are doing.
  19. Do you have to have a catheter? My doctor does not use one. The nasogastric tube is done while you are asleep, isn't it? When I think about everything that goes down your throat it is not my favorite thought either! I just remind myself I will be out for that. I am a few days behind you- this is my third day of liquids. I don't have much appetite either, I am drinking a lot less of everything than I thought I would be. It is normal to have some fears- just think about your goal in all this and how soon you will be on the losers bench!
  20. I will keep you in my heart and prayers.
  21. Hooray WOOT WOOT! Welcome to the Red Velvet Gang of May sleevers. I am on day three of my liquids. Yuck. Tonight the hunger hit. Be glad you do not have to do it! It is har knowing that I do 11 more days of this and then surgery. I especially miss savory things.
  22. Well it seems to me that as a person with an extreme allergy to a commonly used food additive you are already very limited in your food choices for keeping good nutrition, so a surgery with a malabsorption factor like the bypass would be counterindicated for you. Would that be something you could use?
  23. Thanks! I bought a small bag of this today and will try it later or tomorrow! Crossing my fingers! I had gotten a box of Fuzzy Navel- can't remember whether it was from BA or from Syntrax- and I am so happy to report that I tried one today and though I do not care for the splenda aftertaste and do not imagine having it as my regular Protein Shake I was able to drink a whole one and there was no protein aftertaste. Hooray! Are you sure? Do you mean there is no strong protein powdery aftertaste with them? The thing is, my husband thought it was ok- not great but OK. I would imagine a bad batch would taste bad to everyone.
  24. Oh my- sure enough, the Whey Isolate protein I got at GNC today says it contains milk and soy Beans. I had no idea! Goodness- that will make it very difficult for you- I feel for you! I a uncertain about what you are asking though- the connection between the insurance matter and your soy allergy? I think it is hard to determine what you need help with?
