  1. I've tried many, many different brand and found some that agree with me, and some that don't. I once was told that if the total carbs in a Protein bar aren't more than double the Protein listed, then it's safe. It's not great for you, but better than some of the other bars.

    I have found that if you're lucky enough to live in the Kroger grocery store areas, that they have been having a weekly sale on Protein Bars, in thier health type food area of the store. They pick a few brands or styles and sell them 10 for $10. That's not too bad at all. Of course check the total carb to protein ratio to see if any worth buying that week. They normally change ads on Tues or Wed for the week.

  2. I had the single incision VSG. But it wasn't single.....hahhaa I had a Q-ball incision also. A tiny cut that had a tube going in where they were able to put in pain meds directly at the site inside. It was less to take care of with the one 2inch glued shut and the small healing incision than 5 or more. I'm sure inside my stomach muscles were split open rather wide to put all the insturments inside. Lots of "learning" when healing with not using my stomach muscles, but rather glad i had it with only one incision.

  3. You might want to stay away from other people eating and smells of food. The Bariatric Advantage brand is OK, but Unjury chocolate (no sucralose variety) with skim milk is like chocolate milk after it settles a minute or two after shaking. I've gotten burt out on the Bariatric Advantage chocolate. I've make it through 1 full big bag and about 2/3 of another one. Be sure if you buy another bag from online, they charge a 25% restocking fee. I think i'm gonna have to eat that one the extra bag i bought. I did buy a few bottles or singles which makes it easier for traveling. Just remember it will all be worth it. change things up some, because you've got 2 weeks after surgery also. Ohhh and sending out the secret hand shake here (day 2 you'll feel like hammered dog poo), expect it and it will get better from there. Once you get up and start walking it gets better, sitting in the chair makes all the difference as well as getting rid of the PCA pump and taking the lortab liquid (tastes like crap), but does wonders. If any other questions you can respond here or nocode3738@yahoo.com

  4. I'm 2 weeks out today and i still get abd pains, some were fairly painful and some were really painful. But i've learned that I can't use my stomach muscles and the pains go away with in a day or so. After the first 4-5 days of the pain med, i've only used it once since then. Things will get better, just lay low and don't try doing too much. (my error)

  5. I'm a week and a half out and only having minimal pains when my belly hangs or pulls to the side when initially standing up or laying down. I've got 1 belly button (main)incision and a small left sided one where a Q-ball (not sure of spelling) was installed to put prescise pain meds near my stomach. I had to wait until mid afternoon for my surgery due to an emergency case and the doc came in and said he was going to make mine not-so-tight as usual cause i was a big guy. well i'll find out in the future if this is good or not, but for the first few days after surgery they had to keep pumping me with IV fluids cause i couldn't get down more than a few tiny sips per hour or so due to the swelling. I'm slowly trying to figure out the Protein and calories (enough to do a lot during the day) and fluids are going down alot easier. I quit the lortab and doing tylenol liquid when necessary for general aches and pains. Check with your surgeon for pain lasting as long as you mentioned, shouldn't be like that.

  6. I've only got until monday morning for my surgery (today is saturday evening), but i'm getting really tired of all the little dizzy spells.

    shake = 160calories

    drinking 3-5/day.

    that equals 480-800 calories a day.

    Any suggestions for my last pre-op day or for right after surgey, where i'm sure the calories will be cut down even more and the dizziness will be back?
