  3. I am a nurse and can tell you that what you described is all normal. If it gets red or hot those are signs of infection. Also, steri strips can hang on forever so don't worry too much about those.
  4. Hi Everyone, I think I am making myself more anxious than I need to, but I have a question. Has anyone with BCBS Massachusetts been denied with a BMI of 40? I am right at 40 and I have high blood pressure but it is controlled with one med. I am so nervous that I will be denied. Thanks.
  5. Hi all, My name is Kim and I am basically just beginning this journey. I have been overweight my entire life with a number of losses and regains. After two years of simply losing and gaining the same twenty pounds, I finally decided to give the lap band a serious look. After lurking here and researching I decided this would be a great way to help me improve my life. Then tonight I went to my information session and now I have more questions than I did before. The statistics presented showed that there is a significantly greater loss with bypass as well as a decreased occurence of co morbidities and weight regain. The doctors also discussed that if you like sweets or don't exercise this surgery will not benefit you, and the weight loss doesn't really begin until 3 months post op due to no restriction prior to fill. While I understand this is a huge lifestyle change, and I do attend the ymca regularly, I am afraid I will revert to my old/current habits and this will all be for not. I have every intention of working hard, I am just scared I will fail with this like I have all my previous diets. Does anybody have any experiences or advice to share? My consult is in two weeks and I want to be better prepared when I meet with my doc. Thanks. Kim
  6. While I am sure it depends on the surgeon, I don't think you will have a problem. I broke my wrist last year and when I went in for surgery they questioned it but let me keep my screw in when I explained the closer possibility. Not to mention trying to replace it with a broken wrist
