POLL: When could you wear a bra post-op?

I had no problems wearing one. Not that I wanted to wear one, but went to a funeral the day after surgery and didn't really want to go without. Never bothered me as my incisions are lower than my bra line.

    Facebook?

I do not post about my surgery on my Facebook page, as my bosses do not know I had it done. They only know I had hernia surgery during the summer break, that really happened. But I don't necessarily post anything anyways about my lapband, as my inlaws dont know either. But feel free to friend me, just put LBT in the message so I don't think you are some random stalker. Lol My kids picture is my profile. Look for the redhead. I hardly get on LBT now that school is back in session but I check Facebook at work on my break.
  4. LeChill, I'd like the directions for your fritatta. Sounds yummy! I usually have a Protein shake for breakfast during the week, as it is hard for me to take the time to actually eat before I teach my class. But on rare days that I eat breAkfast, it's one of two things...egg mcmuffin from McDonald's, or I make a hungry girl egg mug. Basically egg beaters and any combo of stuff cooked in the microwave. Makes single servings. Sometimes it makes so much I can only eat half.
  5. Do you like any of the Carnation Instant Breakfast flavors? If so, mix one of those and add powdered dry milk. I think it's like 1/3 cup of dry milk to 1 cup of regular milk (or water) and that makes it have the protein of milk. When I am out of my protein powder (Ideal Chocolate Milk diet), or when I am bored with chocolate flavor, I will mix up a packet of CIB plus 1/3 cup powdered dry milk plus my milk, and it keeps me full until lunchtime.

    Anyone tried popcorn??

I had a few handfuls of it at a carnival the other day. Ate it slowly. It was soooo good. Nice and salty, perfectly popped and seasoned. If my son hadn't grabbed it, I would have tried to eat a little more. But so far no problems. Not craving it either.
  7. Kids these days!! To them crack is king and they don't realize that you can actually lose weight without doing something illegal. Congrats on your loss. Keep it up!!

    Is the fill process painful?

I'm with Brina. Doesn't feel good. I am fine with giving blood and getting shots but the fills are a little more painful for me. So far they've had trouble finding my port and that tends to make me nauseous while they dig around trying to find it. They hit the metal part. Once they remove the needle I'm fine. Every one has a different experience though. Just be prepared, they ask you to sit up with the needle still in your port. Kinda weird and I get woozy if I look at it. I'm not normally wimpy but fills do weird things for me. This last time she dug around so much I was uncomfortable and she finally gave me lidocaine and then it helped a little. Since I already had the needle stuck in my abdomen she was able to push the lidocaine in without sticking me more than once. Try to relax as much as possible.
  11. I go to true results Houston too. I make my fill appts far in advance since I can only go on their late days, Thursday's. I made my December appt 2 weeks ago and will make my January appt when I go in 2 weeks. They get booked up super fast, so I can see why they can't fit you in. But you never know, maybe someone else will forget theirs or cancel and you can slide in. I'd keep calling them back every day. Good luck.

  13. I too get tired fast of tuna or chicken salad. I've recently made a pot of both chicken tortilla soup and taco soup and then froze it all in 8 oz containers so all I have to do is grab and go...since its in small dishes, it doesn't take long to thaw and heat in the microwave. Sometimes I'll buy the pre-cooked chicken breasts or fajita meat and eat it cold mixed with canned black beans and some salsa, then maybe heat it just a moment and sprinkle with cheese. I've also made regular meat loaf that my family likes and froze it in small portions for me to take for lunch; add veggies or salad once I heat it up. Always looking for more ideas, thanks for posting!!

    BEST tasting protein shake?

I drink The Ideal Chocolate Milk Diet protein.... it only comes in chocolate and vanilla. I like the chocolate flavor. To me it tastes almost like Borden chocolate milk. I've also tried the Unjury flavors, chocolate, vanilla, unflavored and strawberry, as well as the chicken soup flavor....they're ok, but I personally like the ICMD better. I've tried the samples of the Syntrax Nectar and since I don't care for kool-aid, I really didn't like any of those. Another thing you can do is make your own...use the powdered instant milk with skim milk and whatever else you want, sugar free pudding mix, fresh or frozen fruit, sugar free syrup, etc. Or do the Carnation Instant Breakfast with skim milk, but add up to 1/3 cup powdered instant milk, which ups your protein. I'd love to try different brands of ready-made drinks, but am too scared of wasting money and not liking it and then having to throw it away.

Help Me! ....eating After A Lap Band Fill

I just had fill #4 Thursday. Normally, they say I can eat whatever that same day, no restrictions. However, this week, they said (and wrote on my discharge paper!) liquids only for that day and the next, then soft food today, and back to normal tomorrow...well, I did liquids only on Thursday, then yesterday I tried to eat some triscuits while waiting for my Protein Soup to cool and got STUCK worse than ever!!!! I had to leave the lunch room and not eat my soup....in huge pain!!! Lesson learned!! Then last night I did ok with some tiny pieces of grilled chicken that I mashed up... I'm now up to 5.9 cc and must be getting closer to my green zone, as I could only eat half of my egg mug this morning before I got the stuck feeling (on mushy scrambled eggs!!!) Nothing came up today or yesterday, thankfully, but will be paying more attention to what I eat and how much!!!

    Is it possible???

Yes, it's possible!! My scale wouldn't budge for almost a month, but I've had to buy smaller bras during that time!!! And go measure yourself NOW!!! so what if it's not the starting point, it will be a place to look back from time to time to see how far you've come....especially on days when you feel like the scale isn't moving!! Good luck!!

    Zero weight Loss

You're not alone!!! I was banded June 20, 2011 and have only lost 16 since then....I've been at a plateau for the last month, since my last fill, not losing but gaining then losing then gaining the same pound or two.... I've heard this is normal though....I've also heard when this happens, up your exercise and change your calories...I've also heard plateaus don't last too long. Hoping you will start losing soon!!! I go for a fill on Thursday and hoping I will find it easier to lose more!!! Hang in there!!!
  20. I was banded June 20 2011 by dr Reilly at true results in Houston. I went for pre-op, surgery, and now go monthly for fills. I've only seen the doctor during Pre-op and surgery but not since, only the nurse and/or PA for fills. I'm at 4.9 cc so far and hoping that my visit next week gets me closer to the green zone. Plan on going at least every 4-6 weeks post op. And make your fill appointments in advance! They only stay late on thursdays and those spots after 3:00 fill up fast! I already have my November appointment and will make my December appointment this week when I go. Good luck, keep me posted!!

Is drinking with a straw a no no???

I drink from a straw every now and then, simply because 1) I've used one all my life and 2) it prevents me from wearing my drink.....hard habit to break!! While I did good in the first 6 weeks post-op, after that I've used a straw more and more, but what I do to help eliminate excess air going into my mouth is to bite down on the straw while I sip.....works for me and so far no problems....

Thanks so much!!!! I bought a pair of capris size 16 on clearance and wore them today....and wouldn't you know it, I spilled printer toner all over them!!! UGH!!!
  23. Hi. I've only lost a little but am starting to outgrow AND get rid of my size 20 clothes and some of my size 18s....looking to see if anyone has anything in a size 16 they no longer wear and would consider passing to me? Hoping soon to fit into a 16!! Thanks.

    Flintstone Vitamins Complete

I don't like the chalky taste.... I take Target brand of the Vita gummies.... I can handle those ok and chew really well. For the calcium, I take the Target brand of the calcium gummies.... In the beginning I bought several different brands of the calcium chews (Caltrate, Viactiv, etc) and to me those taste horrible!!

    My NSV

So I am at a plateau, now adding in more exercise (joined the YMCA yesterday and burned 699 calories yesterday alone!!) and trying to eat less at each meal and stay below 1200 calories....the scale isn't moving much these days, but I have new reasons to celebrate..... Last week I had to go get new bras....the old ones were super loose in the cups....so loose that I had to cut off the excess material!!! But today was the REAL NSV!!!!! I measured myself...something I haven't done since surgery day... I lost 3 inches in the waist 3 inches in the bust 4 inches in the hips nothing in thigh....might have to re-measure that one! 1 inch in the upper arm!! Went from a size 42DD bra to a 40C...first time in over 10 years and 3 kids that I've been a C!! I've gotten rid of my size 20-22 clothes, now working on getting through the 18's.... went to a wedding last night and wore a size 16 dress without busting out of it!!!! It fit great and felt even better!!! I even danced in HEELS!!! I'm not a dancer by an means, but danced longer than I ever would have even thought of pre-banding!! Woot woot!! If I can figure out how to add pics before and now I will do so.
