  1. It wasn't completely cost that had me go with Dr Almanza. I was quoted more than 5K as the coordinator here provides additional support post-vsg that is part of my package price. I did my research and am happy with my decision. Good luck to whomever you choose!

    Am I in denial?

lol.. my hubby is too. He can't keep a secret for anything! Unless its related to his career in the military, then he's zipped up tight! I've said to anyone that says "going on vacation again"? that I just have some things to take care of and left it at that. I was just in Punta Cana for a wedding at the beginning of the month so people are just assuming I'm vacationing. I won't correct them unless they ask
  3. I'm being sleeved by Dr Almanza next week and someone else I know personally went to him in January for her sleeve and has a glowing report of his clinic and the entire experience!

    Any other Canadians out there?

From the research I've done, its over 20K for bariatric surgery in Canada on self-pay. That's why so many of us go to Mexico!
  5. I've considered it. Then I realized that the last time I dieted WAS my last ditch effort. 15 years of dieting is enough chances for me to make this decision.
  6. Congratulations on making this decision for yourself!! I'm actually going to Dr Almanza next week! I'll be sure to update my blog if not this board
  7. I have problems with meals that are too rich as well... mostly starchy/fatty/sweet. most often times I can't even finish the meal before I'm running for the bathroom! (tmi..sorry). I figured it was a form of IBS. It definitely encourages me to not eat that stuff! I wonder if I'll still have this problem post VSG?

    Any other Canadians out there?

I can definitely meet before if we can get it arranged! Of course Friday is a holiday but I'm in every other day, including Easter Monday (on liquids only on monday though!) Any day is good for me this week.
  10. I've lost 60 lbs before (2 years ago... and surprise gained it all back in 5 months ugh) and I had the same problem. People would tell me how great I looked and I just didn't see it. I could see that the size I was wearing was smaller but it just didn't compute in my head. I don't know how long it takes but I know that I have dealt with it before too. It sucks!
  11. Wow!! I can't wait to be where you are!!
  12. I'm not sleeved yet... (Next week FTW!) but a weight loss plan is a weight loss plan. While I understand that the calories coming in during the initial healing phases are very low, I personally don't believe it is enough to justify eating ice cream every day. Especially this early out. If we can make excuses for not following the eating plan so early after surgery then we're just setting ourselves up for long term failure. Excuses and justifications is what got alot of us here in the first place. YMMV and who knows, I might find myself struggling with trying to get in ANY calories and reach for "soft calories" too. I wish you luck in your journey

    Menstrual Cup?

I've used both the Instead and the Diva Cup. I've converted many people I know to the cup... best invention ever. It does take some getting used to. In the beginning, I had a little mess on my hand to clean up so I learned to take a wetted paper towel into the ladies room when I went. Now, I can pull it out, empty, wipe and reinsert with very little spillage!

    April 2011 Sleevers

Sweet! Myself and my hubby will be there... look for the blonde with short hair and the man that's 6'3" that has a resemblance to Vince Vaughn! Would love to meet someone there!
  15. MAJOR excited. And nervous!!!

  16. My pre-op diet is only 3 days of liquids. Thankfully I'll be able to make it through Easter dinner with family before I start my liquids only! Right now I'm trying to find some sample packs of powder protein. All those websites out there either only deliver in the States or are crazy expensive to ship to Canada. Sucks! Yes Banff is very beautiful SpiceyMom. We camped out there last summer but we just don't get out there often enough.

    Newbie with a surgery date!

The same surgery in Canada (self pay) is over 20,000 and at least a year between first consult and surgery date. In Mexico I can get it for 1/3 to 1/4 the price and much quicker turnaround

    Newbie with a surgery date!

Eeeee so excited for you! I'm not sure how to tell my family and whether or not to tell any co-workers (or boss) and even if I should tell my trainer. I think I might keep it a secret till its over... then no one can try and talk me out of it! Not like they could, I just don't want the hassle!
  20. Dr. Almanza. We're in Canada so we're flying to San Diego on the 26th. Unfortunately not direct flight home so its going to suck to sit in Seattle airport for 2 hours on layover!
  21. Heck yeah, where are you getting sleeved??

    Any other Canadians out there?

I work downtown so if downtown works for everyone else, it would for me as well. I'm going for my sleeve on the 27th so right around the corner for me now!
  23. We're sleeve sisters! I'm being sleeved the same day! I don't have to do the pre-op liquids until Easter Sunday though... thankfully. We have alot of family coming over!
