    Can I Just Quit Now????

B6 & B12 sublingual/chewable/liquids is supposed to help. Outside that, energy will be better the more proteins you can get in. I am struggling with this as well and I just keep reminding myself that I've just had major surgery so I have to give my body a break and rest as much as I can. Just getting ready for work has me exhausted since surgery 11 days ago.
  3. Yes its a good idea. They do still work in Mexico so like a resort, they don't make alot of money.... they drive you all over the place, including shopping so its really nice to tip them if you can.
  4. HI canada! Just wanted to say hello from a fellow canuck!

    April Update from everyone

Doing well here. 11 days post op now. Got my stitches out yesterday. Tried to put polysporin on my incisions as instructed by the doc and covered with bandaids. This morning my tummy is full of itchy rash. Boo for adhesive allergies! I had soft scrambled egg whites for Breakfast today. It was interesting. Didn't hurt, didn't come back up so its all good. I didn't eat much and it took me a good 30 min to get down 2 tablespoons of food but I feel good otherwise. Today is the first day I've not seen a drop in the scale but I don't really care at this point. I'm getting on the scale because hubby is interested in watching the number go down. I'll be more impressed if I can keep the weight off. That's my main fear is keeping it off, not getting it off!
  6. We booked it ahead of time but you don't HAVE to. One person in our group asked to go to the hotel the day we got there when he found out it was an option. If you do pre-book, make sure you tell the coordinator of the arrangements.
  7. Yes, that was the part that sucked. The constant going back and forth to the clinic was a PITA and it was painful bouncing along the streets.
  8. We didn't want to share a room... and there was a risk my hubby would have to sleep on a couch. We stayed at the Hotel Ticuan. It's not ideal choice but if you really want your privacy, ask to stay there instead. It's $68 a night Check out my blog for details on our journey
  9. I willingly tell everyone and anyone about my experience. Email or not! It's all over my blog, can't really hide it.

    Started walking today

Every person is different depending on their personal fitness level so there is not really any pat answer. Invest in a chest strap heart rate monitor. They're the best invention ever for tracking your heart rate and calories. Wrist ones aren't as accurate, that's why I say get the chest strap one.

    Healthy Eating for April Sleevers

Hubby made me turkey and mashed potatoes last night for dinner! He took lean ground turkey and cooked it and then pulverized it with mashed potato to make baby food. It was heavenly. I love the mushies!
  13. Perfectly normal. I am 9 days out and I'm still not getting in everything I need to. I think I could only manage 1-2 cups of water a day in the first days out, everything that I went to try hurt going down and I got a gas bubble. Now I still get a gas bubble but no more pain. But I'm still struggling to get everything in. 2 tablespoons of pureed food and I'm full!
  14. I'm looking forward to eggs!!!
  15. Hubby keeps asking me to weigh myself every day. I honestly don't want to. I'm afraid to be disappointed every time I step on!
  16. I'm a side or stomach sleeper but can only sleep on my right side or back right now. I hope I'll be able to go back to stomach sleeping soon!
  17. I wasn't nauseous at all the entire time. I usually get sick from anesthesia but they did something magical I swear. Only time I got sick was when I had to drink the nasty blue water and stuff for the leak test. Puked in the car on the way there and in the lab right when I was being xrayd. lol

    April Update from everyone

I can't wait to graduate to cream soups. I think we're allowed to have them in week 1-2? There's so many differing opinions on this it seems! I reallllly want something more than just Protein drinks, clear soups, yogurt and cottage cheese already. I'm doing ok. I'm 1 week now post op. Very tired. First day back at work yesterday and I came home and crashed. I was just exhausted! I'm doing short days for the rest of the week so I can recuperate a little more before I do full days again

    4 days post op

I haven't had any vomiting other than that disgusting leak test junk.... puked all over the floor in the lab LOL Today is already better. I've gotten down 1/2 a bottle of apple juice and 1 cup of unjury chicken Soup and 1 oz of cottage cheese with no issues. I'm currently working on a berry Protein smoothie drink. Very little pain upon swallowing today. Looks like I'm rounding the bend!

    4 days post op

I'm having the same problem getting liquids in. I fear dehydration is in my future. Even a small sip gives me pain right now. I'm scared to try anything not liquid in the future!

    Hello...My name is Cheryl

The gas pain is the worst part. Make sure you move as much as possible. Go for lots of walks, windmill your arms, get the nurses to clap you on the back.... I found the GASX strips were a waste of money but YMMV After the gas passed the pain was localized to the drain site. Once the drain was out, it was like night and day. Such a relief. If you try to drink too much or too fast, there's pain kind of like when you get food stuck. If you choose to stay in the hotel instead of recovery house, bring some liquid pain meds. You will want them. Anything else feel free to ask or follow me on my blog. Good luck!

    Pain Medication

I was just sleeved with Dr Almanza on the 26th. It wouldn't hurt to bring something liquid along with you. I'm allergic to morphine so my pain wasn't managed as well as I had hoped. If you stay in the recovery house there are nurses around all the time for you if you need more in your IV. You're not allowed anything chewed until after your leak test. Also, I brought the Gas X strips and found they did nothing. Only thing that helped was walking and hubby beating my back. It was horrible pain from the gas.

    April 2011 Sleevers

Yes I can eat them without too much pain. Only pain is when I try too much fluids. I vomited the leak test stuff all over the floor at the radiologist this morning because it was just too much, too fast!
