ToDream replied to Ready2BHealthier's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Im 2 days out and having problems getting my fluids in. I'm trying though. I find it painful if I have more than just a little sip. So far I haven't had anything but water, juice and freezies since Tuesday. -
Self pay sleeve with 36 BMI no comorbidities
ToDream replied to LisaM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My BMI is 36.3 and I am 218 lbs at 5'5 I had my Sleeve 2 days ago with Dr Almanza in Tijuana, MX -
2 days out for me. We're still in Tijuana. Had the leak test this morning. That was absolutely disgusting. I threw up on the floor. haha I have to agree about the pain though.. alot more pain that I was expecting. I don't think there's enough information on here about the pain you might have!! Would it have changed my mind? no but I would have been prepared for it at least.

I'm drinking a Grape Frost isopure right now! It's ...ok... it has a weird aftertaste but its what I need right now post surgery so I'm trying to get it down.

Hello...My name is Cheryl
ToDream replied to aslimmerme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Cheryl! Welcome!! My name is Cheryl too! I'm 2 days post op! -
I was sleeved on the 27th. Still have my drain in and i believe most of the pain is coming from that. Its been pretty rough. I don't think I was fully prepared for the amount of pain the gas gives you. It was just awful. I was moving around alot, taking walks, gas-x strips, hubby clapping me on the back... still took over 24 hours to release all that gas. Feeling better today but still a long way to go.

pre-op and post -op coffee drinking
ToDream replied to kemo46's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My understanding is that caffeine will irritate your staple line and its also a diuretic. Since its apparently hard to get in enough fluids anyway, we don't want to do anything that's going to have the diuretic properties either. -
Can't believe its here already! I've been kind of in a weird state of surrealism, like it isn't really happening. Yet here I am on day 2 of pre-op liquids and tomorrow I head to California! Surreal..... Good luck to the rest of April sleevers!

Cash pay and afraid of possible complications
ToDream replied to Meandmylittledog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know how you guys do it. Its things like that that make me glad I'm a canuck. -
Who got a goal outfit after (or just before) their surgery? I was told it was a good idea to get a goal outfit. Something to look forward to I guess. I can't seem to let go of the fear of not making it to the goal and not fitting the clothing. I keep putting off the purchase. Any ideas how to get over myself? What did you do?

My surgery is next week. I've told 3 people that I'm doing it. None of them are related to me... with of course the exception of my husband who is coming along with me. I told my trainer because she needed to know why I wouldn't be letting her kick my ass for the next 2 months. I told my best friend and I told a woman at work because I trust her and she's trusting me with a secret that she's pregnant right now. I don't want to tell my family. I don't want to tell my boss. I don't want to tell my co-workers... even the ones that could really benefit from this procedure. Frankly I'm afraid they'll look at me like I took the easy way out, or that I didn't really need it because I'm not "that" big... How do you decide who to tell???

Fears! Need your Help!
ToDream replied to karaserene1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any time I've done Low Carb in the past, you didn't count carbs from veggies or fruit... unless they were a starch. So potato.. yes. Strawberries.. no. When I think of carbs, I'm thinking starches but perhaps someone that's been sleeved can weigh in on that. -
It's today! Can you make it downtown? So far its just myself and BlackBerryJuice

I'm a 38E at 218 lbs. When I was 150 lbs 2 years ago, I was a 36C so yep... you lose em. They were definitely deflated but its good thing my hubby is an ass man!

Obstacle 2: Sleeve Prices Vary
ToDream replied to SandSandles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard great things about Dr Jaime Ponce de Leon as well if you're interested in him. Someone I know here is now a coordinator for him. I can get you in contact with her if you're interested. Send me a PM if so There's a lot of doctors out there, ultimately its your decision on your own personal comfort level. Regardless of naysayers of one doctor or another. Good luck!
