  1. You are seeing something I honestly don't see alot of on here. For the most part people on here tell you like it is and correct you if you are wrong. Thats why I love this site. There are occasionally times that people will encourage you to get back on the wagon, its not the same as incouraging wrong behavior. If someone on here tells publically how they are going against what their dr advices or whats good for the band, than they obviously are wanting our help and you should voice your thoughts on the matter if it can help them correct it. If they didn't want ALL our opinions then they wouldn't post to EVERYONE. Thats how I see it, anyways. Don't let a few bad apples taint the whole basket.
  2. Welcome to this site! I too was banded on the 19th. This site has provided so much info. If I have any questions I just go to the different topics already listed or ask. The people here are so friendly and helpful! Hope to hear updates from you on your journey. Kelly
  3. Yay, and Good Luck! You definitly inspired me!
  4. Congratulations! I loved reading through this thread! I just love a happy outcome. I was just banded March 19th so this is all new to me. My 14 year old daughter wants to have this done. It is something I would definitly consider. But, still on the fence about it. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  5. #Losin, Congrats! J, how did you lose the 10 since the 20th? My surgery was the 19th, I lost about 8 right off the bat, but gained back 3 since I started my full liquids.
  6. I forgot about the pre-op when my aunt brought in little ceasars. I was on my second slice when I remembered. However, the doc said my liver looked good so it had no ill effect on me.
  7. Bypass wouldn't change your craving. Two friends had bypass, one is doing awesome, lost the weight and does all hes supposed to. The other hasn't hardly lost any and even though sweets make her sick at first, she eats past it. Every wls is what you make it. Good luck!
  8. Thank you so much. I was just banded, and your words were very incouraging.
  9. I was banded on the 19th. Walking was the best thing for me. It made a real difference. If your pain meds make you sick, call your doc to get something for nausea. I did, it helps alot!
  10. I am so glad you brought this up! I was banded on the 19th and lost about 8 lbs. I wasn't drinking hardly anything bc I was afraid to gain. Well the last two days I've drank my protein and soups, and gained back 3 lbs. I am a lil disappointed in this. But from everything I've read on here, we are not supposed to be losing until we are off the post op diets and on to our new lapband eating habits! Good Luck to you.
  11. Thanks all, for your advice. I am going to start thinking sensibly, I know I need the protein & calories or I will set myself up for failure. Its just hard to let go. I am an all or nothing kind of girl! P.S. Good luck with the wedding!
  12. Cib w skim milk has about the same as a protein drink. My doc wants me to drink about 2 a day w yogurts, cream soups w skim milk, sf puddings. I guess I just have so many people knowing and watching to see how I do w this that I'm afraid to not lose. Plus in all honesty, I am not hungry. Thanks B52 that was encouraging.
  13. I wad banded March 19th. On full liquids for two weeks then mushies for two weeks. First fill a month from surgery. I am currently scared to drink anything except my water. I do drink 8oz of carnation instant breakfast and 4oz of my cream soups a day. Equals around 320 calories a day. I am down 9 lbs since surgery. Without soutending like a complete idiot, what can or should I be doing?
  14. I was banded on the 19th, the doc has got me in full liquids for two weeks. Thankfully my cream soups and carnation instant breakfast are filling me up. I would check to see if you could have more than just the clear. Goodluck to you!
  15. Thank you all so much for your input!
  16. Dear Lord, I pray for this beautiful lady Lord, I pray for peace to envelop her Lord. I pray for her family, for their needs to be met. Give her strength, wisdom and guidance Lord. May your will be done. Amen
  17. I was just banded on the 19th. I was wondering, how often I should be drinking, and how much?
  18. I have been taking 2000 mg of biotin just as a precaution. BUT, my nutritionist said it wasn't needed, that the protein is what keeps your hair healthy.

Congratulations! I was just banded yesterday and was told the recovery was similar to gall bladder surgery. Its not! This is so much easier! Good luck on your journey!
  20. Congratulations! Mine went very smooth Monday, too. I was originally supposed to stay overnight, but I was doing so well, they let me go home.. Walk...walk...walking is the key. Everytime I started to feel pain, I got up and walked. The pain went away!
  21. I'm sceduled for this Monday the 19th for surgery. Will they still do it if I've been coughing? No chest congestion, just a tickle and dryness in my throat.
  22. Congratulations Marlene36, my surgery is also on the 19th. Waiting patiently, would you send me a list also. Thank you in advance, Kelly- kmt1973@yahoo.com
  23. Good luck with your choices. I, myself had a choice of the band or sleeve with my insurance. I know two people that have had bypass, and have gained some weight back as they are stretching their stomachs back out. I figured the sleeve would do the same. So, I chose the band bc if I srart gaining I can then add fluid to my band. Again, goodluck. Its a very personal decision only you can make.
  24. Thank ya'll very much!
