    new and nervous

hey! the first couple months were hard! But now that i am almost a month post op I am soo glad of where i came. The pre op diet sucks big time and i was an emotional wreck! I can now eat mushy foods and boy can i tell you they never tasted soo good! look for the positives in everything.... for instance i used to not be able to walk hardly at all and yesterday i walked a mile ! OR when your clothes start being looser and you get full easier and faster. thats what got me through. good luck to you! message me if you ever need to talk
  6. walked a mile yesterday! haven't been able to do that in 2 years!

    Gas????

the gas is from them pumping air into your stomach and it takes awhile for it to all come out. walking definately helps the pain whenever i walk i normally feel better in a couple minutes or gettting the gas- x strips works great too
  14. thanks for adding me to your friends! would love to chat :)

some questions bout what to expect

i have only been banded for 6 days now but i know that i can't chug a drink too fast or i feel it for sure. you will have to change your eating habits... not just cut portions down but make healthier choices. I am told pasta doesn't go through the band too good and expands in your stomach more like bread. so if you eat that you may not be able to eat more protein that you need at the same meal. you have to chew everything like 25- 45 times before you swallow it so it will take a lot longer to eat then everyone else. it's also good to put your fork down in between bites so that it makes you slow down more. Also don't drink with your meals stop drinking at least 15 minutes before and 45 minutes after a meal so you don't eat as much. The liquid will push the food through and make room for more instead of a small amount satisfying you. like i said i only had the band 6 days ago so i can't say much more then that from experience best of luck to you!
  16. not yet but i want to do you ?

    New Here Banded 1-21-11

hey! let's be friends we went to the same dr! lol well anyway i was banded by dr. pasquarella or however you spell it on 4-22 i have lost close to 40 lbs now since i started the process 3 months ago. good luck to you and hope to talk more

    My Introduction :)

congrats on the weight loss so far! don't weigh yourself everyday it will drive you nuts ( i have to tell myself that too haha) and yes protein is so important. now that you are on the mushie stage you can eat more protein filled things (eggs, beans, tofu, hummus, fish) if you eat more protein filled things it will make you feel more full. I would still drink some protein shakes still or get the unflavored and mix it in your food instead of drinking it. hope that helped! oh and i was just banded on 4/22 but my dr has taught us well lol.

    Thinking about the Lap Band

i decided to because i got up to wayy more then i ever thought i would be and i have sleep apnea, border line diabetic ,pcos, and am infertile. I couldn't walk hardly and i had to use a scooter when i went to walmart. now i am 6 days post op and since i started this process like 3 months ago i lost close to 40 lbs already! i can walk around my neighborhood now and all my clothes are getting big now.
  20. clothes are starting to be big and i went to the store today and bought a 3x instead of a 4x! yay!

    New to lap band lifestyle

i am on day 4 of post op and i find i get emotional easily too well i realized that from the pre op too. i realized i have an addiction to food and an emotional eater. without that it is really hard. i seem to mope a round a lot more now and not sure what to do most of the time. Granted.. i am happy that only a couple oz of broth fills me up and the scale seems to be going down but not having that "friend" to turn to is hard
  22. hey i got your message would love to be friends and talk :)

    Hello from New York

i just had the surgery on friday 4/22 and beforehand i was on a 2 week pre op diet that consisted of oatmeal, raw veggies, yogurt, sugar free pudding, sugar free jello and no sugar added applesauce. I also had to drink 4 protein shakes a day... now i am on a clear liquid diet for a week and then i move onto pureed food, then soft foods, and then finally a regular diet. We too have to use a salad plate make half of it veggies 1/4 of it protein and 1/4 starches. right now i am not hungry at all and haven't been since the surgery but the pain where the port is is very tender. i am able to get up on my own but can't bend over or lift anything for awhile. I am also only taking a week off of work but the surgeon said that you could potentially have the surgery on friday and go back to work on monday. I live in NJ and if you want the name of my surgeon just let me know they are awesome

    Feeling sick

i got banded on 4/ 22 too but i seem to be doing a bit better. the most important thing is to walk walk walk. i know it is not fun but you have to if you wanna feel better any time soon. my husband has been like a drill Sargent getting me up to walk all the time. If it wasn't for him i would still be sitting in the recliner with an insane amount of pain! but getting up and walking around has really helped
