  1. I wrote her an email and told her-then right before I sent it I deleted the part about the lapband surgery. I like the element of surprise and I'll simply say to her "Well I did mention that I was going to get this done"
  2. Thank you! My hubby just asked me if I was ready for tomorrow and I said "Yep!" My Bandwagon Book just arrived so that will be some good reading while in the hospital!
  3. What does NUT stand for? I see a lot of people use this acronym-
  4. Someone I know who had the band wanted to see if I wanted to meet for lunch. I told her I am on liquids and she said everyone has the last supper the day before surgery. I never heard of this- I said no-but boy-oboy I sure could use one last spurge!!! Has anyone else eaten a regular meal the day before surgery? I am SO tempted but I have been so good all week.
  5. I don't have reflux but my endoscope said I had Gasterious (sp?). SO i'll need to take pills for that 3 weeks after surgery so it doesn't erode the band.
  6. Thanks! I guess he is nervous too. He said he had a dream that I was eating an almond hershey bar and was thinking that I shouldn't be eating that with surgery? WTH? LOL We'll see how much of a help he is post surgery. As for me I just can't let negative thoughts enter my mind!!
  7. Thanks! Do you get acid reflux a lot after surgery?
  8. My best friend for 40 years doesn't know I am getting the band tomorrow. She lives in the next state and we email each other every day. A month ago I mentioned I was thinking about getting the band. Her email back was mostly small talk then at the end she said she didn't know whatthat was. I sent her some info and gave her a little bit of a descriotion and asked her notto tell anyone. She replied back notto worry she wouldn't tell anyone. And that's where the story ends. She never mentioned another word and neither did I. I just didn't find her that much interested in it (she' s normal sized). It's not a jealousy thing-trust me it's not. Either she doesn't approve or simply isn't interested, or doesn't think I am that serious. So it feels weird going in and she doesn't even know. We don't see each other that often (maybe once every 2 months). Should I send an email letting her know or just wait till I see her next time ?
  9. When I go into the docs office I go in shell shocked-seriously! I forgetto ask questions and details! I went in for my pre-surgery consult and they gave me a prescript for Omeprazole 20 mg and told me to crush it up in applesauce each day after my surgery. Does anyone know what this is? I think she sais something about an anti acid but I could be totally wrong. I got home not having any idea whatthis prescription is for - I know I could call the doc. but I thought I see if anyone know first. Thanks!
  10. I can't believe a nurse would evr say that to you!! How unprofessional!!! I am glad you reported her! As far as your friend goes...well maybe she is thinking that you won't be eating anymore and that's truly what she meant. You'll have to say it to her like this: "That comment you made about not going out to eat with me is really bothering me, what ea=xactly did you mean by it?" and let her explain. I know my husband doesn't eat in front of me-it's weird. I guess he is trying to be considerate but he's allowed to eat in front of me! I guess some people think it's like quitting drinking or smoking and it's not something you do in front of others. Educate her and let her know that you can eat-but in moderation! If she meant that you will now be the skinny one and everyone else will be looking at you-well, what can I say-she's right!! LOL
  11. Tomorrow I'll be a Bandster!! So ready for this! Every time I lookin the mirror I think -wow, why did you wait so long? All I wantto do is wake up from the surgery-I'll deal with any pain as long as I make it throught the surgery-all prayers welcomed!! My hubby has been moody lately...not sure what that is all about. I would think he would be extra sweet and nice-but the last 2 days he's been quiet and grumpy. Now it could be that I have my period and I am having the surgery so I am extra sensitive I am not sure. I've also been a little teary-eyed the last 2 days. But I put on my big girl panties and snapped out of it! All I really know is that this surgery is about me-it means taking control of my own life and looking forward to looking in the mirror once again! You know that Michael Jackson song "I'm looking at the man in the mirror, and I'm asking him to change his ways" well that's how I feel-the change is goingto happen! I'll be sure to give you an honest update of tomorrow's events! Thanks you again to everyone on this forum! I have learned so much and have felt supported by you all!
  12. Look for drinks with a lower alochol %. I plan on have white wine over ice- hope the ice delutes the wine. I am avoiding carbonation for the first few months.
  13. I am on insurance and only saw him once-so I am not sure if it has a lotto do with self-pay. I am sure I'll see a lot more of him after surgery!
  14. Try GNC's Totally Lean Swiss Chocolate pre-made drink-buy 1 to try it. They are SO good!! I hate the powder stuff-it settles at the bottom and is nasty! I tried a lot of shakes and I like Carnation instant breakfast in a blender with skim milk and a 1/2 scoop of Unjury (ramps up the protein). I add ice to make it into a shake. The premade water/liguid drink aren'ttoo good. The best thing about GNC is that you can return even used products for a store credit-a really great return policy. I like Atkins butthe protein is only around 13 grams.
  15. I dipped my finger in the pizza just to taste a bit and again in some BBQ sauce. I think you'rw doing good with Tomato soup! I had French Onion-no bread or cheese and low sodium.
  16. My pre-op visit was interesting. She said that there's fat around the stomache and as the fat decreases you'll need a fill-probably 3-4 fills till the band is just right. Did anyone else get this info from their dr? This is the first time I am hearing about it.
  17. I only met with my doctor 1 time and my surgery is scheduled for Wed. Today I went for my pre-op visit but met with his associate. He was actually stanfing near the reception area and I was thinking-geeze this man is going to being seeing me completely naked and putting instruments in my body in 2 short days-and he doesn't even really know me! It was just weird. He comes highly recommended though. How many face-toface visits have you had withyour actual surgeon?
  18. Okay so I went for the scope and they found out that I have gastroenteritis which is a bacteria in the stomach. My doctor said it needs to be treated with 2 weeks worth of meds because it could erode the band and eventually cause ulcers-anyone else have this? She said I would have to wait for 3 weeks post surgery before I could begin treatment and treament would last about 2 weeks.
  19. I am the 25th ! Good luck to everyone!! IT's fast approaching!
  20. Some of this stuff sounds really good! I can't wait until I can eat omlettes again! I didn't know bananas can get stuck...that's good to know! Love salads so I will look forward to that-especially with summer coming. What is Protein-Peanut Butter Bread? Chilli also sounds good for mushies : ) I can't wait until I am on muchies- This liquid diet is for the birds!
  21. Congrats on finally getting it done! Hope you have a speedy recovery!! A single incison is awesome-is that the REALIZE Band? Part of me is wishing I researched it more and went withthe single incision too! If it's a single incision then what about the port-is that a separate incision? You'll be looking great-just in time for summer!!
  22. GNC's totally lean premade shakes are SO good!! I wish I would have tried it before I bought so many Atkins shakes! These are the kind of shakes you really look forard to having!! They say "new" on the bottle but I don't know how new they really are. 25 grams of Protein 170 calories 24 Vitamins & minerals Lactose Free I tried the Swiss Choc. and I highly recommend it. I went to GNC and just got 1 bottle to try out. They are a little pricey but worth it!
  23. Welcome!! Congrats on the big day coming up! This is the start of a new life! This forum will really help you with any questions you might have. Best wishes!
