Fat Around Stomach and Fills

My pre-op visit was interesting. She said that there's fat around the stomache and as the fat decreases you'll need a fill-probably 3-4 fills till the band is just right. Did anyone else get this info from their dr? This is the first time I am hearing about it.

Yes, I've had 4 fills. I'll be just right for a few weeks, and then will need another fill. It can be anything really - Fat around the stomach, swelling, etc. Some people go without fills, some people go with until they are just right and some go extra tight. It's really going to up to you on what will feel comfortable.

Don't be surprised after you heal and before your first fill that you will be hungry all the time. I was until about my 3rd fill. Just keep going and you'll get to your spot soon enough :)

YES, my Dr. told me the same thing, that is why, I think, I can have such good restriction for several months and then it seems to get less and less and I need another fill. I've been at my "sweet spot" more than once may I say!

I'm experiencing it right now. I was perfect for 7 months, losing steadily with 2.5 cc's in my 10 cc band, and for the last month I've suddenly been hungry non-stop and stalled at 180. I go in for my third fill this week-- I'm hoping it will get me back on track.

They include some fat between the stomach and band to help avoid erosion.

Yep! One more reason why the adjustability of the band is a huge plus- as your stomach changes, it can also be changed. And why it's important to trust and like your doctor's practice, you will be seeing a lot of them!

Its exactly like your belt getting looser, it needs to be tightened. Its not that you need more and more fill to keep your attitude in check, its that you need it to take up the space that's created by fat loss.
