  1. Hi sleeve sister! I love this tool also. It does feel so great knowing it's gone forever. I went shopping last night and bought 14 jeans!! That's 4 sizes down .

That is so great down 4 sizes. I haven't bought new pant yet I had smaller pants that I can know get into.but I only have 3-4 pairs that I can wear right now, I also have several pair that it may be another month befoer I can wear them. I was able to buy 2 shirt at JCPenney's this week, first time in 20 years I have been able to do that, usually Walmart or the big ladies store have been the only place I could find things that fit.

  3. Brenda,

Do you mean Thursday, May 20? If so, that's (literally) the only weekend I can't do this... as I am in a friends wedding here in town. :thumbup1: If you mean the weekend before, that's doable. Let me know. This would be a fun, and great adventure! Are you driving from PA to Reno? Ah!

    :blushing:

That might be doable for me, I have to be in Reno for bowling tourn. on Tuesday and my reservation for hotel is set up to arrive on Sunday 16th.

I could leave here on Wed. the 12th. Yes I am dirving to Reno.

  6. Welome to VST. You will be in very good hands with Dr Aceves. I had my sleeve done in Jan. and haven't had a regret at all. I plan on having the Tummy Tuck and what ever else is needed when I get to goal. They have a good plastic sergoen there also. I am 50 and started this journey at 335lbs, So I get the feeling the sagging is inevitable. So far the bat wing on my upper arms are getting flappier.

    Good luck with your revision.

  7. Thank you for saying that you're hungry all the time... I am as well. Not as badly nor ferociously as before, but it's there. So, this is harder than I had imagined, but I'm making it work... I've been waiting for meds for the H.Pylori I've been diagnosed with, and hoping this will help with the hunger... One of the side effects I read about for H.Pylori bacteria is hunger. So, we'll see.

    You're doing great! :(

I have had the same thing happening, I tried taking a previcid at night as well as the nexium in the morning as some have suggested but that didn't stop the huggeries. Usually just snacking on almonds helps. It mostly happens in the mornings till lunch time as I am not a Breakfast person, the only thing I can tolerate in the AM is a Protein shake. Then around 10AM I can eat something.

  8. I used Dr Aceves in Mexico, he has a very good reputations and is a very caring person. I would recommend him to anyone looking for the sleeve. He was a little more money I paid $8750 but I felt it was worth it, that covered everything but the flight to San Deigo. I have had no complications, and he has done over 700 sleeve surgeries wiht no leaks. You are in the hospital al but the fist night you are there. The nurses are caring and the place is so clean. The drs(Aceves and his asst. Dr Campos) come and check on you 3-4 times a day. They do 3 lea tests, and you get all xrays lab reports and a sugical report to bring back to your Dr.

    Good Luck

  9. Morning everyone - those of you who had the sleeve done without insurance - (which is going to be me in a couple of weeks) - do any of you have concerns about if you would have complications a few months/years down the road - would your health insurance pay for complications related to having the sleeve surgery done?

I was self pay and when I checked with my ins. about coverage and aftercare hey said since they won't pay for the surgery they won't pay for any follow-up care.

I'm 2 months post op and have had NO complications or need for follow up yet. You will need to check with your ins. and see what the policy is.

Research alot and find a Dr with a good reputation and one that has done 300 or more of the surgeries, thier complication rate is lower the more they have done.

    Good Luck

  10. I have been doing some research on her about what Vitamins people are taking. I had been taking a Gummy multi Vitamin and just started with a chewable Iron.

Can we take a solid pill? I am 1 month and 3 weeks out from surgery.

    Thanks

    Gwyn

I had my sleeve done 2 days ahead of you and have been taking whoole pills since week 3. Istill use the gummie vits and a sub-lingual B-12, Bp pill and nexium in am and 2 pills at nite. Where do you get the chewable Iron, I have looked at wal mart they don't have any?

  11. I finally feel comfortable posting here!! Down 38 pounds; surgery six weeks ago today. I lost 6 pounds pre-op. The list of NSV's in my life already is huge!! But that's another thread. I can't wait to be below 200 again - it's been so long - and I'm hoping to make my tax day a little better -that's my goal date for 200. Or should I say 199!!

My loss has been a little odd lately; I only had one stall to speak of and that was at three weeks out and lasted for a week. Sucked. Then, things started moving along pretty well averaging about a minimum of 1/2 pound per day - 4.5 pounds per week. Perfectly satisfied with that and I could DEFINITELY tell when I went even one gram over 30g's of carbo's - no weight loss that day or a few ounces, maybe.

Yes, I weigh every day. Just the way I am and it works for me. Some days - and I can usually feel it that morning when I wake up - I'll have dropped 2 pounds overnight. It makes no sense to me but I love it. Has been happening about once a week for the last three weeks and seems to be when my calories are between 800 and 900 but still with very low carbs. I cringe when my calories end up that high and am figuring out why (cheddar, very fatty, Bubba Burgers - even just the patty, lo carb and yummy but forget it) but my weight seems to keep dropping.

Exercise... well, um yeah... need to work on that!

I've never been constipated ever before in my life but am experiencing some of that. Gonna have to figure out a good way to get lo-carb fiber in. Any suggestions?

I also want to thank everyone that replies to my posts. My internet connection here stinks so I can't always reply in the moment, so to speak. But know that I am sending good vibes and thanks your way. I also wish I could be more of a cheerleader for those of you hitting rough spots. Do know that my heart is with you and I am happy to share experiences via PM or e-mail. Just holler.

I use Fiber Choice chewables. They come in a sugar free tablet, lots of fiber. They say 7grams of carbs but when you subtract the fiber it's ok. They don't taste to bad either very tart though.

  12. I took my very skeptical former nurse mother with meand she was very impressed with the DR's and the hospital and the level of care I received. Contact them Directly no need to go thru a cordinator. They are wonderful.

This is the frist major surgery I have had and had no complcationsand very little pain. Love the fact that I can now wear some of the clothes I haven't been able to wear for few years they fit again.

Ask lots of question we're all pretty helpful here.

  13. I too wieghed in over 300lbs, Have been over weight since childhood. I started out looking into the band but then found out about the sleeve.

i am verey happy I was sleeve. I have lost 35lbs since Jan 19,10.

Check out the program that Dr Aceves' has, he is wonderful. so caring,I wwould recommend him and his staff to anyone. They pick you up in San Deigo, you stay in a very nice hotel 1 night and 3 nights in the hospital surronded by caring nurses and 2 DR's that visit with you 3-4 times aday. Everybody on the ward is there to have surgery with Dr Aceves. so you will meet up with people having the same procedure as you. Ernesto the drive and Dr. Campos have both had the sleeve sugery. Dr Sceves has not had leaks and he has done 700+ Sleeve sugeries. You are in good hands with him.
