    Old habits die hard

    When I have a craving I fulfill it. I find that if not at some point I'll just binge. The big difference is that before surgery I would fulfill my cravings eating a whole bag of doritos, now I have 2 or 3 and I forget about it for a month or 2!
  2. My husband is an experienced surgeon (although not in WLS) and said when we were researching and even after he assisted my surgery that "technically" it is quite a simple surgery. Apart from what Tiffykins stated, I think the "wrong" way of performingy this surgery doesn't only apply to the anantomical or technical procedure, but to the patient, his background, general health, mental/emotional state etc. It's good that you're doing your research thoroughly and you could write down questions you want to ask your surgeon before deciding on surgery, it's a life changing desicion, which I am so glad I have decided to go for¬!"   3. I agree, the gas pains are the worst thing ever (even worst than pain after c-section in my opinion) but you just need to walk and get it out of you system, you'll feel much better in a few days, hugs

    Food in England

    I live in England and it's quite easy actually eating out, at most restaurants you can get dishes that are suitable for us, fish, chicken, beef, Soups. The good thing is that portions are MUCH smaller than in the States, and when you order just ask for salad instead of chips (fries). The chain restaurant Frankie and Benny's is quite good and can usually adapt the dishes if you ask them to. You can also order a starter as a main, I ussually orders king prawns for example from the starter menu as a main and they're yummy and full of protein! You can also go into supermarkets (tesco express-you don't want to spend to long in the supermarket!) and as Autmnlily said get nuts, or even little packs of ham, snack size peperami to have in your handbag in case you get hungry. There's a really good organic Peanut Butter without added sugar here that i find really good as a snack with slices of apple when i feel like something sweet. Just message me if you want any more advice, I'm 10 months out and eat out a lot, hope this helps

    Am I becoming bulemic?

    I am 10 months out and the weight loss has stopped, still hoping to lose the 9 lbs to goal, but I am enjoying having my sleeve so much! I can each mucmore now than when I was 4-5 months out, I can have 2 eggs and a piece of toast for breakfast, a chicken or tuna salad for lunch, just to give you an idea of how "normally" I can eat. Last night I went out for dinner with friends who don't know I'm sleeved and nobody even noticed me eating differently. I had a crab and avocado starter, of which I ate all the crab and most of the avocado and for mains I had seafood risotto, I had the seafood and hardly any rice cause I was full by the time I finished the seafood trying to get my protein in first. (This is England though and portions are much much smaller than in the States!) Just take it easy, eat what you can and find foods that aren't too hard on your tummy. At 6 weeks out I couldn't eat much either, so I would say make the most of it now and lose all the weight you can because in a few months time it's bound to be very different!

People tell me i look younger than my 42 years now, my neighbour even said the other day that i looked like i'm in my 20's (even though that was just her being kind) But I am lucky don't have much more wrinkles than I had before losing weight, and I haven't lost loads of weight like some of you out there, although I'm desperate to get to goal now!

    Has someone commented on your weight loss?

    My neighbour called me skinny mini, I ignored him and he said I'm talking to you! My friend who hadn't seen me for a while and didin't know about the surgery said, where's the rest of you! Today my 2 girls were in the car waiting for me to come out of the supermarket and they said mummy you're skinny we didn't recognise you!!

  10. I think I've heard that if weight loss isn't succeful with the sleeve that they can actually band the sleeve. I too at 9 months out can eat quite a bit, a whole small sandwich and maybe 1/4 of a chicken breast.

    I find it hard to believe too. I used to be happy even though I was fat, which is very different, but I am so much happier now that I've lost weight

    <br /><br /><br /> In my particular case I was advised by my Consultant not to have any more pregnancies, as my last 2 C-sections (she did both) were very difficult due to a lot of scar tissue between bladder and uterous, I wouldn't risk it, even if there was a 0.001 %, as much as I'd love another baby

    Oh and I have my tubes tied, after 3 C-sections it's a medical contraindication to have more pregnancies, womb scar can stretch and cause deadly complications, I wouldn't want to leave my 3 girls without a mother-which is why I chose to have my sleeve as well

    I too trust Him completely, but I don't think it makes me a hypocrite to not follow what the Catholic Religion dictates as the rule. I believe in a loving and comprehensive God, not a God of punishment and confusion, and I rest my case about religion

    I used to have that for lunch almost every day, sometimes I would have it in lettuce and when I was further out I would have it in a tortilla with tomatoes inside and put it in the panini press, heaven!!
  19. Hi, I am one those fat people who only had/have about 60 lbs to lose. All I can say is that I tried fasting, all fluids, and all the other diets under the sun since I was 9. I'm 42 now, and I would lose weight and then when I stopped the diet I would gradually put on all the weight, and more. To start with I was 5 lbs overweight, I ended up 60 lbs overweight (obese) It's just that all these diets usually don't work in the long term. I am sure that if I hadn't had my sleeve I would end up 300 lbs and with even more health issues ( at 220 lbs I had insulin resistance-the next stage would've been diabetes and pain in my knees) Now at 159 lbs not only have these problems disappeared but I feel so much healthier and I LOVE exercising ( I NEVER thought I would say that in my life!) Good luck with your sleeve

    I agree w Breezy. I am 9 months out and the skin is tightening up a bit now, I do exercise a lot though, and weight loss hasn't been as fast or as much as a lot of people on this forum. Plus I think a lot is down to age, genetics, lifestyle etc. I do plan to have a TT at some point, with 3 pregnancies and yo yo dieting since I was 9 years old (I'm 42 now) has taken it's toll on my body
  21. I was allowed coffee from day 1 after surgery, I have to say for the first few months I didn't really fancy coffee that much, now I'm back to normal, 2 or 3 skinny lattes w splenda a day.

    Any Easter Bunnies Cheating?

    I had a good 2 hanfuls of peanut m&m's, but i paid for it dearly, I posted it on another thread called "Do not do what I did" Today in the UK is still holiday, Easter monday, we were invited to a BBQ, i was fine, just a beef burguer and some salad, but I did have a tiny portion of chocolate cake and I was OK. I don't think of it as cheating, but from tommorrow I will detox and go low on the carbs!
