The pics. I could find of my before body:-)
  2. I just went on my first vacation post-op and I survived! I even LOST 4 pounds:thumbup: It was so nice to just relax and enjoy my family. We had a great time and I only had one instance where my sleeve gave me a lil trouble (it was getting some lobster to go down) It was so nice to spend a whole day and not worry about food. I wasn't hungry and food was not constantly on my mind. It was FANTASTIC! I can honestly say that this was the best choice for me and I don't regret it one bit. We have 1 more trip coming up before the kids go back to school and i'm looking forward to it now that I know i'll be just fine sleeve and all:cool0:! Yeah for VSG!!!!
  3. I have the same thing...I bruise alot more than I did before. Not sure why it is but i've noticed it too. I got hit with the ball a few times playing softball and normally wouldn't bruise with it, but since surgery I got bruises all the time. I'll take the bruise though, and lose the weight:biggrin0:!
  4. I am the same way 6 small meals a day which I don't usually get all of that in. I'm on more solid food now like chicken so I stay full longer. I would say i'm doing 4 meals with no snacks or anything. Everyone is different so it really depends on your body. I have seemed to lose that "hungry" feeling the last week, not sure if my sleeve is adjusting to normal but it seems i'm just not hungry lately. I think as long as your seeing results your doing fine!
  5. Great Job! Congrats..you look great. You GO GIRL:thumbup:
  6. Today has been a great day for 2 reasons, I went swimming:-) and actually ate some steak! We went swimming for about an hour and I did about 15 laps it felt so good to do some exercise other than walking. We had dinner at my parents as we do every Sunday, I asked my mom what she was fixing and was told steak, potato and salad. I thought I was going to be stuck just eating baked potato but she said she got filet's and they were really tender so I figured i'd try it. I took small bites and chewed very well and it was great! It went down and settled perfectly, it was so nice to get eat some meat other than chicken and lunch meat:-) Looks like i'm getting back to my normal diet and I also broke through my stall I was having this past week..2 more pounds GONE! Everyday gets easier and i'm loving this choice even more!
  7. Welcome and congrats on the wedding:001_wub:! Your gonna love the sleeve, it will change your life:biggrin0:!
  8. Just wondering how many carbs you guys try to have day. I know my cals are suppose to be around 800 which is fine by me I don't even get that many I don't think but I haven't seen anything telling how may carbs. I don't want to have too many but then not get enough to keep a good balance. If you guys could just let me know how many carbs your getting in a day and what's a good number to try and stick with..thanks guys:biggrin0:
  9. Thank you everyone for all the advice. I weighed this morning and vowed not to weigh again for a week. I am putting the scale away and only going to get on once a week from now on, I was driving myself crazy otherwise. I am starting my walking and now that my cuts are healed I can start swimming:lol0: which I LOVE to do so i'm very excited. It was nice to hear that everyone else had gone through the same things and I know that as long as i'm getting my protein in and staying at 800 cals, limiting carbs it's going to come off, just might take my body adjusting to it. Everyone's advice was so helpful thanks guys:001_wub:
  10. You guys are doing awesome! Congrats to the both of you..keep on losing whoo-hoo:thumbup1:
  11. Great Job! Sounds like everything is going great for you:thumbup: def. an AMEN on the vitamins..can't wait for those days!
  12. I was the same way and it just now slowed down. I'll be 3 weeks out tomorrow and it slowed about 2-3 days ago and it's stopped now. I was wondering the same thing but it did stop so don't worry!
  13. I am 3 weeks out tomorrow and I have been at the same weight all week. Agghhh I feel like i'm stuck:thumbdown: it's really becoming discouraging for me. I have been getting almost all my protein in maybe missing about 10 grams or so and have started my walking but i'm not losing. I have been drinking only water and not eating any more then 800 calories a day. Does the weight loss slow down this much or should I be trying something else. Any tips you guys have I would love to hear them..I just feel so down about it:frown1:!
  14. Happy to hear the tuna helped:biggrin0:! I hope it stays going good and positive for you! How's the hubby doing? Hope all is well in the household....it's great you got the chance to talk to the coordinator and up your ounces lookin' good for ya:thumbup:
  15. I wish I could help you more Christie but I have only had slight hunger pains and they were very far between each other, so it's not constant. I have had plenty of head hunger but no real bad hunger pains. Acid is killing me though it's waking me up at night for at least 2-3 hours..I just put in a call to my surgeon to try something else for it:-( I am eating solid (but soft) foods though. I have had tuna and chicken etc. I can only handle about 5 half spoons but it's something and it does help fill me up, maybe you should try some tuna it went down well for me:biggrin0: I hope you keep a positive attitude..everyone is different and I know it's all gonna get better, keep your spirits up:001_wub:
  16. I've been taking the chewable pepcid complete and had horrible acid last night, it kept me up for a good 2 hours! What would you guys recommend that I try..and I don't want to harm my new tummy with the carbonate:blink:
  17. Thank you for the link....I don't have to blend my food, is that normal? I've just been chewing really good! I'm hoping i'm not stretching out my stomach. All these worries about "real" food and how to know if i'm doing the right thing. I meet with my dietician sometime this week so hopefully I can get some answers from her too! Thanks guys:biggrin0:
  18. I am now able to progress my diet and see what I can tolerate. I have tried some soft ground beef, chicken and a couple bites of mac & cheese which are doing good. I also has 3 TINY bites of hot dog (baseball game, with no other option) and it wasn't as pleasant. I know to stay away from it right now. I'm just wondering what all of you guys did for your diet progression, am I trying too much too fast? My stomach seems to tolerate it pretty good just a lil acid after some of it. I do have one major question..I love salads so when did you guys try lettuce? I'm afraid to try it too soon i'm not sure how it would feel going down:blink:! Any suggestions and tips are greatly appreciated...just want to know what I should be trying and what I should be staying away from. So far i'm averaging about 800-1000 calories a day, including my protein. Thanks for the tips:thumbup:
  19. Yes..so happy to read your post! Congrats. on doing do awesome:thumbup: I'm one week out and feel the exact same way. Way to go! Amen..preach it:biggrin0:
  20. Had my 1 week post-op today with my dr. everything went great! 19 pounds down so far and he gave the green light for ALL activity which means I can start working out:001_tt2: watch these pounds fall off! He said I am healing very well and he'll see me back in a month. Starting life with the sleeve is wonderful:001_wub: @Bev-I use the laughing cow creamy swiss..it's in a round wheel with lilttle triangles inside. I also have the round semi-soft in swiss and cheddar.
  21. Yeah..Congrats! Sounds like your doing AWESOME:thumbup:
  22. Your doing great! Your are so awesome and congrats on the weight loss:thumbup:! Thank you for all the advice, your such a great person. Happy to hear your update.
  23. I am finally myself again..ahhhh it feels so nice! I talked to my doctor and he said to start full liquid since i'm doing so good. I have ate: pudding, soft cheese, oatmeal, grits and can't wait to have everything else that's on my list. It's so nice to only eat a 1/4 of something and feel full I have never had that happen before. My swelling is almost gone and I drink and swallow just fine now. I am drinking my Protein down which the thicker shakes do still have a lil trouble getting down, it just takes it a while to make it down. I am walking and doing everything I was doing before, we even went to the grocery store yesterday! Life is going so good now and I am happy to report I am now at 260! Last month before pre-op diet I was 280:thumbup:! I wanted to kinda tell my day by day story of post-op so here's up to day 6. Day 1- In some pain but dealing with it okay. Still on chips and sips but can't hardly swallow them down. I did throw up about 4 times while in the hospital due to the swelling in my throat. sleeping mostly as the meds are still in my system. Taking it slow but trying to walk a couple mins at a time. I am going to the bathroom but it did take me about 5 mins of sitting there to finally be able to pee:mellow:! Just resting...later that evening I got to come home..Yipee! Day 2- Ugh, the worst of my days I think. I did take some pain med this day. Still walking as much as I can, circled the bed I don't know how many times. Trying to keep my Fluid in, swelling is still bad in my throat and my sternum hurts with every swallow. Jello and sf popsicles are the only things I can manage to get down. Resting, resting, resting the best thing to do! Not too much pain form my cuts, they are looking okay. Day 3- Getting slowly better at standing and walking longer. Done taking pain meds and taking liquid tylenol. Still living off jello and my popsicles, although I do notice that luke warm Water goes down okay but still have pain in my sturnum. Resting as much as I can and walking around as much as I can. Woke up in middle of night with acid:eek: oh boy did it hurt! I forgot to take my pepcid before bed, not making that mistake again. Waited abouy 30 mins and fell back alseep. Day 4- I have arrived, the first day I finally feel normal! Swelling has gone way down and I can drink and eat my liquids so much better! I slept for the first night all the way through and feel great! I can sleep on my stomach now (just have to be careful rolling over.) Taking no meds except my pepcid! Tried getting some protein in today with a shake. I was able to drink about a 1/4 of it. Walking as much as I want and resting when i'm not. My first full night's sleep..it felt sooo goood! Cuts are doing good and still not having any pain form them at all. Day 5- I'm me, I'm me...well just without my stomach:lol0:! Today has been the best day yet. I am feeling so good! I am able to eat and drink like normal (with a sleeve) and feel my sleeve has finally adjusted and relaxed! I still get gurggles and burp with I drink but I know that's gonna be there for a while. I really haven't had any major discomfort. Took my first trip out of the house to the store. Had to get things for my full liquids week that I start:thumbup: thanks to my doc okaying me to do so! Full nights sleep last night also! Day 6- FULL LIQUIDS! Today has been GREAT...I had some oatmeal for Breakfast. It was so nice to get to chew and swallow something thick! Pudding for a snack (about 3 spoons.) Grits for lunch and then some soft cheese for a snack. I have been doing water and gatorade in between. I did drink my Protein Shake but it was taking a long time to get down so I might have find another one to try. Today is my first day home by myself with my 19 month old and we're doing fine. I am getting full nights sleep and feeling good when I wake up! I have my 1 week post-op appt. on Thurs. I'm starting to love this sleeve:001_wub:!
  24. @Samie- yes I do I live just north of Jacksonville! We have our season tickets and are always in g-ville come game day! Everyone keeps saying it does get easier and I know it will:biggrin0: I only have till tues so i'm hoping to stick it out until then but if not I might ask my Dr. the same thing. I'm actaully able to eat a whole thing of jell-o just takes me about 15 mins which I hope is normal:tongue_smilie: How are things at 2 months out?
