  1. I'm a former addict, so I viewed the first month of post op as my detox time and the things I did consume as medicine. I cleared my house of my drug of choice, food, before my preop diet. It was hard and in many ways even the physical symptoms of detox were there, but I got through it. Now in many ways it's easier. I still need sugar free Popsicles to get me through the really hard times but my goal right now is weight loss and loosening the grip food has on me. The best thing is that it's been over a month since I've snuck food. It's hard but it's worth it.
  2. That is great and that is my goal. Right now I've cut them by more than half, but I can't wait for the day they are gone. They make me feel so old!
  3. I need to go buy iron supplements.
  4. I did but I made myself walk at least twice a day, half a mile each time. The more you move the faster you will heal. My routine was to drink some water, take a gas-x, walk 1/2 a mile, drink some portein, sleep for 2 hours, get up and do it again. I got my water in and my protein too.
  5. When you have stuck episodes you will often get swelling for a awhile afterwards. Stick to the liquids for a day and drink plenty of hot decaf tea. It helps with the swelling. If you think you may have eaten too fast you probably did. I know I have the same issue especially if I eat with other people.
  6. Boca burgers don't have much protein in them. I checked today and it was 5gms I think. You need more protein to feel satisfied. 3 to 5oz of lean protein first (about 20 to 25 gms of protein) is what my NUT has me eat then veggies to fill you up. In the liquid stage you will feel full longer with at least 60 gms of protein a day.
  7. Hello, I scheduled my surgery to coincide with a big antique show we do inTexas called Round Top. I have a friend who told me she didn't have any issues so I figured I could have my surgery on fir day and help with the show on Wednesday. Boy was I wrong. I wasnt even taking pain meds. I drove about 6 blocks and was so shaky I had turn back. I did get out and shop for a few minutes at a local store that day but then had to go home and sleep. I did go to the show for the last day on Saturday but even that was a little much and I didn't have to drive.
  8. I don't get a fill until may 11. Up until the last few days it's been easy to stay at around 1000 cal but now I am getting hungry every 2 to3 hours. I really want a fill.
  9. If you are on clear liquids, don't expect much until you move to full liquids. That said when there is something, it will be liquid. Beware of accidents too, if you know what I mean.

  11. Hi Elizabeth, I get my first fill on the 11th as well. I'm a bit worried about how I'll feel afterward but I'll survive. In the first month I've lost 28 lbs and I'm down to a size 16. I feel great and my blood sugar is wonderful.I am so glad I did this. Last weekend I purged my closet of all the clothes that are too big. I kept wearing them and they looked terrible. I can't wait to see what next month brings.
  12. I had an oblation 3 years ago, so I still have hormones but none of the mess. Invariably, I go crazy, b@t#hy, and starting wanting to eat everything in sight, I think I've lost my mind then I remember, "I must be on my period". I happy I'm not cornering the market on tampons anymore but a warning would be nice.
  13. I haven't lost as much and I can see the difference but the person in the mirror looks foreign to me. Also I am getting to the point were I have to wear "normal" sized clothes. I went into a store without plus sizes and found a shirt I liked but when the salesperson asked if I needed help I put the shirt back and sort of ran out of the store. I realized I didn't feel good enough to buy normal clothes. I think I may may need a little therapy.
  14. I drink herbal teas, caffeine free with splenda. You can either drink them hot or iced. I like decaf chai tea too. They lots of flavor and they help with my head hunger by keeping my tastebuds entertained.
  15. Try making your own shakes with unflavored protein powder. One receipt I want to try calls for unflavored pp, iced decaf coffee, sugar free liquid coffee creamer or milk, ice cubes made for decaf coffee. Throw it in a blender and make your own frappacino. They also suggested a sugar free chocolate syrup, but not for me. Personnally I combine frozen berries, a banana, plain yogurt, unflavored pp, and crystal light each morning. I love it and that's good because I can't eat solid food in the morning. The important thing is to blend it well and then let it sit for a few mins and the blend it again so the powder gets a chance to dissolve. Get creative. Next week I am trying apples with cinnamon.
  16. Do you take vitamins? That diet seems a bit unhealthy. You starving your body and it's holding on to the weight. Eventually you will lose more weight with this diet but you can damage your body permanently.
  17. Hi Mandy, I hope you feel better soon.
  18. My dr said couldn't drive for a week and I couldn't. I tried but I got dizzy. My pain was better after 5 days or so, but really gone after a week. Hang in there it gets better pretty quick for most people.
  19. I don't think it's a big deal, but call your dr. You will feel better.
  20. Welcome back, great picture!
  21. I am praying for you. Let us know how it goes.
  22. FYI, 1 month out, my stomach still makes the weirdest noises. It does hurt any more but I think the whole room can hear it.
  23. What they say is liquids in liquid out. It fairly normal. Let your doctor know how both of you feeling. If he is using whey protein he ,ay want to try soy or hemp protein instead.
