I am a 27 year old female who has always struggled with her weight despite being very physically active (swimmer, lacrosse player, lacrosse referee, avid canoer), but managed to keep my weight 'reasonable' until I sustained a bad hip injury refereeing lacrosse in 2009. After many months of physical therapy, I was finally able to walk without pain again, but I had put on an additional 60 or so pounds, and I have never been able to really get back to refereeing and running and doing all the things I enjoy. I could have attempted hip surgery on both hips (I have the same problem with the other hip too) but decided to try VSG to see if I could get my weight down to a point where I am not in pain and am able to be active again. This is kind of my last hope, and I am nervous but hopeful that this surgery will be the answer to managing my lifelong struggle with my weight. I want to be 'normal' weight-wise, and I want to overcome this challenge I have faced for so many years.
