  1. Hi everyone, I'm a lil frustrated and hoping someone could shed some light and encouragement. I was banded on May 9th and only down 16 pds. I feel like I'm not eating enough and that's possibly why weight is slow coming off? I currently eat 3 meals a day , but at times I'm not hungry when its time to eat and then later on find myself picking at food (healthy stuff not crap like I used to do prior to surgery). I'm also not good at calorie counting and wondering if perhaps the Weight Watchers program would be better for me? I had my first fill last week and I don't feel much different restriction wise. I am so frustrated that this weight is not melting off like I thought it would - I sometimes feel like I'm failing at this :0/
  2. A few weeks before surgery I had to remove my nuva ring and I ended up getting my period twice in a month. I havent gotten my period yet and I'm 6 days late - so naturally I'm freaking out!! Hubby and I have been extremely safe- actually using condoms - something we haven't done in God knows how long !! Lol - I'm just freaking and needed to vent !
  3. Wondering what stuck feeling is exactly? I ate something last night and i have some discomcort in my lower thoat and between my breasts. Is this what being stuck is. If so what can i do to get rid of it
  4. I am 2 weeks post op today and started on 2nd part of diet which consists of cream Soups, oatmeal , applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt etc- but I've been hungry all day and sick of soups- so I cheated and had a cup of dry Wheaties Cereal :0/ I chewed it thoroughly and it went down fine - tasted soo good too !! But now I feel guilty and scared that I might have a bad reaction or something - I feel fine but my doc specifically said only liquids first month ! Ughh - this is not easy by any means ... Sorry just needed to vent guys :0( Getting back to routine and getting off this weight
  5. Thanks Ronnie ~ made me smile :0)
  6. Hi everyone, I dont know about you but since I've been banded (8 days ago) , Ive been stepping on the scale daily. I know its not good to do, but I cant help it !! LOL Am I crazy ?? I dont wanna get hung up on the number instead of the overall success !!
  7. I was banded on May 9th and as of now have lost 8 pds - and I'm not too happy with that number - I feel like I should have lost 10 plus - i mean I'm only on liquids for God sakes! Lol :0/ I'm probably obsessing over nothing - I Know I should be happy about the 8 pds but I'm scared that if it's not melting off now - it will slow down even more when on solids. Sorry - don't wanna soundlike a brat- just wanted to vent !
  8. Thanks guys - needed that !
  9. I'm 6 days post op and I get the same thing. ( very annoying) I did not have a hernia repaired so I'm assuming it's a Normal lapband thing. I've heard many on here say that they have difficultly burping and going to bathroom (getting gas out) so best advice is to walk , walk, walk... Easier said then done when in pain ... Lol- Good luck to you

  12. Hey ladies , This is gross but I have to ask. I had surgery on Monday May 9th. I have been going to the bathroom to pee with no problem, but have yet to have a bowel movement. I just started my Protein shakes today so I'm assuming this is normal? Is it? Thanks
  13. Hi ya'll I had surgery on Monday May 9th. The pain has been getting better, very slowly but now I feel my stomach rumbling. Is this normal? Could I really be hungry so soon after surgery? I started my Protein shakes today and really hoping that it helps :0/ I want to be a success story and any advice would be greatly appreciated. PS - any recipes for Clear liquids or Soups - to make it more interesting?? (although I dont think there is much that can be done lol) Thanks
  14. Hi everyone - I had surgery yesterday and the port pain is killing me. Yesterday was horrible and today is a little better, but not much . Also yesterday my chest got very tight all of sudden and I freaked out! Thought I was having a stroke or something :0( I called the surgeon ad he told me it was just gas - thank God- and that if my breathing was fine I should be ok . Very scary ! Can you experienced bandsters give me some advice as to what wil ease the pain sooner than later?!

    surgery date may 9th

Hi, I'm also scheduled surgery on May 9th. I've tried to push it put of my mind but its not working . The one thing I can say is that we must know deep in our hearts that this our chance to a better healthier life. I happened to be at the mall today and passed by Forever 21 and I smiled to myself- a store that I cannot buy in will soon be one of my favorites to shop in! We have to look at the positive instead of negative. It will be hard to adjust- but we will adjust. I know you will be successful- stay positive and lets check in with each other after our surgeries bandmate ;0)
  16. Hi , My surgery is on Monday and I'm starting to freak out !!! I went shopping today for post op necessities and it finally HIT ME - I'm actually doing this - my life is going to completely change. Then I felt my eyes swell up with tears and I had to calm myself down . I began to think- (looking down into shopping cart at tons of fluids) is this all I will be able to have for the first two weeks?? How am I going to do this??!! What if something goes wrong ?? What if I FAIL ??!!! I'm soo nervous that I've been eating like crazy the past few days (no pre op diet) - as if doomsday is approaching. I know deep down that I need to do this - for ME - but I feel really sad. Is this normal?? Its like I'm sad that I'm going thru with this - I guess cause it means that I finally have to admit that I can't do it by myself . Its as if I feel ashamed :0/ Uggghhh sorry guys - needed to vent - any words of wisdom would be very appreciated Teary eyed & Scared in NY :'0/
  17. Hi everyone, I'm scheduled for surgery on May 9th with Dr. Richard Pucci. I've heard great things about Dr's Pucci(s) ~ they are 3 brothers in same practice located in Suffern, NY and NJ. Wanted to know if anyone out knows of Dr. R. Pucci? Good experiance? Also, Dr. recommended I have surgery at Oradell Surgical Ambulatory Center vs. Good Samaritan Hospital ~ he states that center is state of art and the attention/after care rec'd by nurses will be better here. Anyone heard of this center? Experiances? SOOO nervous about all of this so any feedback will help. Thanks. :0/
  18. Pam , Thank you soooooo much. You have made me feel more at ease. I am supposed to have surgery at the Oradell surgical Ambulatory Ctr. but I'm thinking of switching to Good Sam ~ its closer to home. Again thank you ~ I will definately be keeping in touch. Good luck on your journey ;0)
  19. My surgery is scheduled for May 9th. I'm excited and nervous all at once. My surgeon asked me to get a Chest CT and an EKG as part of my medical clearance. Is this normal practice? Currently I do not have any health issues ie. high blood pressure etc, other than being morbidly obese ~ I'm 4'10 and weigh 214. Thanks ;0)

    Post Op Diet question

I know I have to be on clear liquids for first two weeks but I'm wondering ~ do I drink liquids throughout the day those first two weeks? Or do I have to have the liquids as if I were eating 6 small meals ? Maybe a dumb question but wanna be sure I'm doing this right when time comes :0/
  21. Hi all, I will be banded in May and going away for 4 day weekend vacay on 4th of July weekend. My question is this ~ will I be able to tolerate some foods 7 weeks Post Op. By no means do I want to pig out but it would be nice to have small portions of regular food while on vacay :0/ Thanks
  22. I recently told my co-workers and some friends of my decision to have LB surgery. I am pleasantly surprised of the positive reaction and support I'm receiving from them. I was expecting some negative feedback from a few but it has been completely the opposite. I'm very happy with the support I'm receiving ~ its made me feel more at ease with my decision to gain control of my life and health.

7 weeks Post OP ~ Vacation

@ CheckYes ~ you're absolutely right about this. Will not worry about this ~ I will eat for fuel ~ and focus on the ultimate goal !! Thanks
  24. Whoops ~ looked at my Rx and it is a chest Xray that was ordered not a CT.
  25. So just got the phone call that my surgery was approved !! As soon as I got off the phone, I was really excited ~ 5 minutes later the fears set in.... the what if's. I know this is the best decision for me at this point in my life but I can't help but wonder .... What if something goes wrong- what if I fail ?!? Also , do I tell my co-workers why I will be out for a week? Ughh so frustrating :0/
