About Me

Like many of you I have spent much of my adult life battling my weight. I gained weight with the birth of my daughter and never could seem to take it off. Looking back I was heavy but it really didn't get out of control until menopause started. When I hit my top weight I tried Optifast and it worked well for me, I lost 100 pounds and it all didn't come back right away. But, eventually the weight did come back and I started investigating what I could do next. My sister-in-law has the lapband and loves it so I started looking into having that surgery.

On my first visit it was suggested that I might be a better candidate for VSG so I started looking into it and lucked into this site. Thank God! You are all wonderful and I have been lurking here for quite awhile. The amount of information and knowledge is amazing.

I have BCBS Federal insurance and after I made the decision to have VSG I found out how different BCBS can be depending on the state you are living in. Unfortunately Wyoming still views VSG as "experimental" and so far has not been approving surgeries. My surgeon has been working with them and hopefully they will start approving surgeries on a "case by case" basis very soon. I am praying that it will not be that long until they change their view on VSG.

I will be hanging around here until they finally decide to approve my surgery.
