1. My doc said being sure to eat your protein, zinc, and magnesium helps! anyone tried that?
2. Yes, I did have a dear friend who died just having a D&C and one in a car accident! But enough of that, several friends just want my clothes!!! ha ha
3. I had a good one the other day, a relative was saying it was so drastic to cut away that much of an organ..... I told her "well my big stomach has not been doing me much good" Then she brought up the old friend who died, and I just said "the surgery is a lot safer than it used to be, it's done laparoscopically and you go home the next day." Less risk to my health than staying fat.!!
4. My BMI is under 40, I have a pre-op diet of 1200 cal, low fat, low carb for 2 weeks. It is designed to shrink the liver so that it is easier to move and there is less risk for damage to the liver. The diet my surgeon gave me is essentially 5 slimfast bars or shake and 5oz of lean protein with 2 cups of non starchy vegetables for dinner, and one fat.
5. :thumbup:I am starting my pre-op diet today with Dr. Nick, 5 Slimfast shakes or bars plus 5oz protein and 2 c veggie for dinner, I am allowed 1 fat a day. I have my sleeve May 17, so thought I would start it early as I am anxious to loose. How has the post op been?

Daryl Stewart in Denton, Texas??

I'm using Dr. Nicholson as the Baylor Hospital in Plano is a center of excellence for my insurance. I have met him a couple of times and he seems very good, I got approval in just a few hours. I was amazed, I was ready for a big battle and there wasn't any! His staff is awesome! Today is day 1 of my pre-op diet, will have my sleeve May 17. I'm starting a little early as I am anxious to start loosing, didn't seem right to binge all week.

First Procedure

In order for an insurance company to pay for plastic surgery it has to meet certain medical necessity criteria. If there are associated health issues, rashes refractory to treatment and the pannis is below the pubic area, back pain for breast reduction and a certain amount of tissue to be removed, they will pay. Just needs to be medically necessary and not cosmetic.

9. Thank all of your for your insight. My surgery date is May 17 and so far I have only told my grown children and a couple of close friends. Most are supportive and want to see how mine goes to see if they want the surgery too!! I do remember hearing these comments about a co-worker a few years ago, all behind her back. Women are so catty, I just remember how great she looked when she lost her weight. Everyone was jealous.
