  1. Hey all After surgery I had a hard time taking vitamin capsules and the chewable versions as well. When I went to my doctor's appt, they put me on to the bariatric advantage mulitvitamin powder. It's a nice fruity flavor and settles on the stomach easily. Thank goodness for it or I too would not be taking my vitamins. Sure can tell a difference too. not all draggy feeling like when I wasn't getting my vitamins in. Highly recommend Bariatric advantage mulitvitamin chrystals!

    Inspiration or Agitation

Know what you're talking about. The snotty gals at my last job...when they saw me loosing weight, they jumped into dieting. They would act huffy at lunch when I ate very little. One drinking diet shakes just glared at me at lunch times. Yeah I was having my lunch of 1.5 oz fish. Wooo! They acted like it was my fault that they chose to be on diets! Oh well. Bunch of shallow people anyway. Sure glad I don't have their shallow selves to be around anymore! On to better health!

    Winter makes me hungry!

Winter Winter go away!!!!! Before VSG I always got even more hungry during the winter months. Guess I was a bear in my past life. Feel the hunger and want to eat like a bear getting ready to hibernate. Thankful for the VSG surgery. Still having the cold weather only hunger. Regular days I could care less about food. Crave fluids only. Anyone else have this quirky hunger drive?

i think this is a bad thing

Did that here too. Wanted the crunch, but too nervous to swallow anything other than liquid at that stage. Heck, today at 2.5 months out I still do that when I get a 'crunch attack'. Eat healthy otherwise. Someone once mentioned pork rinds in another section here. No carbs and gives you that crunch you crave. Kinda gross to think what they're made of. Plus if you do swallow them they tend to 'creep up' your throat. So not a good swallowing food. Cures the crunch need though.

    Self Pay question

Seminar Sept 29th ish 2010. VSG Nov 10th, 2010. Liver shrink diet prior to surgery. Only had to drop 14#. psych eval. nutrition consults/classes, and exercise consults. Done in Oklahoma. Mexico would have been cheaper, but feel like I have more education because of the mandatory classes and follow up visits. New start on life= priceless

    i finally understand!!!!!

i for sure have never been one to like exercise. Sleeved nov 10th and down 41# so far. I always thought people were just full of $% saying they felt great after jogging or other exercise. Now I get it! It's not easy to get motivated to exercise, but when I do I end up having MORE energy and do feel good! I am so very thankful for this second opportunity at living a healthy life. here's to continued improvement for us all

    i finally understand!!!!!

Mandatory exercise consult from my doctor got me started. Pre surgery they gave us very simple stretches to do. No pain no sweat. Didn't seem like doing much, but you really could feel less stiff in day to day movements. Then after surgery walking not only got exercise in, but actually helped the tummy soreness go away. From there, I just kept on and was feeling better with the gradual weight loss. At only two months out I certainly feel less stiff and more flexible. My post op program exercise trainer has me doing 'simple' ab exercises. Easy to do, but actually work your abs- no sweat required Since it's cold out, I got a treadmill for walking purposes. The activity loosens me up and I have found that I can even run on it now. Short bursts at a time, but improving. It really helps to have the treadmill at home....1) I can hop on it when I have time- or even just a few min. 2) I'm more likely to use it in private- after all I'm getting all loose and jigglie ;P LOL 3) no hardship of gym fees. Oh and some 10# hand weights. All this is easier to do while at home. Instead of sitting inactive watching tv, I can catch a favorite program and it keeps me distracted from the fact that I'm actually exercising. Will say getting the motivation to start activity is still hard, but after the fact I turn into a person full of energy and even feel like doing more activity.

    Is this ok- for now?

about 2 months out and my stomach/tastes are pretty unadventourous. Turkey jerky, cheese stick, fish, sf popsicles and chrystal light. That's my go to's when I 'have to' eat. As long as i take my bariatric specific supplements, is this ok? Seems like there needs to be some veggies mixed in to be a 'healthy' mix, but there's just no room. Thankful for this second chance at life. just want to make it a healthy round;)

  10. VSG surgery was pretty much a non issue for me. After waking up from surgery, I was out walking the halls and taking ice chips. Think the worst of it was the gas ;p So if you can survive through a huge case of gas, you've got it whupped ;P Word of caution though.......Before discharge from the hospital. I felt great! Thought I'd better take a pain pill just incase the hour ride home made me sore. Oh Boy! I felt great and we went shopping. Kiddo had an extra good christmas. I bought toys I didn't even remember buying! Lortab makes me a shopaholic! ;P LOL But seriously, laparoscopic surgery isn't bad at all. Best wishes
  11. My doctor carries the Bariatric Advantage brands at his office. Anyway, I too could not tolerate the chewable vitamins. However, thr Bariatric Advantage wild berry punch crytals are going down great. It's a complete multiformula vitamin WITH calcium. Nice fruity taste. Good in water or mixed with some chrystal light. Hope this helps
  12. As the weight starts to come off and my skin gets looser, I really do feel uncomfortable in my own skin. Recent surgery and 41# down. Excersise going ok. getting on the treadmill and even jogging for a little bit Just now everything jiggles and feels like I'm wearing a baggy suit of skin. That's the only way I can describe it. Skin doesn;t look all loose but it really does feel like I have a baggy suit on. Anyone have any suggestions for body suits/ compression garments. Not just for slimmer looks, but to keep the jiggle factor down. ;P sounds silly, but that's how I feel. Any suggestions appreciated

    Protein Gelatin!

Supposed to be berry flavored, but not much taste really. About as exciting as jello gets

    Exercising with the WII

Yeah, I was wondering if anyone has tried the Wii fit or the biggest loser/ Jillian Michaels type 'games'. Give us a report if you have
  16. Sleeved 11/10. Very good recovery. Very minimal pain directly post op. No nausea- until taking chewable MVI (that's another story). Anyway, when does the change begin? Comming up on 2 weeks post op soon. Chrystal light and SF jello all the way. Weight loss....Lost the #10 of fluid given to me via surgery, but other than that only about 3#. Always thought the weight loss would be so much more dramatic! Just don't understand how my body could NOT be melting away with taking nothing in! It's just like nothing has changed! I know I know...just need to chill out and wait for it. Just wild seeing all the stories on here with all the seemingly 'instant' success. Still doesn't seem real that I've even had anything done.
  17. Does this sound right? The first two weeks post op instructions say clear sugar free liquids. A 'thin" (clear liquid) protein supplement may be taken if feeling week or hungry after fluids are taken. But for the most part if full on SF liquids, no protein supplements are to be taken. I always thought you NEEDED protein to heal.

    Protein Gelatin!

I purchased the gelatin post op- It comes in packets of POWDER. You heat 2 oz water to boiling then dissolve the poweder in it. Then, add 2 more oz cool water and chill in the fridge for 90 min. Not exactly whip out for a quick snack, but with some planning it's a good option.
