  1. Mine was not biased either way, at least not for me. I know a few patients that had originally wanted a band but because of behaviors or health issues decided with the doctor to go the other way and get a bypass.
  2. I told both of my children. Now my kids are very young (6 and 4) and I don't think my 4 years old really had any grasp of what was going on. My six year old however was very interested in everything. After my surgery we spent a lot of time watching "Big Medicine" which she really enjoyed. She know that Mommy wanted to be healthy and that I had tried everything else. We talk alot about health in general and making good food choices.
  3. HP you out there anywhere?
  4. I am 5'6" and am in a size 14 at 195 pounds.
  5. They did say only about 30% of patients have a transfer of addiction.
  6. I got a lovely Christmas card from ZZ today =)
  7. I would binge on whatever was in the house. Or fast food. Or candy. Or anything. I even remember sneaking entire boxes of twinkies out of the freezer as a kid and eating them all in my room. Now my binges are more under control. Like the two cups of sugar free hot chocolate and one slice of toast I just ate. Funny how now I consider that to be a binge.
  8. And IMO this IS what the band does. This is how the tool works. WE do all the work to lose the weight. We work our asses off dieting (eating healthier as some may call it) and working out. We get the weight off. But when we are burned out, tired, stressed, then our bands come into play. The band our insurance policy against putting the 100 pounds back on. It is there to hold our place until we are ready to push at losing again.
  9. Sometimes some sugar free hot chocolate will help curb chocolate craving for me.
  10. Armpit boobs here too! The back fat does get better I think.
  11. I totally did too. I was completely non sexually crushing on her for the rest of the day lol. I get called skinny a lot these days (even by my really skinny friends) but I am certainly not skinny.
  12. UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! babygrl1234…………200…………..195…………195……………….0 I think I made it =)
  13. There is no way i could have stopped that binge.....
  14. Speaking of being snipped my OBGYN suggested that I get a endometrial ablation to help with my excruciating long and painful periods. I am not exactly sure on how I feel about becoming sterilish. I am 99% sure I do not want anymore kids but down the road I don't know.... I think people are so used to seeing us heavy that when they see us at a normal size it looks alarmingly thin to them. I have about 40 pounds to lose and people don't think I have that much left to go. Well they are also used to seeing me at 280. Right now I do look tiny to them, whereas if i had always been thin I would look normal.
  15. Okay I swear I am not getting on the scale again until next week lol. I need to stop my scale obsession.
  16. That is awesome J! I did another three miles yesterday with .1 miles walking breaks between each mile. I never in a million years thought I would be running. Much less 9 miles in 3 days!
  17. I think people with a bypass lose without exercise but isn't it pretty rare to drop 100 pounds in 6 months while banded and sitting on your arse?
  18. You are doing pretty darn good yourself Arm!
  19. Mine does not chop the ice out of an ice cube tray, though if the ice is crushed a bit first it will chop it. I have used mine for maybe a year and a half and it is on its last leg now. It is a great device but IMO you can buy an "off brand" one at like Walmart that will work just as well at half the price.
  20. I am loving the fact that not only do I not have the callous, but I can usually pull my jeans on and off without zipping or unzipping them.
  21. The Angry Elf So they do exist........
  22. I dunno I personally think exercise is the most important thing in weight loss. Now in breaking plateaus, writing down what you are eating is definitly top dog.
  23. I am not sure how money is going to be looking then but it does sound like fun. I wold be good to see you guys again.
  24. Thanks B. I am glad to see you are taking off some pounds as well.
