A modern day prophet of sorts...

I am not going to lie, I do hope that happens. And by seeing that happen it is going to increase my respect for him and his administration. Just because my man lost does not mean that I am going to sit around and dwell on it. More than anything now I cling to the hope that President elect Obama will turn our country around and make believers out of all of us. I will admit that even though he was not my choice, I am slowly seeing the things that everyone else was excited about before the election. I just hope that he follows through and brings our country the leadership we desperately need.

Tap-Vibrating mascara, you say? I've never been one to turn down vibration. I guess I wll have to find some dope of my own. Susan- Intolerance is one thing I can't stand. Just because I don't believe in something, or don't agree with something, does not make it okay for me to put someone down. I truely feel so much get lost in the message if it is delivered improperly.

Just posting to say why is it that some people have to give my religion a bad name by shoving it down other's throats? Plain can I get some of that Flouride dope minus the flouride?

Just saying. And let me reiterate that I think it is wonderful that you want to share Jesus with others. But again there is a way that is helpful and a way that is hurtful. Shoving something down someone's throat when they don't believe your views is not going to change their mind. You catch a lot more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

I have worked in resturants and bussed tables and last I checked I was a total white girl. In fact in few places I eat around my house it has been teenage kids and little old ladies bussing my tables. And I don't forget that my family came here from Poland. However, at the time they did so they followed the rules and regulations that came along with it. Things were different 100 years ago. I have no problem with people coming here from other countries, but I do have problems with them doing it illegally. As for the crotch fruit, I just saw it as a very funny way of saying children. Maybe I am nieve but I saw nothing racist about it. Please, if I am wrong, let me know because after reading it yesterday I must have used the term at least 12 times because it made me laugh so hard.

I agree with you there. I may believe in a flat tax for everyone, but along wtih that flat tax needs to come a disappearance of loopholes. Why can't we all just be generous and get along

Even though I did not vote for him, I hope he is that man too. I do believe that governement is part of the problem, but also many who need help can't get it because of all the people who abuse the system. Those I see at the grocery store paying for food with WIC coupons while wearing designer clothes and buying booze and cigarrettes with cash. Those who file unemployment while getting paid big bucks under the table. Those who claim marital separation to get support while their spouse is still living with them and they never were separated. Any other scam to get money for nothing. These people must feel some sense of entitlement because why else would you deceive the system? I really believe it happens more often than we think.

Donna I am not trying to paint anyone with a "shame brush". I said most people, not all people. For everyone like you who does their part to help others, there are plenty who do absolutely nothing and still demand more. I am sorry if I was not very clear in my meaning. I wish that everyone was free to give as they pleased and the governemt did not take money involuntarily. But unfortunately there are too many who would be unwilling to give anything at all. And there are people who are in true need. What we need is a system that can define those in true need from those who feel a sense of entitlement to welfare.

The problem is Patty, that not everyone believes that God created them. You believe it, I believe it, but it means nothing to someone who does not believe. So you can't expect to have an arguement with someone who doesn't believe what you do. Someone has to come to know God and follow in Jesus's path on their own, not by someone shoving it down their throats. I spent my younger years going to Catholic mass and have tons of religion shoved on me. I resented it and I hated it. I did not want to be near it. Now that I am older and I am chooing this for myself am I finally feeling the sense of what Jesus meant for a church to be. And I never said you attacked me. Nor was I trying to attack you. I just think that sometimes people are so passionate about what they believe in that they lose focus on how to make their message heard in a productive way. Do you really think that calling people who are pro-choice murders is not harsh and is in any way productive? And if you think I was for President elect Obama, I was not. However, he is going to be the leader of our country. He has 4 years to prove me wrong, and I certainly hope he does. As for the goverment taking our money, well the counrty is not going to fund itself. I wish that we could give as we wished and not had the governement "taking" it. However, until this country is full of people who put other's needs before their own wants, it is not going to happen.

Acts 4:32-35 I bolded the anyone. Of course times are different now than they were back in the days of Jesus. You can't just sell off all of your possessions and expect to survive. But too many people today put their own wants above others needs.

Patty, there is a productive way of sharing your views and Christianity and there is a very unproductive way of doing so. When you go out on the attack, using strong words and judging people, no one wants to hear the message behind those words. It is no wonder that so many people view Christians as intolerant when they read responses such as yours. It is the reason that so many people feel unwelcome and shunned from the church. The church is supposed to be a welcoming community that draws people in and when people are constantly belittled and judged they will never want to be part of that community. Who wants to be made to feel bad about themselves? Everyone has their own crosses to bear and that should not make us intolerant of them.

I cut my own grass and clear my own dinner table and I am an American. Your comment seemed to be doing a lot more sterotyping that anything Beth wrote.

I do not think that everyone voted for Obama because of his skin color. I think many (hopefully most) people who voted for him voted because of his platform and want for change. But I also believe that race did play a factor.

I absolutely disagree. I have voted in several elections where I currently live and also voted in the last presidential election. The demographics were absolutely different this year than any other time. Overwhelmingly different. I truely think that if the races had been reversed, as would the results. Don't get me wrong, I think it is wonderful that so many people got out and registered, and voted. But I feel that many did it for the wrong reasons. And it is equally pathetic those people who would not vote for him because he was black. I know several people like that and have given them a piece of my mind. Sometimes I wish we could have blind elections, where you only get the ideas and platform of the candidates, but not the gender, ethnicity, or any other physical attribute.

BJean, I have given the bird many times by scratching my face. But I am just passive aggressive like that. :tongue: I will be voting for what I see as the lesser of the two evils. Aside from not agreeing with his views I just do not have a good feeling about Obama as a person or a president. That being said, I really do hope that if Obama is elected (and it is looking that way so far) that 2 years down the line I can say that I was wrong. Whomever wins this election has a long road ahead of him and I can just hope and pray that they can help our country fis some of the problems we have created.

And cold, cold, cold walking into work at 4am. I want Arizona right now....
