  1. I took everyones advice including mine and decided to call my surgeon. After playing manhunt with the hospital they finally located him and connected us. He ask me to come in IMMEDIATELY. Practically face me an hour to get to his clinic. Once I was there they did the usual Pre testings, then I finally got to see him. After touch around my mid section trying to locate my center of pain, he noticed the internal tenderness. He advised me to check into the ER and he would inform the ER of my current state. So I left and proceeded to walk to the ER fatigue, weak, hurting and naseaus. Once I got there they checked me and I had to approximately 20 mins in order for them to check me into triage. The wait was ridiculous but worth it because all my docs and nurses were well-informed about my situation.

First thing this proceeded to do was give me a X-ray to test for leaks... I drank that disgusting liquid sip, sip, sip, gulp. I practically threw up over the guy, I even forewarned him about this potentially occurring. After the test was complete he told me that he found no leaks, but did see a lot of acid reflux in action. I was very excited to hear that because I really didn't wanna go back under the knife for nothing, the no leaks part not the acid reflux part.

After returning from the Xray they drew some blood, flushed me, gave me some nasea meds and some morphine. The stomach pains subsided and I'm actually able to breathe in and out normally w/o any pain. So that's a win in my book. Now I'm laying here waiting for the cat scan to be completed. I drank some ice Water and my god it was the greatest thing to me lol. I've been drinking room temp Water since day 1 of surgery so this was practically a new/missed sensation for me ...

I'll be back with updates a lil later

  2. When did you have your surgery? I did too much about 8 days out and was in pain for a day. It was mostly muscular though and I didn't really have any "deep" pain. Are you still having the problem a few hours later? My doc said if my pain meds couldn't bring it below a 6 in the first three weeks' date=' to go to the ER to just be safe.[/quote']

Late April I has my surgery. I didn't start feeling this pain until yesterday evening. I medicine helps but it's extremely short term. It makes me dizzy with the feel to vomit every now and then

  3. Find a trainer who also has a nutritional background... The combo is great. I use to be a personal trainer for New York Sports Club and my motto was always to teach not coach. Every client I ever had I taught them how to train themselves and they loved the feeling. The only time I coached was when I knew thy WEREN'T giving it their all. I personally didn't have a nutritional background but I took many nutritional classes that helped me help my clients.

Be prepared to find a personal trainer that will listen to everything you say and adopt it to your current situation in order to create a solid workout regiment just for you.

  4. When did all the stomach pains and cramps subside for everybody post opt? Because I'm. Out to seriously go get an X-ray to see if it's leak related... I really do not want ant internal damage so I wanna get this checked out... I put an ice pack over my belly a d it seemed to get better but I rather be better safe than sorry

Also I started Feelin this pain as soon as I ate some egg drop Soup

  5. Lesss than 2 weeks out and I'm fitting into my clothes like a pro. Even my sneakers fit lovely. Thy use to hurt a lot if I wanted in them too long but now they fit so comfortable! My button ups use to be tight around the belly area, guess what??? They are even loose when I sit down lol... Everybody knows if the shirt is tight standing up it even tighter sitting down lol... I'm feeling grateful for this sleeve. I still have the heartburn and upset stomach dilemma but it's getting better day by day... Btw I have this crazy craving for something carbonated lol... Any way my last day of full liquids is Monday then I start mushy foods in over 3 and a half weeks!

  6. I am on a double dose of omeprazole. 20 mg a.m. and 20 mg p.m. they found ulcers when I had my EGD so that is why I am on that dose. I am to take it for 6 months. I swallow mine' date=' but I asked if I was healed enough to do so. I really feel it after I eat, when I wake up and at night. Certain foods make it worse.[/quote']

    Well I'm on a triple dose lol.... 7am- 2pm- 9pm-

It's the only way I'm able to eat with suffering those awful lava burns of the stomach

  7. To Jimmy' date=' my acid reflux just started this week and it is extremely bad when I first wake up! Have you figured out what is causing it, or is it everything you eat or drink?[/quote']

Do not eat anything with oil, sugar or spices... Stach can't handle it... But it will get better I promise... Mine still bothersome but no longer troublesome

  8. Is anyone experiencing bad acid reflux? I'm not eating much' date=' so I'm wondering if the Syntrax apple ecstasy Protein powder or the prune juice or v8. If anyone is taking acid reflux medicine, are you crushing it or swallowing the pill? My doctor put me on medicine yesterday, but didn't tell me how to take it.I'm 3 weeks postop today, and have lost 30 pounds and started on soft foods today.[/quote']

I've had bad acid reflux since I've jumped from Pre to post. My DR said to crush the pills but i take him both ways whole and crushed. They reflux is driving me crazy! In the beginning I got it A LOT now I only get it a few times a day. It hits me the hardest in the morning and at work. I hope this **** passes soon cause I can't stand it. :(

  9. My doc and nutritionist first told me "never again" and when I started laughing hysterically' date=' they also laughed and said "ok, 3-6 months." I probably had a few drinks after 3 months and once I hit the 6 month mark, I drink at the same level socially I did prior to surgery. I do notice it hits me a little more quickly but I also sober up more quickly . . . I think my body is metabolizing it differently. I generally either have a few beers (which I love, and just sip slowly because of the carbonation - out of a glass helps) - or vodka and typically crystal light lemonade or diet tonic.[/quote']

Yeah all doctors WANT to say never again lol but they know we won't listen...

Alcohol is a big part of the social contract lol

  10. With all do respect your comment sounds like a justification of this eating disorder. Eating disorders' date=' like other addictions, are listed in the medical diagnostic manuals as psychiatric disorders. The actions of these psychiatric disorders have negative effects on our bodies. I agree that gum starts the digestive process. However, you aren't missing getting nutrients when you spit out gum as you are when you spit out food. Also, if you Google it, you can find people talking about stomach ulcers, rotting teeth and other issues from it just as people who suffer from anorexic and bulemia do.

I hope anyone doing this seeks help if they need to in order to stop this behavior. It is dangerous to your body.

Best of luck to everyone on their journey to a healthier self![/quote']

I don't know if you read my previous post but justification is not my stance on the matter at hand. Chewing gum and chewing and spitting are the same exact thing. The only difference between the two is that the person who chews gum and spits it out are actually eating and the ones who only chew food and spit it out aren't. So you will see a lot more ulcers but rotting teeth? I don't buy it unless they are either vomiting often or not brushing their teeth.

  11. It is an eating disorder if it becomes something done on any regular and consistent basis. The danger of it is when you start chewing' date=' your stomach starts to produce all the acids to breakdown what you are about to swallow. If nothing is swallowed, there is nothing for the stomach to breakdown except itself. I read something a long time ago and, to my best recall, this is what it said. If you Google it, I'm sure you can find out all kinds of info on it.

    ~Amy[/quote']

I do understand what u mean but chewing gum has the same EXACT effect. So it's really not to harmful for stomach. It's more of a psychological issue and less biological.

  12. Hang in there "esheldon"..... you'll be glad you had this done at some point and the regret will be long gone. It does suck early on with the mushy and liquid only stage' date=' no other way to put it. But it's temporary and shall pass. When those cravings hit me early on and I couldn't eat those types of foods, it helped me to distract myself some and go for a walk, play with my kids, do chores, etc. Basically whatever may be fun and/or can help distract you from that food. Pulling for ya man![/quote']

Question: why are you on creatine? That's a weight gainer

  13. You gotta be patient your body is still healing. Everyone is so concerned about the honeymoon stage that they lose sight of the real tool.

Yes some is may lose a lot of weight during the first couple weeks post op and that's only because they are on a liquid diet and their body is trying to heal a traumatic wound. BUT some people are opposites, they lose less during the honeymoon stage and gradually start to lose much more after that period of time.

My advice to you is keep doing what your are doing and eventually you will see the change and feel it also. Just be patient... I highly doubt there has been anyone in the world who has been sleeved that did not lose weight. Trust me. Your time will come!

  14. Do this is not wrong UNLESS it becomes habit forming an you start to unconditionally do it without actually knowing your doing it. Now you are practically trading in one eating disorder for the next... Tread carefully, the waters are deep on this one.

  15. So with NO appetite all I find it extremely easy to look at at food w/o craving it. It's an awesome feeling. My family order pizza the other day with all the works and it looked delicious. I mean it would be selfish of me to tell them "NO, you can't bring that in house cause you know what I'm going through and what I need to do to get where I need to be"... I mean this decision was mine and MINE ALONE. They did ask for it but they said they would support me. So I already knew deep inside that my burdens shouldn't be theirs. Then I came to realize that the point of surgery was not only to lose weight but to actually learn how to control yourself around food. This was a test for me and I passed with flying colors. Even though the pizza was delicious I used my WILL to negate the thought and in the process used my selflessness to allow my family the meal they so desired w/o having to walk on egg shells around me. This was definitely a win/win situation for me and it felt great...

has anyone else had a similar predicament?
