    Engagement is over

Hugs on calling off the engagement. That was a very courageous thing for you to do for yourself! You deserve to be with someone who supports you through all walks of life! Hang in there on the stall, I know it is frustrating, but you will push past it! Good luck on your upcoming YOU time!

    Drain Pain

I didn't have any drains, but I wanted to say good luck! A friend of mine experienced the same symptoms as you did with her drains.
  3. I started using straws at about 2 weeks post op with no problems. I am a big fan of straws and am glad that I can use them with no consequences.
  4. Mine started at about 3 months post op. It was horrible for about 2 weeks and then seemingly stopped. I thought I had gotten lucky, however, last week it started falling out horribly again (I'm now 4.5 months out) and my hair is definitely thinner. Thankfully, I had very very thick hair to begin with, but I have lost a substantial amount at this point with no end in sight.
  5. I had my gallbladder removed about a year before I was sleeved. My surgery was at 8am and I was home by 12:00pm that same day. I went home and ate lunch, took it easy all day. The next day I went shopping with some friends for a coupld of hours. It was a breeze! Immediately following surgery I had difficulty with dairy products. It took about 2 months before dairy products didn't go straight through me. Thankfully, that wasn't a problem for me after the sleeve. For me it was about the same as the sleeve. I had a very quick and easy recovery from both surgeries. Just remember to get up and move around as soon as possible. You will definitely feel better in the long run! GL, you will do great!!

    Would you sleeve again?

I have no regrets and would do it again in a hearbeat. I have had zero complications. No nausea, no dizziness, no food introduction troubles, absolutely nothing. I am 3 months out right now at 60lbs down! I am extremely pleased with my decision and the flexibility the sleeve has given me as far as leading a normal life and not being restricted in my food choices. I haven't had any regrets and would 100% recommend this surgery to anyone who inquired!
  7. This is where I had my sleeve on 6-7-11. They are FANTASTIC. My surgeon is Dr. Josloff. I love him, he and his support staff are wonderful.

    Travel After Surgery

I traveled 1 week from surgery and was fine. I did not have a drain, so of course that made a difference. My main challenge at 1 week post-op was feeling fatigued faster than normal. I was able to put in full days but I was definitely needing to go to bed earlier than normal. I also was back to normal activities as far as going to classes, and my clinical rotations were concerned, so vacation is definitely something you could do as long as you take care of yourself, listen to your body, drink lots since you will be in a warmer climate and could dehydrate easily. GL with your decision and congrats on your upcoming surgery!
  10. My leak test was done during surgery. I did not have to have an additional one.
  11. I've lost 30lbs or 18% in 5 weeks. GL to you!

  13. I think it just depends on the person. I have been able to eat an entire egg since about 2 weeks post op. I'm 5 weeks now and I am definitely able to eat about 3-4 oz at one sitting. A good friend of mine had the same surgery two weeks before me and she is still not able to eat a whole egg but other foods she has no issues getting 4 oz in per meal.
  14. I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been reading the boards for a couple of months now and hadn't had the opportunity to post. However, now that I am at home recovering I thought I would say hi! My surgeon was Dr. Jeffery Kolff at Abington Memorial Hospital. I live in the greater Philadelphia, PA area. I had my surgery Tuesday afternoon and was discharged Wednesday afternoon. I have been doing great so far, no complications and no side effects yet, and haven't taken any pain meds since Wednesday. Last night I walked around a store for an hour w/ my husband which felt great! I am definitely pretty tired still but overall feel great. I am not getting a ton of my full liquids down, but I am still doing well sipping & drinking the yogurt and Protein shakes. I will probably have lots of questions in the next few weeks & months! I look forward to getting to know you all and learn from your experiences.
