  1. OMG I do this too! I tell my husband "look around and show me someon that is the same size as me". He rolls his eyes! lol
  2. I've lost well over a 100 pounds since my surgery. I went from a size 28 pants to a size 12. Problem is, when I go cloths shopping, I still go to the plus size section. Just the other day I bought a cute shirt - 3X! When I put it on the next day, it was clearly too big! Am I crazy? Does anyone else not "realize" how much weight they have lost?
  3. Just wondering if anyone's health insurance paid for any reconstructive surgery? I'm going to need a total lift. I know my insurance won't pay, but I'm wondering if they may pay for a breast reduction.
  4. I can't get used to this new site. I was pretty familar with lapbandtalk.com. This site has been difficult to navigate and find forums. Can someone please tell me where I can find the exercise forum? Or does it not exist anymore? Thanks!
  5. Prior to LB surgery, my highest weight was 340. I am now about 219 and I exercise A LOT Prior to surgery, I had some bilateral knee pain but that's about it (I'm hitting 50 this year). The last couple of months I have been experiencing some back pain. I don't know if its because I'm carrying a lot of extra weight up front (boobs and belly skin) or if I'm over doing the exercise. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought losing weight would help any pains you were having? Any suggestions?>
  6. Hi everyone. I was wondering if others have this issue. Are there foods that you just CAN'T eat? For me personally, I cannot eat, french fries (a good thing), hot dogs and some ground beef. If I even try, it gets stuck and my tum is irritated for the rest of the day. Just wondering if this is normal.
  7. Just curios as to how are you doing? Also, (if you don't mind me asking), what was your out of pocket expense for all your surgeries?
  8. Hi there. The more weight I lose, the more I see I'm going to need surgery. Can you all tell me how you paid for your TT & Breast Lift?
  9. Okay, so I've had 4 fills and one unfill (a few months ago). I had my last fill on August 24. Anyhow, I've noticed the last week or two that I am rarely hungry. I only eat when I'm actually hungry. Is this okay? Someone told me that is not a good idea because that will cause me to store fat. Any thoughts and opinions is appreciated.
  10. I had a feel about 2 weeks ago and all went well. I did the post fill instructs no problem. This is my 4th fill. Anyhow, everything was going good until this weekend. I can’t hardly hold anything down. I have the “stuck” feeling constantly. Could I be too tight two weeks after a fill?
  11. I had my 4th fill last week. Prior to the last fill, I could eat anything and any amount I wanted. Today I had a hard time keeping 1 cup of soup down. Can 1 cc really make that much of a difference and provide this much restriction?
  12. Thank you all for your answers - great help! I want to re-iterate that I'm not "hiding" my surgery or trying to keep it a "secret". I just wanted some time to deal with it and get used to it on my own. I guess I should have also mentioned that my MIL lives in another state and I have talked to her person a total of 3 times since we married in June.
  13. Like I told my husband, at some point I will tell everyone but for now, I just want it to be the selected few. I'll give it a few days so I can cool off then I'll talk to him again.
  14. I'm very upset with my husband! When I finally decided to have the lap band done, I discussed it with him and he has been very supportive. I had surgery on 9/30/2011. Prior to surgery, he asked me who i was going to tell. I told him I wanted to get used to the idea and "new life" and then would tell everyone. He felt it would be best if I told my adult daughter (in case something happened when he wasn't around). I agreed and told my daughter and my sisters - all of whom have been very supported as well. I didn't want to tell my parents or my sons for a few months. Nor did I want to tell anyone else for awhile. This is a big change for me and I wanted to have time to take it all in. Well, Saturday he informed me that he "decided" to tell his mother! I was absoultely furious with him. I feel very betrayed - i haven't even told my mother! I asked him when he told her and he said a few weeks ago. So as you can tell, I'm venting. My two questions are: 1) Do I have the right to be upset 2) who have you told that you were banded?
  15. I had my surgery on 9/30 and my first fill was on 11/3. I didn't have much restriction after (I went from 3 cc to 4.5 cc). The last few days, I have felt "tight" and have great restriction. My question is, is it normal for you to have restriction 3 weeks after a fill?
  16. Hi, I didn't have fatigue but in addition to taking my Protein shakes, I made sure I took my multiviatmin, Calcium and B12. I think that helped a lot!
  17. Thanks for the info. I was banded on 9/30 and am constantly "full" even though I haven't eaten anything. I have a post-op appt tomorrow so I'll see what my doc has to say as well.
  18. Hello everyone. Well, I had my surgery on Friday and all went well. I've been taking it easy the last couple of days but I have been sticking to my post op diet 100%. For the heck of it, I jumped on the scale this morning. I gained 2 pounds since my pre-surgery weigh in!!! Did this happen to anyone else? I'm totally bummed right now!
  19. :)Albuquerque, NM in the house!
  20. Thank you all for your responses. Very interesting. So can anbody eat Subway Sandwich? lol That is my favorite food ever!
  21. Hi Joe, I don't have any advice since I'm going to be banded on Friday. I just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!
  22. I'm FINALLY getting banded this Friday 9/30/2011 :Banane29: Happy Dance Everybody!!! Anyway, I had my final meeting with my nutrionist last week. She told me there are several foods that folks that have been banded absolutely can not eat (across the board). Just to name a few: Bread Celery pizza Flour tortillas (what the heck, I'm from NM !) Anything that is breaded My question is, is anybody able to eat any of hte above?
  23. Good question! I'm on my last week of the pre-op diet. My diet consists of 2 Protein shakes a day and 1 cup of Soup. I can also eat as much SF Jello as I want and 1 cup of SF pudding. My calories have been well under 1000 a day. I talked with my nutrisionist last week and asked her if I should be counting calories or protein grams. She said at this point, definately protein grams. I need to make sure to get in at least 63 g of protein daily. Every physician is different!
  24. I'm on a 3 week pre-op diet and have to drink TWO Bariatric Advantage drinks a day. I add a bit more than 8 oz of Water (very cold) and use a little Hamilton Beach blender to blend it really well. Then I chug it down fast! lol Seems to work okay.
  25. My surgery date is 9/30. I went to my first support group meeting last night and it was awesome!! I can hardly wait!!!
