  1. Hey Everyone- It is hard for me to talk about this but I need to know if anyone else has experienced this.....I assumed losing weight would increase my self esteem and then in turn increase my sex drive. I have found quite the opposite....I have lost quite a bit of interest in realtionships all together and sex is the furthest thing from my mind. I know I am suffering some post-op depression....but has anyone else experienced this?
  2. Dr. P Shah was my surgeon, absolutely adore the man!!!!! I live far away so I am not able to attend the support groups that is why I was trying to reach out via online.......because I was feeling depressed. This is really neat!
  3. Im 30 and had it done in Nov. 2010
  4. Hey Lorraine- So cool I also had my surgery there....same practice just different dr. I am 9 weeks post op and have been struggling with the same feelings of depression. I actually have done very well with the weight loss went from 253# to 208 this am. I try and remind myself that we underwent major surgery and our bodies are trying to cope with alot! Plus the liquid phase is the pits but as soon as you can start eating normal foods you will feel like a whole new person. I have decided that the depression I am having is because it has been there for a long time...I used food to cover up uncomfortable feelings though. Now I cannot use food the same way and those feelings need to be dealt with. And they will as time moves on.....food was my bandaid.....now its an open wound. Ok so do I sound like a crazy person or what????!!!LOL What do you think?
  5. Hey Miss Diva- Listen I think no matter what we all say we may not have stalled but definitely "cheated". And u havent gained which says ALOT! I skipped the pureed phase pretty much all together. So please be kind to yourself. I have a post-op diet but what my dr. and nutitionist suggested was an 800 cal diet during losing phase then bump it up to1000-1200 when ready to maintain. So maybe you should refocus and aim for 800 cal to get you back in losing phase. Healthy choice came out with a bunch of new steamer options not the baskets that most are around 200-250 cal. I am a person that needs to eat several times through the day so i eat those alot because it is good has alot of Protein...I aim for 60g...and it allows me to have four to six meals a day. I also eat egg beater omelette with 2 turkey sausage links for bfast...which is 150 cal and keeps me pretty full. I dont really watch carbs except that i always eat whatever protein first...then eat veggies...then carbs and I find that 2-3 bites into the carbs Im done and satisfied. I already am afraid I eat too much but maybe you can try a few of my suggestions and please let me know if it helps at all.

    Thank You

Hello Everyone My name is Cait and I am very new to all of this. I have been monitoring this site for several weeks but I guess a little afraid to contribute. I have to say this site has been extremely instrumental in helping me through some of the rough spots in realizing we all experience similiar things. I always joke and say I literally have been overweight my entire life because my two older brothers and I weighed over 10 lbs at birth!! LOL I guess looking back at pictures I looked great but always felt heavy because I developed earlier than most of my friends who barely weighed 100lbs entering high school. But my weight is a result of genetics but finding comfort in food. Food has been my best friend and enemy all at the same time. I always say that food addiction is a complicated addiction to have because we have to eat to survive but it also our drug. Crack addicts have to stop and cannot touch it again to remain in recovery. I /We have to stop over eating but still have to use food to survive. I remember hitting 200 lbs over 10 yrs ago and thinking OMG I cant believe I am a 200#er so you can imagine my surprise after many yo-you diets hitting over 250!!!! I had my sleeve nov. 8 2010 weighing 253 day of surgery. This morning I was 212. I am really hoping to make it to my goal of 150. But I really am glad to have this forum for support. :)
  7. Hey Girl- I am very new to this site but boy I am glad I joined. I had my sleeve one month ago today and everything you said is exactly the reason I am reaching out. I question all of the time if my hunger is out of control! LOL I do not even know the exact amount of calories I should be aiming for so I keep it under 1000 but like you...I am hungry all of the time. I get full fast but 2-3 hrs later Im ready to eat. I have friends with the bypass that tell me their docs told them they should be eating several times a day so as long as you are not gaining I think you are fine. I too was on an anti-depressant that helped curb the appetite so if you recently stopped that could contribute. I was also wondering if I am alone in the fact that I "cheated" with some of my time frame restrictions. In other words I advanced my post op diet as I felt necessary and as tolerated mainly because I just couldn't handle Protein shakes and liquid anymore! Any thought on that?
