  1. Is it unusual for there to be a bit of a delay in "issues"? I had a fill last Monday, followed the rules to a T and started softs on Wed evening (mashed potatoes)...on Friday, I had a Clif Builder Protein bar...no issues.

Friday night, I went to Taco Bell w/ my fam. I chose a Mexican pizza and had about 3 tiny bites and it all came back up. In about the same form it went down...tho I did CHEW!!

So, since then I've not been able to really eat anything. My shakes are even iffy...?

I have had Fluid removed twice and Dr says I am WELL BELOW the "normal" capacity for this far out (July 2012). I seem to be hyper-sensitive to a fill, and certainly anything more than a "smidge" will not work at all.

So, I AM drinking Water w/ no problem. Just sips.

Should I just take it easy for a couple more days? Maybe I just over-did it too soon? I did follow his instructions, but maybe I did just get in a hurry since I'm so touchy.

Also, I have a LOT of gurgling noises that echo around my throat...is that common??

I've lost 46...20'ish more to go. I don't want to go backwards...

    Thanks!

    Kim

pizza anything... including taco bell because its dough doesn't normally go down... at least for me... and esp after a fill! anything with yeast swells when wet and therefore is more likely to get stuck... I know this isn't the case for everyone on this sight but im pretty sure its like this for majority of us on here... I would def go back to square 1 and do the liquids and then try softs again.... im not an expert but its just what I think I would do!

  2. Epsolm salt is in drug stores near the peroxide usually . Comes I. What looks like a milk container/juice container... Pretty cheap it's an old school remedy but I find it works great also if u get an infection it helps to draw the infection out so it has a few purposes :) got my date with Shaun t later tonight lol

thanks I will def keep this in mind! lol on the date with shaun t... you know what I hate? when he says hes nervous about a workout...it horrifies me!

  3. I've tried the insanity and that is too advance for me. lol I do have some of the video games. like the Zumba but my doc said I need more cardio.

sprinting is really good cardio... you don't have to start off with 5 min... take your time in progressing toward it... and the biggest loser workout def has some cardio... jumping jacks... jogging in place... jump rope.... just to name a few that I can remember from that game and the game is kinda old so im sure you can buy it used for cheap... also bike riding is really good cardio!

  4. insanity! I also have the wii game system... xbox works 2... but ive done the biggest loser on both of those it def worked in the beginning and then I stopped that and started with the gym... ive also been going to a park lately and sprinting for 5 min and then walking for 5 and then sprinting and then walking until im to tired to do anymore... but everytime I go I try to do one more lap then the last

  5. I know how you feel I have a friend that got her surgery done 3 months after me and reached her goal weight at her 1 year mark... I have had mine for almost 2 years and am still 15 away from my goal and it is not moving granted it came off fast in the beginning but its def frustrating to see other people there and yes when you have the band we know the mistakes we make I know mine is drinking my calories rather then eating but I also know her faults and they can at points be worse then mine but she dropped it so much faster and didn't really work out and still doesn't but her weight doesn't move... I on the other hand have been killing myself working out at this point and I am getting nothing... my weight has not moved either! its def not fun but like you said everyones body and band are different! I guess all we can do is continue to try... watch your calories... workout... talk to your doctors... ask ?s... ask your dr if he/she has any suggestions... I sure would like to know if there is anything else that would help!!!

  6. If you feel up to it, just take it slow and pay attention to your body's signals. Walking for a few minutes is still activity even if it's not an intense workout, so that may be a good place to start. Resting is ok, too! Sometimes the activity will make you feel better, sometimes worse, so just go slow.

    thanks!

  7. i have a cold and a slight fever should I be attempting to work out still? just wondering because I heard somewhere I think it was from bob on the biggest loser that being sick is your bodys way of telling you to rest... and if I shouldn't work out what does this mean for insanity? do I pick up where I left off or do I restart from the beginning?

  8. Insanity wow !! I just statutes t 25 on day 3 after these 25 days I might try insanity. For sore muscle try taking a bath with Epsom salt.

after doing it for a week and 3 days my muscles are starting to feel better but thanks for the advice what is Epsom salt and where can I get it?

  9. Sojo- "Insanity" is a work out series. 60 days of intense work outs.

Jenn- I read a couple of blogs, and they say if you miss one start where you left off...but that your conditioning seems to suffer a bit.

Good Luck! I'm too sane just yet...I'll have to work my way toward insanity :)

thanks so much for your response and reading up on it! im still at the beginning stages and only missed one so hopefully my conditioning wont suffer much ill be sure to workout for now on before watching a movie! lol! thanks again!

  10. Ok so I just started insanity on Monday I was going to do my workout last night but I sat down to watch a movie with the kids first and fell asleep...so what do I do? do I start off today with the one I missed and instead of skipping sunday workout then or do I just stick to the schedule and not worry about missing yesterday?

  11. Drink lots of Water to help flush out the lactic acid, eat a banana, and try icy hot or something equivalent. Stretching and a hot bath should also help. I've never attempted insanity but my legs felt the same way after a 6 mile bike ride when I haven't biked in 10+ years. It sucks!!

I will have to try a hot bath tomorrow I wish I had thought of that tonite before I showered! whew amazing riding a bike 6 miles! ive done spin class and im sure we didn't touch 6 miles and that was painful! Thanks for the tips for the sore muscles!

  12. You can do it!! No matter how sore you are in the morning work through the next workout. You will feel better after working out even if you are extremely sore. It does get better and soon you will be amazed at how much better you do on each workout and the results you see. As for sore muscles try stretching a little more but the best thing is to just rest and do it again tomorrow. You'll probably be sore for a good week but it's that good I kicked some butt sore. Be proud of yourself every time you wince from the pain.

(I did Insanity twice and loved it)

wow twice is amazing I cant even imagine doing it just this once! Thanks for the support and tips! And although im in pain it feels good knowing that im attempting it!

  13. You go girl! I've never done insanity, but I know someone who has and she had remarkable results in a short period of time. I had trouble keeping up with the Biggest Loser At Home Challenge. I think Zumba or some other dance-based program will suit me better...at least until I get in better shape.

ive always wanted to try zumba but am to shy to do it alone and everyone that I know is just to shy to do it at all... but yeah the first day of it was tough but id really like to stick to it and get this last 16 lbs off! Im just hoping i can! Spin class is a great way to burn calories as well! and some instructors play good music!

  14. Day 1 of insanity is insane!!!! and that was just the fit test...lol... I am excited and nervous about day 2! you don't realize how much your not in shape until you start insanity!!! I hope I have enough willpower 2 see this through!

  15. I just finished insanity asylum...were starting insanity next week! My husband sells the DVD series if your interested! Amazing workout. I feel I get a better workout than I did at the gym because its full body and changes daily! WWW.beachbodycoach.com/fullyfitbymike

whats the difference between insanity and insanity asylum? my friend has the asylum and I was gonna start with her but just out of curiosity im wondering what the difference is?

  16. that's a normal thing in the beginning... they call this part of the surgery lap band hell because you've had the surgery and your expecting it to work right away and it doesn't work like that unfortunately... you will eventually catch up on your fills and it will do wonders... I agree that you can call the surgeon and ask for a fill but it will depend on the surgeon this is your healing time and that's what they may tell you! and as hard as it is and believe me I know how hard it is I def cheated during that time after surgery and im sure there are many of us out there who did but the only thing you can do is try your hardest to stay on track with you diet!

  17. well there are a lot of medical reasons why your insurance could/would cover it if you have insurance and if you do call them and find out... if not I can not help with the price I do know a lot of drs have payment plans though....How soon after the surgery can I go back to work? once again it varies and depends on what kind of work you do but most people within a few days to a week...I know the portions will be small, but I see on some of the boards that people can't eat certain foods - why? I thought you just eat less of what you normally do? you def eat less then normal but a lot of foods like Pasta and bread swell when they get wet and since you have a band around your stomach its much smaller then it is now so it wont go down and a lot of meats are dry and you cant chew them enough to have them go down but once again it varies for everyone... there are people who can eat bread and pizza and pasta and have no issues with it at all they just don't eat as much as you would be eating now... with lap band people typically eat about a cup of food maybe a little more but its def a lifestyle change! Lap band was the best decision I ever made and for the most part im extremely happy with it! Do your research though! and most surgeons require you to attend a seminar and in the seminar you will learn more about the band and sleeve! Hope this helps!

  18. Jen, let me say thanks for doing that study! I think there are a lot of things that are still unknown about the band and why it works for some people and yet not for others.

Part of the reason is that I think obesity is not just a physical issue it is a mental and emotional one as well.

I am fairly new to the band, but I can tell there are days when it is not just the physical feeling of having the band. There are aspects to the way it affects the nervous system both the central nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system or the reactive emotional nervous system.

Finding that delicate balance for each of us is not an easy task. Everyone's "green zone" is as different and diverse as each one of us and seems to change as we do.

So what worked for you before the study may have shifted a bit, and needs a little tailoring till you find that balance again. You're doing amazing and thanks again for taking the time and the challenge of that study to help all the rest of us learn more about the band and how it works.

    Thanks for understanding!

  19. ok so I just spoke to the nurse on the phone I have a appt with my surgeons aprn nxt Monday and the nurse said to just eat mushies and don't drink anything to hot or cold after I eat just have it be room temp?... she said after having the Fluid out and then in and then out and back in it can agitate the stomach so stick to mushies for a few days and if things don't get better within the nxt few days call and they will get me in earlier...I did however do that for 4 days after I had the last fill so I would imagine it would've had some time to heal no? I will do what im told and hopefully itll work itself out! I will keep you guys updated!
