SURGERY ON 09/02-I HAVE NO PROBLEMS?
I was also able to drink alot and have had no issues eating. I am a little over 4 months out now and have NEVER been sick or anything. The only problem I did have was when I first went to soft foods, they sat really heavy in my chest and throat for a while. I had to thin them alot and only eat a few bites. I got full really fast. My dr. said I was still swollen and it would go away. It did and now I can eat anything without issue! Kelly

I NEED YOUR ADVICE!!!
If he likes you, he will like you for what you are and not what you look like! I personally have not told a sole (except hubby about mine) but I think I would if I were you. That way, if he is only interested in you for your looks, then you won't get hurt when you are skinny! LOL Kelly

how long is the 3 week stall?
I am a little over 4 months out and am having my first stall. I am 10lbs from goal and it is soooo upsetting to do everything so right and not have that damn scale MOVE!! Hopefully, when the stall ends the 10lbs will magically disappear! Wishfull thinking! Kelly

Should have NEVER told my mother
I am a little over 4 months post-op and still have not told a sole, but my husband! FOR THIS EXACT REASON!! I didn't want to hear negative, ignorant rants about what I should or shouldn't do. I knew what I needed to do and I did it. I am an adult and made an adult decision with a medical professional who was HIGHLY capable. I am very glad that I did it and glad that I chose not to say a word to anyone about it. I may tell my mom one day, but for now, I am not! Kelly

Recommendations for Vitamins???
These are what I take: B12-Natures Bounty sublingual Calcium Citrate- Bariatric Advantage chewy bites I have the lemon, chocolate and caramel. I also have the Calcet bites lemon and chocolate and Citracal + D. I like variety!! Multi-Centrum I buy the Walmart brand-same ingredients and ALOT cheaper. Until I was able to swallow BIG pills at 4 weeks, I did the Bariatric Advantage Orange chewable multi. Iron- Bariatric Advantage Chocolate Raspberry Truffel chews and Ferrous Gluconate supplements from my dr. (I am anemic and have to take more!!) Hope this helps! Kelly

when was your turning point?
I became SEVERLY anemic after surgery and felt sooo much better about week 2 when I told my PCP and got on strong iron supplements. As far as the eating, I was able to eat more about week 3-4 when i got off full liquids. You really can not get a lot of nutrients being on those liquids. Believe us when we say It will get better!! I Was Preapproved And Now After Gastric Sleeve Surgery Insurance Is Denying Claim. Beware!
They usually will deny what they bill because the dr's want to charge $500 for something and the inusrance only will pay $280. They have negotiated pricing on everything and will not pay above that. Insurance companies DO suck!! I work for one. However, re-submit it and send a copy of your pre-approval letter. Kelly

sundae???
And this is EXACTLY what keeps me from eating sugary stuff now. I am afraid of doing just this! If it has more than 6g of real sugar in it, I don't touch it! KElly

Potential Side Effects list
Just so you know, there aren't ANY drugs that you can not take with the sleeve. I take slow released drugs and do fine with them. The bypass restricts medications you can take. My dr. told me that there are NOT any pills that are restricted with the sleeve long term. Being cold sucks, but it comes and goes. Kelly

How many minutes between bites of food?
In the begining, maybe the first couple of months, I used to time myself and wait a couple of minutes. I have a REAL BIG fear of getting sick from eating too fast or too much!! I eat a lot faster than I did then at 4 months out, but I still wait about 30 seconds in between bites. I measure my food and undereat my sleeve. Kelly

Gone forever
I am allowed to have bread if it is well toasted. I have had 1/4 of a toasted orowheat thin a couple of times, but it sits really heavy on my sleeve, so I avoid it. I am 4 months out. Kelly

Able to drink more fluids than I was told
It is totally fine! I too could drink and drink after surgery and can now at 4 months out. I have never had an issue. Liquids just run through and will give us NO restriction what so ever if they are just water like. Be glad that you can drink more. You will not get dehydrated! Kelly

Make ahead Muffin Melts

eating when losing 50+ pounds
I am with Foxbins on this one! My plan tells me to measure my food and I do. I eat 1/2 c of dense Protein, which is about 2-2.5 oz three times a day. I usually can finish it, but it depends on what it is. I try to eat a bite or two of veggies at dinner and a bite or two of fruit with Breakfast and lunch. Sometimes I can't, but I try. I always eat my protein first and if I have room, I do. Most of the time, I don't have room for anymore. If I ate sliders or didn't eat my protein first, I am sure I could eat ALOT more, but I follow the rules and therefore, I can't! I sometimes have a couple Snacks during the day to bring my calories up. Kelly

sundae???
Breyers makes Carb Smart Vanilla ice cream and it is really good. It only has 4g net carbs and 90 calories in 1/2 c. I have had it a couple times when I was needing it in the past few weeks. I did not eat it until about 4 months out tho. I am afraid of eating sugary things for fear of getting sick, but my husband found this and I thought I would try it. It really tastes good for it being so healthy! Kelly

Medications
There are NOT any meds that we can not take with the sleeve. That is what makes it such a great choice for most people that take medications. Also, my PPI is time released. Kelly
-
Is this normal?
I don't know what plan your dr. has you on for your food stages, but you really should follow them. They give them to us for a reason and eating things we shouldn't too early CAN cause damage. Be careful!! Kelly

worried about not being able to take certain meds long term
with the sleeve, NO medication is off limits. You CAN take anyting. It is the bypass that you are not allowed to take things. Kelly
