How do you reward yourself now?

I get facials regularly and have for years. I think my reward these past few months have been all of the clothes I have had to buy! LOL I love shopping and getting to try on and buy things that actually look good on me now that I am a size 8! I will contiune to "reward" myself as I continue to lose! LOL Kelly

    sleeve diet

It varies from person to person, but I am 4 months out and I typically eat the following: Breakfast I will have a scrambled egg, I can eat almost a whole one if it is plain, but if there is cheese on it, I can only do 1/2. If I have a couple strawberries or some other fruit, I am only eating 1/2 of that egg too. If I have boiled eggs, I can eat 1 1/2 of those. I eat meat sometimes 2 oz is my max of any dense meat. lunch I eat maily meat, again 2 oz and I am done! I usually only eat the dense Protein at luch time. I like tuna, salmon, foster farms meat balls, turkey burgers, hamburgers, tri-tip, any steak, chicken (that is what I had today), meatloaf, pot roast, grilled sausages, etc. I try to stay away from luchmeat as it is softer (not as dense) and has a lot of salt in it. dinner again more dense meat, but try to eat 1-1 1/2 oz to save a bite or two for some veggies, this is about the only time of day I eat them and usually only a few times a week, so I try to save room. I just take a bite or two of hubbys potatoe, green Beans or salad. It doesn't pay for me to make my own! LOL Snacks I like beef Jerky, peanuts, almonds, greek yogurt, Pure Protein Bars, more dense meat, cheese, fruit sometimes, granola thins from nature valley are yummy. I try not to snack too much, but have to some days to get my caloires up because I can eat so little most days. Hope this helps you. kelly
  3. I would think if those things really worked to being with NOBODY would be fat! Save your money and work your sleeve! Kelly
  4. Noboday knows I had WLS except my husband. Not even my family!! I don't want to hear the negative comments and ignorant crap that comes out of people's mouths! You don't have to tell anyone anything. Your work can not ask you any questions if it is medical so just leave it at that if you want. I told them I was having a hernia repair which I was supposed to do, but found out I didn't have one after all! Best of luck to you! Kelly

Having trouble getting food down!!! Help!

I had that too when I went to solids. It is just that you are still swollen in there and you need to find other things to eat. Is it everything makes you feel that way or just certain things?? For me chicken and eggs were the WORST! They sat in my throat for hours. I never puked either, but sure wanted to, to make that feeling go away! Try things that are less dense, that will help, if it doesn't, go back a food stage for a day or two and then try introducing a food or two again. That is what I did. Kelly
  6. That is a little over 1/2 lb a day. What are you upset about? That is great. At that rate, that is 15lbs a month. THAT IS FANTASTIC!! Celebrate every pound lost and know that you will never see it again!! You are freshly sleeved and probably are holding on to surgery weight. I gained 12lbs during surgery from fluids. It will come off. Don't worry. I have lost 50lbs in 4 short months. It will happen!! Kelly
  7. I had a good summer. Thanks for asking! Spent a lot of time outside exercising this summer. YAY. I have 11lbs to go to goal. It is getting harder and harder. Have not lost much in the past month even though I am being diligent and doing the right stuff! CRAZY!! I hope that it will continue to come off and that I am not done! We will see. Kelly

    What made you do it?

On 4/9/10, I went to the dr. because I was having chest pains. I had to lay on the table at 280lb, naked, and have an EKG done, while 2 women a man, and my dr. starred at me!!!Thankfully, nothing was wrong with my heart and to make a long story short, it was just a pulled muscle! That scared the crap outta me and I stopped smoking that day and haven't smoked since!! YAY ME! I was alread diabetic and taking high blood pressure medication at that time. I thought a lot about what my life would be like if I didn't change it. I cried a lot for the next two weeks and knew that I could loose weight, but would just blow back up in a matter of time because that is what I did over and over again! I had researched WLS in the past, but never went thru with it. I didn't like the idea of having my guts re-routed and the band was weird for me, but that was the only other option that I knew. I emailed my dr. and asked if I could do it! He referred me instantly and her I am 104lbs thinner, healthier and happier! I love my sleeve! Kelly

1st trip to Costco ... what should i get?

Yeah, those Costco shakes make me sick too. I hated them after surgery and could not drink them GAG GAG GAG!!! As far as freezing the babybell cheese. You really do not need to do that. Cheese is good for long periods of time in the fridge and IS mold, so you don't need to freeze it. Besides, it is wrapped in wax and shouldn't get air exposure. They should stay good for months. I have a collar bone?!

How exciting!! It doesn't take long for it to really stick out either after you first notice it! CONGRATS!! Kelly :D
  12. i am a little over 4 months out and there is NO WAY i could eat 350 calories at one time!! i try to eat 800-1000 calories a day and have to in order to lose weight. when i get less than that, i stall. I have to eat 5-6 small meals a day. i call it snacking. I am not supposed to do this, but i have to in order to get my calories in. it works for me and it is what i have to do. i follow the protein first rule and can only eat 2oz at a time. when i can only eat such a small amount of meat, that doesn't add up to many calories. i am not going to eat crap just to fill the void. sometimes, if i am low on calories for the day, i will have nuts to up my calories, but mostly i just eat 5-6 times a day. Problem? 6 months tomorrow

    Call your Dr. Kelly
  17. I have heard that is the first thing that makes you gain is drinking with meals. If you drink, you are able to eat more and therefore you should not do it. NOBODY was a bigger drinker with their meals than I was!!! I could easily drink 3-4 glasses of tea with each meal. I started practicing about 2 months before surgery and when I had my surgery, I was prepared. I missed it at first. Now, I am 4 months out and NEVER think about drinking when eating. I still only eat about 2 oz of food at a time so maybe that is why, but the only time I think about it is afterwards to see what time I can drink. I think it just becomes a habit and we have to break it. If drinking with meals is the number one reason for weight gain with the sleeve, I WILL NEVER drink and eat together again!!! Kelly
  18. Wow!! That is intense. I would do a liquid diet anyway just to be sure I had a good cushion. Maybe the last 2 days before your surgery do slim fast or something! Good luck! kelly
  19. I eat wendy's chili all of the time. i think as long as you drink your water to flush all that salt out you will be fine! Kelly

    One Year Anniverary

WOW!! Hats off to you. You look great. Congrats! Kelly
  22. I exercised A LOT pre-op, so after my surgery I was ready to go! The first week I only walked my neighborhood because I was so sore and tired. After that first week, I was doing my 1 1/2 -2 miles again. I worked up to my 5 mile walks/jogs I do now at 4 months out. Do what you can, but don't over exert yourself. Work up to getting more in as you feel comfortable with doing more. Everyone is different and advances differently! Kelly
  23. I believe in fate too and there is a reason why you did not have your surgery today. You will know in time why it didn't happen, but stay positive and you will have it before you know it! Kelly

    Lightheaded and Dizzy

Thanks Lynda! That is what I was told it was called back in my visit a few months ago, but I couldn't remember the name of it. I feel better knowing that I am o.k. and that hopefully it will go away soon! That is scary stuff!! Kelly
  25. Ever since surgery, May 9th, I experience lightheadness when I standup. I have been told this is normal and not to worry. I usually just stand still until the feeling passes and then carry on with what I am doing. I feel it the most when I get up in the morning and when I get up too fast. My dr. has a name for it, but I don't remember. Well, today, just about 20 minutes ago, I got up off the couch from a sitting position to go get my Calcet chew off the bar. I felt that way when I got half way there and kinda shut my eyes and woke up on the floor to my husband asking me what was going on!?!?!?! I passed out I guess and hit my head really hard and now I have a headache!! I have never passed out before from this and it was scary!! Should I be worried??? Thanks! Kelly
