  1. You will be fine and will be so happy you did this, I sure am! I had diabetes and hbp and within a week did not have to take meds for either after my surgery.!!! I have more energy than I have had since I was 10 and I feel on top of the world. The worst part for me was the gas post-op. I really didn't have pain, just gas. It lasted about 3-4 days and then I was fine. I have had no issues with food, vomiting or nausea. I was sleeved May 9th of this year and have lost 50lbs since then. I lost 55lbs pre op, bringing my total weight loss to 105lbs. After your surgery, just make sure to stay hydrated. Focus on that for the fist couple weeks. That is more important that anything!!! You don't want to get dehydrated. That will just bring you more problems than anything, so SIP SIP SIP!! Come here and read and read. This is the best place for advice and support. Good luck to you! Kelly
  2. MMMM...I never thought about the gravy! YUMMY! Kelly
  3. I love chicken livers and KFC's are the best. They don't have them here in Cali, but I am from the midwest and used to eat them all the time!! I would think that they would be really dry and since we can't drink while eating, that might be a problem! Kelly
  4. Save your money!! There isn't a thing that will stop the hair loss. It will stop when your weight loss does. Kelly

    Was not going to post

I am so sorry. Hoping the best for you! My dr. told me that he has had thousands of patients have underlying things be found wrong that would have never been diagnosed until it was too late by having the sleeve done. Usually pre-op testing. The sleeve is a GREAT thing! Hugs, Kelly
  6. That was the worst part for me was the gas pain. I had no other pain, but the gas. THAT IS NO JOKE!!! Nothing really helped me, but time. I think it was like day 4 or 5 when it broke lose! Then I had diahrreah for a week! I was happy tho. It made me feel so much better to get that pressure off my stomach. I hope you feel better. I know it will get better. Hang in there! Kelly

    Large bone structure?

Well, everyone is different, but I will tell you this. I am 5ft 8in. and I weigh 175lb. I wear a size 8 pants and I don't look sick. I am tall and bigger boned too. I carry my weight well and always have. Even at 280lbs, people did not believe that I weighed that much. I could easily lose another 25lbs and be fine, but my goal is another 10lbs. I will see how I look when I get to that point. I don't want to be a size 4 so I have to put the breaks on. Another 10lbs puts me on the high end of the healthy BMI chart. You will know what is a good size/weight for you when you get there. As long as you don't have image issues and think that you are a size 28 when you are a 10 you will be fine. You will know! Good luck! Kelly
  8. I know right???!!! That is the stupid ass comments I don't and didn't want to hear. People are really ignorant if they think for one second that this is easy! This is harder than any diet I have ever done! I have to work twice as hard to lose weight than I have ever done in my life. It is so strange. But at the same time, it is so worth it.!! I don't think my mom would be judgement towards me like that and with her living in another state, I really don't have to deal with it right now. I will in November tho when I go home for a visit! She has no idea that I have lost all this weight and I will definatley have some explaining to do! LOL Kelly

I Don't Know What to Eat?

I agree with not eating nuts and seeds. I was allowed pretty much anything at week 7 except nuts, seeds, beans, fruit with skin and raw veggies. It was all fair game at week 12 tho. Kelly

SURGERY ON 09/02-I HAVE NO PROBLEMS?

I was also able to drink alot and have had no issues eating. I am a little over 4 months out now and have NEVER been sick or anything. The only problem I did have was when I first went to soft foods, they sat really heavy in my chest and throat for a while. I had to thin them alot and only eat a few bites. I got full really fast. My dr. said I was still swollen and it would go away. It did and now I can eat anything without issue! Kelly

    I NEED YOUR ADVICE!!!

If he likes you, he will like you for what you are and not what you look like! I personally have not told a sole (except hubby about mine) but I think I would if I were you. That way, if he is only interested in you for your looks, then you won't get hurt when you are skinny! LOL Kelly

    1 year Aniiversary

Wow! You look great and so much younger! I wish I didn't have to work so hard for the lbs to come off....lucky you. Kelly
  15. I am a little over 4 months out and am having my first stall. I am 10lbs from goal and it is soooo upsetting to do everything so right and not have that damn scale MOVE!! Hopefully, when the stall ends the 10lbs will magically disappear! Wishfull thinking! Kelly
  16. I am a little over 4 months post-op and still have not told a sole, but my husband! FOR THIS EXACT REASON!! I didn't want to hear negative, ignorant rants about what I should or shouldn't do. I knew what I needed to do and I did it. I am an adult and made an adult decision with a medical professional who was HIGHLY capable. I am very glad that I did it and glad that I chose not to say a word to anyone about it. I may tell my mom one day, but for now, I am not! Kelly

    8 month post op

That is amazing!! So happy for you. Kelly
  18. May I ask how on earth you ate 15 Oreo's?????? OMGoodness!! That is something I could have done pre-sleeve, but not now. I couldn't hold 5. Man, you must have felt crappy. Kelly
  19. These are what I take: B12-Natures Bounty sublingual Calcium Citrate- Bariatric Advantage chewy bites I have the lemon, chocolate and caramel. I also have the Calcet bites lemon and chocolate and Citracal + D. I like variety!! Multi-Centrum I buy the Walmart brand-same ingredients and ALOT cheaper. Until I was able to swallow BIG pills at 4 weeks, I did the Bariatric Advantage Orange chewable multi. Iron- Bariatric Advantage Chocolate Raspberry Truffel chews and Ferrous Gluconate supplements from my dr. (I am anemic and have to take more!!) Hope this helps! Kelly
  20. I became SEVERLY anemic after surgery and felt sooo much better about week 2 when I told my PCP and got on strong iron supplements. As far as the eating, I was able to eat more about week 3-4 when i got off full liquids. You really can not get a lot of nutrients being on those liquids. Believe us when we say It will get better!! Kelly
  21. They usually will deny what they bill because the dr's want to charge $500 for something and the inusrance only will pay $280. They have negotiated pricing on everything and will not pay above that. Insurance companies DO suck!! I work for one. However, re-submit it and send a copy of your pre-approval letter. Kelly

    sundae???

And this is EXACTLY what keeps me from eating sugary stuff now. I am afraid of doing just this! If it has more than 6g of real sugar in it, I don't touch it! KElly
  23. Just so you know, there aren't ANY drugs that you can not take with the sleeve. I take slow released drugs and do fine with them. The bypass restricts medications you can take. My dr. told me that there are NOT any pills that are restricted with the sleeve long term. Being cold sucks, but it comes and goes. Kelly
  24. In the begining, maybe the first couple of months, I used to time myself and wait a couple of minutes. I have a REAL BIG fear of getting sick from eating too fast or too much!! I eat a lot faster than I did then at 4 months out, but I still wait about 30 seconds in between bites. I measure my food and undereat my sleeve. Kelly

    Gone forever

I am allowed to have bread if it is well toasted. I have had 1/4 of a toasted orowheat thin a couple of times, but it sits really heavy on my sleeve, so I avoid it. I am 4 months out. Kelly
