    No No Food

I was told the same as we have the same dr. and hospital. ALSO coconut. I have had popcorn, but waited until after 5 months to eat it. They say the kernels can get stuck in the staple line, so make sure you are healed before you eat it. I also have had a few glasses of wine without issue. SHELL, don't tell Fisher! LOL LOL LOL Kelly
  2. I am just a week shy of 6 months and have lost 56lbs. 111lbs total with 55lbs being pre-op. I have really slowed down with the loss in the past month. I am so close to my goal and think that is why. I think it is all in how much you weigh to begin with and how hard you work at it. If you want to lose 70lbs, you will!! Best of luck to you! Kelly
  3. Me too!! I freeze to death most days. Especially at work. I have to dress like it is winter when it is 100 outside just to be comfortable. I am almost 6 months out and am finding it is NOT AS BAD as it was a couple months ago, but I still get cold ALOT!! I am not looking forward to the rainy season here in California. That always makes me cold to the bone anyway, I know I will freeze to death!! LOL Kelly
  4. What a difference! Good for you! Kelly

    Hunger

I NEVER lost my hunger sensation. I still feel hungry and guess I always will. I find that it is ALOT more managable now tho. I can wait to eat and it is not that "FEED ME NOW" type hunger I use to get pre-sleeve. I wish I didn't get hungry, but I do and I deal with it. I also gained 14lbs during surgery, but it came right off in a couple days. Yours will too! Kelly

    Is my journey over?

Rootman, I too am in the same boat as you, but REFUSE to give up. AND, I just had surgery 5 months ago!!!!!!!!! But, think my body is saying enough already! I would like to lose another 10-15lbs, but at this point, being at the same weight for over a month, I don't think it is going to happen!! I am very happy where I am, would like to lose the rest, but if I don't I am very pleased now! Applaud yourself for what you have done this far! You are a success already! I am sure it is your injury and once you are healed, you will get "back to business!" Hugs, Kelly
  8. Wearing size 7 jeans today!! WOOP WOOP!

  9. This is VERY normal. I do it quite often and yes, I have passed out. Hit my head really hard on the floor and my dr. said it was not a big deal. Just be careful getting up and to break my exercise up into shorter stints. Especially in the morning! I have found on the days that I don't eat much, it is worse. The days when I can get at least 1000 calories or more, I don't do it so badly. When you are able to get those calories in, you will get better. Mine is diminishing alot now that I can eat more. Hugs, Kelly
  10. I think having this surgery DEFINATLY stresses our bodies out!! I had my period ( I am and always have been normal), stopped 4 days before my surgery and 3 days after my surgery, I started again!! Just like I hadn't had one at all!! WEIRD. Mine was extra heavy and clotty too. I think that was a BIG reason I became anemic. I have heavy periods anyway and to have 2 in a matter of days, it was like bleeding for 14 days in a row because mine last for a week at a time! My dr. told me it could happen, so I was prepared, but it still was not fun! Kelly

  12. Looking good gurl!! good for you. Keep up the good work! Kelly
  13. I could have banana, watermelon, cantalope, and soft canned fruit in lite syrup week 4. No skins of any type until week 8. I ate my first apple at that time and it was heaven!! I did eat some grapes at week 5, but just sucked the juice out and spit the skins in the trash. LOL Kelly

    Hair Loss Finish Line?

I was sleeved May 9th, 5 months and a week ago today!! I have been losing like 10-15 hairs a morning when I wash and comb since week 3. This is not AS BAD as I figured it would be and think mine was not too bad since I have been a slow loser since surgery. Today, when I washed and combed....OMG!! I bet there were 100 hairs in my hand. It was crazy sick! I almost fainted! My w/l has slowed to a crawl and I would think the hair loss should too. Kelly
  15. I am 21 weeks out today and will tell you the denser the protein in your meal, the longer it will stay with me. Also, the longer I wait to drink after I eat, the longer I will not feel hungry. Choose the most dense protein you can find and wait as long as you can to drink after a meal. That will help with hunger! I usually can go 3-4 hours. Kelly
  16. You look AWESOME Tiffy!! How exciting that it is almost time!! Can't wait to meet Tatum!! Kelly
  17. BMI charts are fine for some, but are NOT a one size fits all approach. I picked the high end of the chart for my goal weight and thought I would start there. I can NOT imagine being on the low end of that scale. 140lbs would have me looking like a crackhead for sure. I am tall and weigh 170 now and I think I look healthy, fit and normal. I could lose another 10lbs, but that would be it!! Just pick a number and then when you get there decide for yourself if you want or need to lose more. That is what I am doing and ONLY YOU know what is good for you. If you feel you have lost enough, then stop. If you need to lose more, then set it to a lower number. Best of luck to you!! Kelly

    VSG and GERD

I had GERD for 8 years prior to surgery. My dr. explained that my reflux issues could become much more severe after surgery. He was a little cautious and made me take an UPPER GI, UPPER ENDOSCOPY and go off my PPI for a month to see how I felt prior to surgery. I must say that since surgery, as long as I don't forget to take my meds, I feel fine! NO problems at all. I actually think it might be a little better than before. Kelly
  20. I had my surgery at Kaiser Richmond and YOU CAN pick your surgery. They will suggest to you what surgery they think is best (for me it was VSG), but it is your option. If you chose something that was not right for you or would kill you, obviously they wouldn't do it, but VSG is pretty safe for all! Good luck to you !! Kelly
