Actually we all have 3 leak tests but 2 of them are under anestesia (dye and air) and 1 of them is the barium that we do just before discharge. My pain and nausea were very well managed. It does not mean there was no nausea and no pain and it is impossible. It means I was promptly attended when i had any nausea or pain and also that medication was given continuously to prevent both. You still have nausea when waking up from surgery and a fee times during the hours after it. It is normal and expected. You still feel some pain when you move which is also expected and cannot be totally eliminated. The discomfort from the drain only goes away after the drain is removed. The feeling is odd as if everything was too full and too tight inside (which is the case). You should not have other kind of pain and if you have they will give you meds. They did not use narcotics which is a very good thing and will help you stay awake to walk and sip and recover faster. Hope it helped.

I am 7 weeks out and still cannot get that amount of food at once. 1 egg makes me full. 3 ounces of soft fish with nothing else. I need to eat every 3 hrs though...

Actually one of the best things after surgery was the feeling of eating and not feeling guilty after that. I no longer beat myself after eating. I have had chocolates, ice cream, etc and feel good after because the amount is so little that it is not enough to cause harm or make me feel guilty. You will soon be able to have whatever you love without making you feel bad, believe me.

I am sure both doctors are excellent. you will. Have excellent care with any of the two doctors. I went by myself to Dr. Kelly. 2 days in a full hospital in private room, 2 days in a nice hotel. 3 leak tests , 2 during surgery and the barium test. Hospital close to the border in a quiet area, transportation, excellent team of English speaking professionals, etc. I am very happy with the complete experience. $ 5300

How about those barefoot shoes? They protect your soles while giving you the same feeling of being barefoot. Lots of research done on those and they seem to be excellent.

Therea are medications that can up your milk supply considerably. I took motilium and in 3 days I had more milk than ever. I would pump 200 ml in just a few minutes and still have more. Talk to your doctor about it.

I had coffee since week 2 without any problems. Just the amount is less but my coffe is very strong and it has caused no problem whatsoever.

You are in great hands. He is very experienced, competent and caring as all the other professionals working with him. My experience with them was excellent! Try to get in touch with people who will be there around the same time. It is really nice to meet them in person there and have the mutual support.

Crushed ice, Popsicles, broth...these helped a lot.

Two drops of liquid stevia and it is good to go.

Hi Vickie I am sorry to hear you are having a hard time. I tell you the B12 liquid sublingual or injectable will make you feel more energetic. I increased my carbs a bit and it slowed the weight loss but helped with the energy, especially in the middle of the afternoon when I was at my worst. I also miss the large meals...and feel frustrated at times as the weight loss is been sooooo minimal these past 2 weeks... But I am very happy as I know I would not be able to maintain the lost weight if not due to the sleeve.

Sometimes I forget too... Yesterday I had chicken breast and in the end I poured a full glass of water down. It was sooooo painful. I could not put it out no matter how much I tried... for about an hour I was in great pain and afraid I was going to pop my stomach open.

The second week is better as you can add lots of other liquids. Smoothies, soups, yogurt, juices, etc. By day 11 I started to add some cottage cheese, laughing cow cheese, some blended food. It was fine. Soon you will be over the hard phase and enjoying your new slimer body.

It is not about age but about BMI and the failed attempts to loose and keep it off. 40 is a high BMI and it for sure is impacting on your ability to enjoy a lot of things in your life. You will be able to get into sports and enjoy a lot of social activities that do not have to be directly related to eating a lot or drinking a lot. My thin friends from my youth would eat less than what a sleeved person eats. You just need to talk to yourself and really ake sure you are prepared for the limitations in the amount of food and drinking (including alcohol). I am sure you will be so happy with your new healthy body that you will find a lot of other social activities that do not impact on your sleeve. Good luck. I have started solids and so far it is going well. However, for the past 2 days I feel a strong pressure in my stomach and feel very full after half the amount I was having a few days before. I was able to eat 4 onces of blended food but now I feel too full after half of it. I was able to have a full egg and now I feel the pressure and discomfort after half of it. Did any one experienced the same? I am wondering if i have undigested food taking room in my stomach . I guess the stomach will not get smaller, right?

Thanks for the answers. I decided to give it a try and too a laxative and 2 gasex. It worked wonders. I had no idea that gas and constipation could make you feel like that. Thanks

My hubby, who was not supportive of the surgery, has been a sweetheart. He just got me an ipad 2 as a gift for my first 25lbs. I am loving it all, the attention, the weight loss and the ipad 2 of course!!

I started one week post op. First I made it very light just to feel how it would go. Now I have my daily strong coffee in the morning with no issues. It is a very small amount, not the large Tim Hortons/Starbuck coffees. Saving money on this too

I have an office work and went back after 2 weeks but I was always tired. I had to go to bed as soon. I got home and I waddling almost nothing at home. I am more energetic now but still tire more easily. Maybe it was too soon for you as the job seems active and tiring. Perhaps you can work a few hours less for a while or just skip most of the house chores for a few weeks until you are feeling better. I hope you feel bettter soon.
