  1. How many appeals am I allowed to have?

You would need to ask your insurance company how many appeals they offer but I'm aware they often they want the info within a specific time framelike as an example 10 days - to add to current request but as an example- 30 days with an appeal. Every insurance company is different those examples are for mine insurance company.

Stay strong and focused even if it takes a bit of time. Keep us updated. Hope all goes well.

  2. I am 2 weeks post op right now and yesterday I had a few pieces of white chicken (very well chewed) and some mashed potatoes. I ate a bite every few min but i really wasnt getting full. Is that normal? Was anyone else able to eat pureed foods this early out? My stomach handled it pretty well although i should still be on full liquids for another 8 days.

Aren't you a bit worried about eating things you "shouldn't" be eating?

  3. I guess I'm feeling a little fuzzy this morning. I want to take a shower and wash my hair

and I remember my doctor said I could do that - he said tomorrow..when you take a shower..

as I was being discharged.. I'm trying to remember what he said about this dressing over my

drain incision. I think he said to take it off- and to be honest it's coming off already on one side

and I can see that some drainage has taken place but- I can't remember if he said to redress it-

or just leave it off exposed to air.

Anyone have suggestions- if I can't recall or find his instructions with my paper work- I will call much later

    this morning-

  4. I came home from the hospital earlier today.

I feel pretty good- no complaints to speak of except that I feel so full it's hard to get my fluids in-

I did notice this evening that my lower abdomen seems swollen - more than it was when I got home-

that's probably pretty normal considering we had surgery but I was wondering if anyone else noticed it

when they got home? My incisions all look good from what I can see under the steri strips.

  5. Well, everyone's pre op requirements are different. My surgeon has me doing a low fat, low carb,

low Protein liquid diet for an entire week before surgery of which today is day 4 for me.

Below is a list of items I can eat

Broth- Low fat and Low sodium

Decaf coffee or Tea with no sugar may sweeten with sweet & Low, equal, splenda, stevia etc.

    sugar free Jello

    sugar free Popsicle

    Water

    Crystal Light

    Propel

And a shake or yogurt or Soup with additional Protein added to meet daily requirment of 20 grams-

If using yogurt then I must use the low fat, no sugar added such as carbmaster from Kroger.

The yogurts and shakes are not free foods in which I can just eat until I'm full either-

tho I have yet to see an exact limit- I'm guessing it's 1 or 2 per day until the protein requirement

has been met for the day.

I was scared to death that I wouldn't like the protein- especially Isopure made me ill when I tried it months

ago- but I was pleasantly surprised that my unjury vanilla powder tastes great in yogurt.

I'm sure there are many different pre op diet plans - so it would be interesting to see what other people

are doing- and it's really best to do what your specific surgeons directs - because each is different.

  6. Course on Day 4 broth and tea have grown real old- I'm hungry, tired, lethargic, sometimes confused and lightheaded- especially If I'm outside getting overheated

carbmaster yogurt has been a good addition and my Unjury Protein vanilla flavor tastes exceptionally good mixed into that- and today I splurged and got egg drop Soup and put it through a strainer- it did wonders for my hunger and the moral booster was much needed -because it's getting really tough.
