    Surgery Scheduled!

Congrats on getting your date! I dealt with nervousness and worry by preparing as best I could- that gave me a bit of feeling of control over the situation. I read lots of surgery stories, articles and medical information about my surgery with out causing myself to worry more- and I did some things to make life easier while I was gone and upon return home like - caught up on housework and made sure the kitchen was organized with all of my post op stuff- made arrangements for the kids and prayed that God would see me through the actual surgery- I made some friends here while I was stalking all the pre and post op posts- that helped a lot- and Everything went very well - I'm recovering nicely at 13 days post op and YOU WILL TOO!
  2. What a fantastic year it has been for you! Way to Go!!
  3. I add some unjury chicken soup flavored protein to my egg drop soup- And sometimes vanilla to my yogurt.
  4. Awesome - Glad you are doing well and able to move on to the next stage!
  5. Yeah- I love reading your posts- so down to earth and honest- I appreciate it- especially your sense of humour. Can't wait till you have the baby and share pics with us- No worries- you will be wearing your cute sexy clothes before you know it :preggers:

    Early September Spitfires

My surgery was the 8th and I'm down 16 lbs combined total of the 1 pre op and after surgery weight. So that's 16 lbs down since September 1st. Doing pretty good on eating- trying to get my fluids and protein shakes down but the protein powder is more difficult post surgery for me it seems. I have a lot of heart burn too and my doctor called me in a prescription for something - so hoping that will help some. Incisions all look good- took the last remaining steri strips off this morning- I'm impressed with how small they are. Glad everyone else is doing good.

  10. Prayers for you- and keep us posted on what happens next- God bless you
  11. Hi Deb from Mass. Congrats on your surgery! Hope you get to feeling better soon and some things that might be helpful for you to check while you are adjusting and healing are your Fluid and Protein intake. Lack of those can make you feel nauseous, and weak. I know it's hard early out to get the fluids in while recovery from major surgery in addition- Also check to see if you are on an acid reducer. Hope those ideas help a bit- and there are many people here my senior on vsg who might offer more helpful ideas to check on.

    Surgery on Tuesday!!!

    Best wishes on your surgery!
  14. Are you taking an acid reducer? Some people have mentioned feeling hunger when they are in need of an acid reducer. My doctor has me on prilosec but I can take prevacid as an alternative option. both are available over the counter. Might want to ask your doctor if you aren't on one if that might be the cause.

    APPROVED!!!! (Finally)

Hey Congrats! Fantastic News for the weekend eh?
  16. I'm only 15 lbs down and I put my shoes on for the first time since surgery and they are so loose they fall off. Weird. I had been wearing my summer flip flops but today we have a cold front that has moved in.

  17. Made my first batch of crab bites from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com's site- And they ARE delish! YUM!

    When will i notice?

I had surgery 1 week ago today. I'm down 15 lbs since the pre op diet.
  19. I'm on day 6 post op and today has been my best day - I haven't used any gas x strips today. I do have to take the pepcid 2 x a day - it helps.
  20. I'm just across the Water from you in Virginia Beach- I had my surgery last week- I'm doing pretty good- post op- Good Luck tomorrow and will be waiting to hear updates on how you are after surgery.
  21. You can do it! Don't give up.
  22. Nysha- My pre-op diet consisted of SF jello, SF Popsicles, Carbmaster Yogurt from Kroger not to exceed 2 per day and avoiding bits and pieces of fruit within the yogurt, Lowfat, Low sodium Broth, Water, SF pudding- and protein shakes not to exceed 20 grams of protein on the pre-op. With 64 or more fluids total per day. Each Doctor seems to have their own Pre-op requirements so you must follow what your surgeons are. At my pre-op class we were told that if anyone gained weight from their first visit to the group- that their surgery would be cancelled because it showed lack of dedication needed to proceed with surgery. I'm not sure what your groups guidelines are but you might want to check it out.

    Wine and pre op

You'd have to look up the carb content but yes it will hinder your pre op diet- so will the vicodin. You are trying to shrink your liver before surgery to reduce risk of injury to it- and both alcohol and vicodin are not conducive to shrinking the liver by any means. You really would be endangering yourself to not go off both of those before surgery.
  24. What does your pre op diet entail?
  25. You can order it from their website http://www.unjury.com/
