Thank You for explaining how safe the injections are!!!!! I had visions of a 12 inch needle.... LOL.
  8. Hi sweetie. My best advice is right now focus on YOU. Get your mindset on the surgery. In a few months after surgery you'll probably have to beat off with a stick..... LOL.

    Shape-Ups by Skechers

I've seen the commericals and the ads in magazines for the shoes called Shape-ups by Skechers. The ad states they are designed to help burn more calories, tone muscles, and improve posture.... etc. Sounds to good to be true to me. My question is has any one bought them and do they do what they are suppose to do? In my opinion they are some ugly ass shoes....... but I'm willing to purchase them if they do what they are advertised to do. Holla back. Deb
  11. Hi Robbie. How are you? I hope good. I have a little update. Girl.....I went to my pre op class on Thursday. It was cool for the most part, then we were reading about blood clots and u know the coordinator starts talking to us about how we are to give ourselves 7 injections of a blood thinner. My question is did u have to do that too? Was it scary or did someone else do it for you? I was completely unprepared for that one. Holla back soon or when you can. Have a good day.

  12. Oh.....I'm excited for you. I will be praying and thinking about you tomorrow. Here's hoping for a smooth operation and a quick recovery. Deb

    Kinda bummed!!!!

I guess you misunderstand my concern. Let me clarify it. The doctors, the hospital, the anyone can give me a hundred injections. I don't care... even if it hurts like HELL or caused bruising . MY CONCERN IS...... AS A LAYMAN I'M EXPECTED TO GIVE MYSELF AN INJECTION. I also stated I would do what I needed to do, which meant giving myself the injections. But, my daughter who happens to be a Physical Therapist said she would do it for her mommy.

  17. Hey Renee, how are you? Good I hope. So you have an appointment with Dr. Hoehn..... huh? Good for you!!! My first impression of him was he's very nice. He answered all of my questions without hesitation. The day I went... man there must have been 15 people waiting for him. I think he must be very much in demand. I went to my pre-op class on Thursday and that was a trip towards the end of class. I wrote a post about it if you care to read it. Please keep my updated on your progress. I hope all goes well. Ttyl.

  19. Hi Amy. My two week pre-op diet is pretty extreme. It is a clear liquid, low sugar diet which consists of unlimited sugar free Jello , popsicles, and broth. Of course Water, crystal lite and decaf tea. Low carb Protein drinks- make sure you are getting 60 grams of protein/ per day. Also I can have 2 sugar free fudgsicles, 1 cup of skim milk, and 8 ounces of low carb yogurt. ATTENTION DIABETICS: They recommend consuming 15 grams of carbs every 2 hours. Be sure to monitor your blood sugars and contact your doctor as necessary. beverages with 15 grams of carbs include: 1 regular popsicle, 1 cup of skim milk, 6 ounces lite yogurt, 1/3 cup of regular jello also 1/2 cup of orange, apple or grapefruit juice. When I received my pre-op diet from my doc. I thought let's check it out, let's see how hard it is. It hasn't been to bad so far. Note: I'm doing this on my own, I don't have a surgery date yet. So I will not be doing this for the full two weeks. I've been doing the pre-op diet since Monday and have lost 15 pounds so far, but I have a lot to loose. People at work are starting to notice , which I love. I hope this helpful. Deb

    Kinda bummed!!!!

The only risk factor is I have is high blood pressure. As far as consulting another surgeon, this Dr. comes highly recommended plus his center is a "Center of Excellence". It takes months to get in and see him. There's not many doctors who perform the sleeve in my area. Plus he's very understanding and I feel comfortable with him. So... I will do what I have to do.:thumbup1:

    Shape-Ups by Skechers

I'm glad you ordered a pair. Yes,please share with us what you think of them. What color did you order? Thanks. Deb
  25. Hi. I read a thread of yours that said you can sleep on your tummy after about 11 days. I too am a tummy sleeper. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I think sleeping on my side may be a issue because of my habit of sleeping on my tummy. I might accidentally roll back on my tummy. I've been trying to practice, but each time I do I end back on my tummy. Any suggestions? Thanks.
