    where are the heavyweights?

Heavyweight from Kansas here. I need to lose approximately 140 pounds. Right now I am on my pre-op diet and have lost about 15 pounds in 8 days. I realize most of this weight is Water weight, but I am still very excited. I have 6 more days of pre-op. I am 5'5 and I would like to weigh about 140. I want a little bit of meat on the bones and that's why I went with a higher weight. Deb
  2. Best wishes for a smooth operation and a speedy recovery. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. Deb

    ketosis sticks....

You read my mind. LOL. I was just at Walgreens looking for the sticks. I'm on my pre-op diet and losing weight like crazy, so I was wondering if I was in Ketosis. That's were I have bought them before when I was on Slim 4 Life. At my Walgreens they didn't have them, but there's a Walgreens on every street corner here so it shouldn't be hard to find someone who has them. Good luck. Deb
  5. Girl.......I'm hungry!!!!:mad0: Again I am losing a bunch of weight, but I am wanting a Spam sandwich. LOL. I'm alright tho.

I go to Dr. H. tomorrow to review my labwork and to go over my EKG and I guess my chest X-ray. I do have a couple of questions for him as well. I'll keep you updated.

    Question on the unflavored proteins

I'm on my pre-op diet which started this past Tuesday. I bought a canister of unflavored protein from GNC and so far I like it alot. I put it in my yogurt ( 2 scoops )and in my crystal lite drinks. I can't tell the difference. Good luck. Deb

  20. Thanks so much for sending me a message. I means a lot to me.

Well let's just say the pre-op diet is pretty rough to me, but I know it's for the best in the long run and I will stay the course. I am taking my potassium faithly, because I DO NOT WANT TO GO THE THE HOSPITAL AND BE TOLD MY LEVELS ARE STILL TO LOW AND THEY CANCEL. That would be totally devastating to me.

Best wishes to you sweetie. Please keep me posted with your progress.

    Ttyl.

Good luck and best wishes. Deb
  24. Today I went to the hospital for my lab workup, chest x-ray, and EKG. That was 7:30 this morning. I just received a call from my surgeon's office and the nurse stated my potassium levels are to low and they might have to cancel my surgery if I can not bring them up. They are calling in a script as I am writing this. I NEED to start taking this medication immediately. I have waited and waited for this and now......:sad0: My emotions have been up and down lately and this seems like a crushing blow to me.... I feel like crying. My level is at 3.3 and they want at least 3.6. My surgery is in two weeks. The nurse said they will take lab work again the day of surgery. If still to low, they will have to cancel. Peeps I need some words of encouragement. Thanks for listening. Deb
  25. Hey pcindy, I see we both have the same surgery date. I'm ready and I'm sure you are too.

I've been on my liquid pre-op diet for about 4 days now and feel pretty good. What about you?

I saw you post on a thread I started in which I talk about my surgery possibly being cancelled due my low potassium levels.

A little background: I have high blood pressure and for this condition I take Lisinopril 40 mg/ twice a day. I also take Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg/ once a day. The staff at my surgeon's office believes the Hydrochlorothoazide is what caused my potassium levels to go low.

I see the surgeon again on the 11th. In your professional opinion should I ask for my levels to be checked then and not the day of surgery? I know the answer, but you seem very knowledgeable so I respect you opinion.

Please get back with me as soon as you can.

    Thanks in advance

    Deb
