  1. you know, i had a bit of a rough go of it for a few weeks post-op. my anatomy felt all wrong and the plumbing was not working right. hell, i couldn't eat right until 3.5 months out. my major breakdown came when i was making food for my husband and kids and knew i couldn't eat what i was making... i cried. now i'm over it. the thing that happened was time, learning and acceptance. i'm so very happy i had the surgery and my suspicion is as you learn how to use it you will be, too!

For the first time in my life I bought a size 10 today. Two weeks ago I bought a size Medium shirt. I cannot say how shocked I am. My goal was size Large and Size 12, you know the "you can buy it at any store" size...!

    i'm going to fail....

I think when you look at how much you have to lose it is daunting and feels like you'll never get there. Break it down into smaller increments and it'll feel achievable. When I am feeling ill it is always a bit bleaker than when I'm feeling in control of my health. Good luck and hang in there, you're still learning the ropes!

My story and lots of questions

Plannergirl... I didn't broadcast my details, but I didn't keep it a secret. I told my neighbors because I need help with my kids and activities. I just answered questions and haven't met much in the way of negativity. I wish you well and know you'll figure out the right thing to say or not say.

How to tell my PCP after the fact

My husband is a doc and I think a lot of people treat them with a sort of mystique. They're just detectives for the body and you're all right, you employ them! I have a ton of respect for my husband, he's a good doc by all accounts I've heard, but personally I don't like my PCM. She has a bee in her bonnet that I had the surgery at all. Once I'm back from vacation she's getting fired. Well, I'm just going to ask for a new PCM, I'll be nice.

How much could you eat and when?

I'm nearly 4 months out and my amounts are still fairly limited, however I've recently noticed a change. I can eat more and am not as uncomfy after I do eat. This was a huge problem for me since surgery. I look at it as an experiment each day... "what can I eat today?" I still experience hunger, still have to make the right choice on what to put into my mouth, and just came off my first stall. Specific amounts: steak 2 oz, pudding/yogurt 4 oz, 1/2 sandwich crusts trimmed with miracle whip and cheese, 3 oz fish
  16. Hey Jennifer... hoping you are feeling well. I think there is variety in the post-op plans for lots of reasons, not just to drive us crazy! Once a surgeon has a great record of no leaks, I gather they go with what has been working. My surgeons took a more conservative route and I was on a very slowly progressing diet. They've had good success and the complications are minimal so they stick with this post-op plan. Hope the recovery goes well!
  17. congrats and hope you're feeling well! the first days go so quickly!

    Advice needed- Regaining weight

I've been in a stall and I think logging my food has really helped. Or taking pictures with my phone of everything I put in my mouth. After doing that, I was shocked when I reviewed the log/pics. Good luck...
  20. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!
