My husband bought me a old fashioned schwinn in pink and white with that great seat and I love it, he has one to and it's so fun. I had to edit this to say his bike isn't pink and white. lol

Ahhh i'm going to my 1st fill!!!

Had my 1st today too, 2cc in a 10cc band. Can't really tell till I eat real food again. On liquids today, mushies for the rest of the week. Don't have that funnel feeling like right after surgery, but then maybe I am used to it now.

One of my students said to me today, wow you've lost alot of weight haven't you? "I said to her well thanks you are the first to notice." She grinned at me and said "You look good" That really made my day as I haven't told any of the students at work.

    2nd Fill

I am in bandster hell......first fill June 6th. Ugg....I lost 10 pounds in the first 2 weeks of surgery and now nothing. I know that is alot and the body is trying to adjust, but dang I am watching everything I eat like a hawk. I am walking 45 mins a day, keeping the calories at 900 to 1100. That scale better move on Wed. or out the window it goes. LOL Like you Woodslass I am shooting for 10 pounds a month because it is doable. But no matter what I lose as long as it's less than the month before I will be ahead.

  10. Why don't you just ask him whats wrong, tell him you need to talk to him about something important. TELL HIM you will feel better no matter what the outcome. I would think keeping something like this from a spouse would be impossible!! Maybe he picked up on your nervousness in trying to keep this from him.

band discomfort 5 days post op

I know for me the better I felt the more I did and then would be sore. My port is very tender and I protect it as much as I can. I would think with an infection you would be swollen and really red in the area. Mine is right in the center under my bra line so I keep it covered with something soft and padded unless I am sleeping. It will be 3 weeks this Wed. and am feeling really good. But I am also pretty much back to normal food. Nothing raw yet, or nuts, or whole grains. Oh and no citrus fruits or any fruit with skin. Mr Doctors office sells the best protein shakes so I have one every morning and then 2 small meals. First 2 weeks I had no appetite, that is returning so I have to be careful till the first fill on June 9th.

    Port Location

Where is everyones ports located? Mine is in the middle of my tummy right under the center of my bra. I thought it would be by my belly button. Anxious to go for my first fill and find out why he locates them there. It also is my largest incision so I wonder if that is where the band went in too!!! I should have asked when I had the staples out, but I was so glad to get them out I just asked where the port was but not why?

    Exercise

12 days out and today is the first time I have actually been hungry. First day I have gotten all my protein in without a shake. But kinda missed it so think I will have one for breakfast. Walking about 2 miles a day. Getting in all the water has been easy, thank heavens!!!
  14. I am one week and 4 days banded and had 2 days pre op. I have not been hungry at all since being banded. I have to make myself eat to get the protein. It's a good thing I like my protein shakes otherwise I wouldn't get it all in. Still sore but getting better everyday.

    I'm 51 -- too old?

I am 55 and been banded a week and 4 days. I weighed this morning and am down 20 pounds. I am one of the lucky ones that from the first day of the band I haven't been hungry and have to make myself eat. I am already eating regular food just not very much of it. Still a few pains here and there but otherwise feel great.

    It's a Bad Story

I agree with you completely, when I went in to have the staples removed my PA warned me to be careful of what I read and don't let things get to me. I have been eating regular foods but have no real appetite yet. Although he told me it would come back. Went back to work today, hard day glad to be home. Sore as can be. Pain meds and bed for me.

Questions for anyone at any stage out

Day seven for me and I am ready to go back to work. Tomorrow's the day! Have had no issues other than the soreness. Once I could sleep on my side I felt 100 % better. Walking 2 miles a day and plan to work up to 4 by 4th week. No hunger till today, I need to increase the amount I eat at each meal. I have been careful not to fill up and feel uncomfortable. Surgery went so much smoother than I expected. I am going to credit that to my surgeon and staff at hospital. They were awesome, I was home by 6 that evening. Only had 2 days of the pre liquid diet so that was easy.

    Bandster Hell anyone?

I have been mixing my protein (usually chicken) with a tablespoon or so of beans. It's been 1 week today for me. Thought I would try an soft egg this morning but that didn't set very well with the tummy. Start my Vitamins today, have done really well and felt great till the eggs this morn. Going to stay away from that for awhile.
  19. My husband wanted to take the rv and go camping 3 days after surgery and I prayed for rain. We have had a really gloomy and wet week in the midwest....thank heavens!!!
  20. I was down 11 pounds on surgery day and go to have the staples out tomorrow. So we will see, I refuse to weigh myself more than once every 2 weeks. I was banded on the 20th and Wed. it will be a week. I am still so sore and swollen and a lot of shoulder pain. Not hungry at all but have been making myself drink the Protein shakes. Very rainy here so have been going to walmart to walk. lol Don't go to work till Thursday so have a few more days to feel better. Has anyone else had trouble sleeping? I cannot sleep on my back so anywhere from 2 to 4 am I am wide awake. I can finally get out of bed on my own. Usually finish sleeping in my comfy chair. Haven't had any trouble in the bathroom thank heaven.

    Banded yesterday 4/21/11

I woke up today on day 4 with a huge pain in my left side. During the night my body must have said the heck with this laying on my back and I woke up on my left side. If I am sitting or laying down it's fine but when I walk a round is when it really hurts. I go in for my one week check on Tuesday I will see if this is normal.
  22. I am 3 days post op and haven't had a bm yet. Was told if in 3 days and it hasn't happened to take 1 oz. Milk of Magnesia which I did and still nothing. But I also don't have the urge yet so does this seem normal? I have been walking and have been getting in all my fluids. Other than being sore on my tummy I have been doing great. Not a very good back sleeper so have been up around 3:00 am each morning. Ended up getting the rest of my sleep sitting in a chair. Anyone else having this problem?
  23. Ok I am so glad, this experience has been no fuss so far. Even the liquids haven't been bad but am looking forward to full liquids tomorrow.
  24. I am day 2 post op. Everything has gone a lot smoother than I expected. I am sore, but not in the least hungry. Have had no problem with keeping fluids down. I have had 2 Protein shakes a day and they have gone down great, too! 2 more days on Clear liquids. Then onto full liquids for 3 days, day 7 I go to mushies. Looking forward on getting to chew something. You will do great.
