  1. you will be fine. you are just ready for a fill. i too was ready and was eating somewhat normal and yes it did scare me, but i knew that my fill would be coming soon i was fine. i had mine done almost 3 and 1/2 months ago and have lost 31 pounds. just try not to over do it on eating. when you get your fill, you will be on liquids again for a day or two then mushies, then solids.

  2. make sure you get your Proteins in first, then veggies and fruits after. i eat about a cup to a cup and a half with each meal, eat 3 times a day. i stay full for 5 to 6 hours at a time with that. i am not hungry in the mornings, so i usually have a Protein Shake to get some of it in. you can buy the powder stuff and add milk, that will give you at least 20 grams of Protein. it is very important for muscles and to prevent Hair loss. congrats on the weight loss. don't loose too fast though. my doctor likes 1 to 2 lbs per week. he calls that the sweet spot. :)

  3. Oh, thank you. I am so glad that i am not the only one here. LOL! i was so embarressed. Our server came in to check on me, i am thinking i was a little loud in my vomiting. It was scary as the Water poured out of my nose, i could not catch my breath. I felt bad pushing those people out of the way, but at least i did not puke on them.

Anyways, i have been on liquids and mushies today and feel okay. i do feel a little swollen, but also started today too.

Won't do that again, that was awful!

  4. Well,

I had my first vomiting episode last night and it was awful. Went out to eat with family. I know I most likely ate too much, but for some dumb reason, I took a drink of Water and it pooled immediately in my throat and off I ran to the bathroom, pushing a couple of people out of my way in the process :), and puked up the water and some food, water came out of my nose too. felt like I could not catch my breath and then finally had it out. I felt so embarrassed about doing that in public. I went out outside to get some air. So today, I am just drinking hot liquids and staying away from food today!

  5. it has taken me a while to get used to eating slowly, used to scarfing my food down and feeling sick after. i don't want to vomit with this so i keep that in my mind the whole time i am eating. write a note and put it on the microwave if you have to.

  6. it will eventually go away. everyone is different. try a heating pad on your shoulders, that helped me. and i ate the mylanta chewables like every 4 hours. no drinking through a straw, makes the gas worse.

I am 10 days post op and the gas pains are still there. The worse ones are in my chest. The air travels from my stomach, up my esophagus and then stops. It doesn't result in a burp. The air just goes away. The pain only lasts for about 3-5 seconds, although it feels like 5 minutes. It happens several times an hour and anytime I stand up or sit up from a laying down position.

I also still get some occasional gas bubbles in my shoulder or neck. Ouch! These ones can hurt for hours. When these happen I take some of the Lortab and it helps within about 30 minutes.

I am out walking 2-4 hours every day. I heard lots of walking can help. I'm not able to jog or run yet because my port incision is still very tender. The impact of jogging makes my tummy bounce which causes me lots of pain.

I talked to the surgery center and to my doctor. They said the pain I was having is from the gas and will eventually go away. But when?

  7. call the doctor about them just to be safe.

mine were all itchy and i bruised alot. there was a little redness around them, but not horrible. if there is some oozing at the sites, then you need to call them.

don't be doing too much exercising too soon. my doctor told me not vigorious exercise for 2 weeks, but walking is fine.

i cleaned mine with soap and Water and patted them dry.

i'm day two post-op, and my wounds all look gross, of course, but my port wound is really red and itchy around it. it almost looks like a bruise. is this normal or is it getting infected?

also, does anyone know how soon after surgery i can quit worrying about getting a blood clot? i'm exercising and all that jazz, but i still worry that i'll get a clot. what's the time frame those pop up?

    anyone? anyone?

  8. oh and congrats on the fantastic weight loss :)

thank you for your response. i am going to schedule a seminar to get the info and meet the surgeon.

i have heard wonderful things about him and a friend of mine did it and has had great success.

just a nervous person about having any kind of surgery. i was like this with my gallbladder even

though i knew it had to come out, i was nervous as hell. but felt 100% better after it was done.

  9. thank you for your reply. congrats on the weight loss. a friend of mine has lost almost 100 lbs and looks great. i used to be skinny, having 2 kids back to back just can't get the weight off and my youngest is almost 4 now. LOL

keep the advice coming please. thank you.

    Hi Dear,

I got banded in December 28, 2010 and I have lost 15 kg so far. I advise u to get banded since it is not that risky. I had had the same feeling as u before I have got banded. So, I found all the answers for my questions in the internet which made everything clear for. I decided to get banded 1 week before the surgery.

Be brave and Good Luck :)

Sit down and weigh the pros and cons of having surgery. What's stopping you from having WLS? Schedule an appointment with a local bariatric surgeon and talk with him/her.

I was pretty young when I was banded and I don't regret it one bit. I've lost 112lbs, with 12 more to go. With 100lbs to lose you could definitely reach your goal! I'm not going to go on the whole the band is a tool rant/rave. Just know it does help with Portion Control and hunger, but it is not going to stop head hunger, emotional eating, or eating not so healthy foods.

    Good luck with your choice!
