  1. i think you need another fill. i did not get any restriction until my 3rd fill. i ate and ate with the 1st and 2nd, but the 3rd is where i saw a difference. every day is different for me. some days i can eat more, other days i eat very little. our bodies fluctuate daily with swelling too.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about your mom! I am a respiratory therapist and know all to well about people who have COPD and being on a vent or cpap machine. Aspiration Pneumonia is horrible in itself and can happen to anyone, with or without a band. Thank you for sharing your story and I wish you the best. Again, sorry for your loss!

  3. it sounds like you are still swollen from surgery since you are bringing stuff back up. try drinking just warm thinned broth to see if that helps. also, the gas will go away eventually. try using a heating pad on your shoulders and get some chewable mylanta tabs, they help alot with the gas.

It will get better, and you can call your surgeon too. the itching around the incisions is normal. i put some neosporin around the incisions after i showered, not on them, but around them.

The last thing I want to do is seem like I am a whiner, but I do have some legitimate concerns. Please someone tell me when does the gas pains end? Last night was so painful that I had to take the pain meds to sleep. Is there anything to move it?

Also, when I had some liquified Soup, I threw everything up. It made me wonder if what I am taking in, which is mainly liquids is being digested? I am not sure what full feels like, I just know that I am not hungry so I try not to push it. Yesterday was my day for full liquids (Day 3 after surgery), so I put some creamy soup in the blender to liquify it and was only able to take 3 spoonfuls. I was okay for about 1 hour before everything came up. The only good thing about it was that some gas moved up with it as well. The last thing is the itching around my incisions. That is one thing I haven't heard anyone mention yet, is there anything to do to relieve it? I know everyone's experience is different, I am just looking for some answers. I was so concerned about starting my weight loss journey that I overlooked the fact that this is surgery and recovery is never easy.

  4. You can have the gastic bypass redone or undone. It is not common, but can happen. I have had two friends who had one of these done. One had the bypass many years ago, she lost a ton of weight and then gained it back in 2 yrs. and recently had it redone. Another friend had it done, and decided that she wanted it undone, and guess what it is reversable, but will most likely have serious complications. It is not possible for everyone to get it reversed, does not happen that often, but it can be done for some.

  5. Wow! You have a lot going on it sounds like. I too was scared when i was told Yes you are covered to have the surgery. I freaked out, started crying and almost backed out. Then I looked at my two boys who are 4 and 5 and thought if I don't do this now, then I might not be here to watch them grow up. I want to have a healthy, long life and I decided that I had to do this for me and for my family. You are the only one who can decide what is best for you. Do this, write down the pros and cons of having the surgery and not having the surgery and go from there. Good luck! What ever you decide will be the right decision for you!

  6. It is normal. you are just ready for a fill! i did the same thing. after a couple of weeks, when i was back on solids, i was surprised at how much i could eat again. but found that it was normal and i would eat less after i had a fill and i did. i am on my 3rd fill, will have 4th this week and my appetite was cut dramatically after the fills. You are doing fine. your body is adjusting. just don't over do it and eat like you used to. :)

  7. Next time you have chipolte, get the bowl. :) the tortilla probaly caused the issue.

that being said, I am not sure you were stuck. I got stuck and I felt it in my throat. taking out just .5 cc will help a lot. listen to your surgeon and listen to your body. I have found that white bread and tortillas are a no no for me. I can eat whole wheat bread, but that is all. hope it gets better for you.

  8. Completely know how you feel. When I found out i was approved with my insurance, it became real to me that i was having it done, and i burst out crying, freaking out. My husband didn't know what to do with me, i was a mess. LOL

but i talked to a friend of mine who had it done 2 years ago and she talked me down and i was fine. It just became a reality to me! I too was wondering, how i will change my way of eating, not being able to eat certain things. Yes it sucks not being able to eat a deep dish pizza slice, but i know the consequences and would rather not vomit than try to enjoy a piece of pizza. It is just not worth it! You will learn what you can and can't have. Everyone is different. I have no problem with corn, rice or popcorn, but know people who can't eat those things. You just have to think about what you are eating every time and make good choices or they come back to get you, literally :)

  9. Everyone is different. For me, i took pain meds for 3 days, and it was over the counter, cause i am allergic to everything else :(

the recovery was much better than i thought it would be, better than when i had my gallbladder removed which only had 3 incisions. Just watch what you eat, be very diligent in foods you choose as you don't want to PB or vomit, it is not pleasant at all! i just had my first vomiting episode this weekend in public at a restaraunt and very embarressing. LOL! just chew, chew, chew you foods. stay away from white breads and follow your doctors advice and orders.

You will have to adjust your eating habits, but i didin't find this all that hard as i didn't want to do this for nothing. Seen friends who abused their band or gastic bypass and they gained it all back! I for one, will not abuse my band. It is my Tool, not a quick fix. It helps me get to where i need to be. It is one leg of a 3 legged stool, diet and exercise are the other two. It will not work if you don't do the other two.

    You will be fine!
