once you start eating foods again, things will be much better. this is bandster hell, having to eat mushy, soft foods while everyone else pigs out on whatever is hard. but think of it like this, they are eating huge quantities of food and now you won't be, therefore you will be losing weight. don't give up! you are still really new! it will get better.

i still love my band, i am one year out now, and lost 55 lbs now. do i wish it was more, of course. but i am happy with my weightloss and my decision. i personally would not want the sleeve, not in agreement with having half my stomach removed, but hey to each their own.
you are going to find negativity with everything out there. some have band failures because of the band itself, others it is because they chose to not eat like they should have in the first place. i have learned to not let the haters get to me

I am not hungry at all in the mornings, so I have a Protein Shake first thing after my morning coffee so i get 1/2 my Protein for the day immediately. usually for lunch is tuna, chicken or egg salad. for dinner, i am a crockpot cooker i find recipes that are band friendly, and kid friendly too. i make sure i get my protein in first, then my veg and some starch. i drink Water throughout the day too. you will get it soon. it takes some time. go to lapband.com and there are some recipes on there for all stages.

might need a slight unfill. it is amazing just taking out a tiny amount will feel soooo much better. i had to have one done a month ago and it felt so good. i wasn't so dang tight that it hurt. i had only 0.2cc taken out and it was great, instant relief.

Dr. Malley is part of that Network who accepts patients from other surgeons. he is in Overland park and his staff and him are awesome. Not sure how much fills and visits are.

you did not fail. you just need to start over with the basics. chalk it up to a lesson learned and start again. yes you have 85 lbs to go, but you have lost 45 so far. that is not failure.

listen to your trainer. you are burning fuel and then you have none left essentially. try some greek yogurt before a workout or a smoothie. you work out more, you burn more, you eat more. you will lose more inches than lbs, there is an almost 2 month "lag time" from inches lost to lbs lost. but it will catch up. i have been told and read that eating more Protein will help you lose the weight as it builds muscle.

i am a respiratory therapist, a lot of walking. i took off a week and did just fine.

wait, this is YOUR decision, not his. do the research and do the surgery that you want and that you feel is best for you. My surgeon does not do the gastric bypass because most people gain all the weight back and he feels it is not successful. he does the banding and the sleeve and says that is up to the patient. did he give the reasons why he feels the band is a better choice? maybe you should consult with another surgeon. I am very happy with my band. but i have a friend who had the sleeve and she has been very successful. everyone is different. it is a tool, not an instant weight loss. yes there are people who are not successful at the band. make a list of the pros and cons of each and go from there. talk to people who have had the band or sleeve. wishing you the best

yep. 1/2 cc can make a difference. i had to have 0.4 cc taken out cause i was way too tight and wow, i felt so much better. still have good restriction but not so much i am uncomfortable.

I too was banded in April 2011 and am down 52 lbs, but 5 dress sizes and am happy with that. I am losing it slowly but that is okay. my doctor and nurse are happy with my progress and so am i! i would not change it for anything. I have had to have a slight unfill last week for the 1st time. Caught a cold, under alot of personal stress right now, so i got too tight. took not even 1/2 cc out and i feel so much better. i can eat but still have good restriction. Yes i have had my vomiting episode, that was not very pleasant and some PB and slime, but i would get the band again if i had to do it over. my doctor stiches the band in place too so the slips are less likely. I love my band!

sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks for you to feel the effects of a fill. it took me 2 weeks to feel the effect of my fill in December, and my nurse was hesitant of doing it cause i am almost maxed out on my fills. i went in last week for my reg checkup and i told her how uncomfortable i was and she took out 0.4 cc and i was amazed at how much better i feel. i still have restriction, but not tight where i am uncomfortable. the weather changes affect some people too. i know when it is really cold or that time of the month, i get tight.
-
some people just don't think about how it mentally affects you. my family felt so guilty about eating in front of me 4 days post op, they didn't want to. LOL! but i was fine with it as i was not hungry at all!

you could be really tight adn might need a slight unfill. i know some foods i just can't eat no matter how well i chew. like sausage i have problems with. so i usually just don't eat it, even though i love it.

Well,
i had to have a slight unfill today and boy did i need it. the past 1 1/2 weeks i have been feeling so stinking tight. Had a cold and alot of drainage, alot of coughing, got my monthly friend and wham, super tight and uncomfortable. She took out a little under 1/2 cc and wow what a huge difference. i feel so much better. still have restriction, but not uncomfortable anymore. amazing how such a little amount can make a huge difference. I got a fill in December and she was hesitant as i am almost maxed out on my amount i can get in my band, it is a 10 cc band. So now i know what it is like to be too tight! Starting over on the exercising tomorrow, have been slacking way too long

i drink the Protein Shakes in the mornings because i can't get food down as i am so tight in the mornings and they keep me full for about 4 hours.
-
i drink Protein Shakes every day still and i am almost 9 months out now. i will continue to drink them, i think that is essential to get you Proteins in each day. i use EAS from Walmart.< /p>

oh i do. my band is so tight in the mornings, so i drink a hot coffee in the morning, sometimes 2 to help loosen it. i can't really eat anything in the mornings because i am so tight, but by noon, i can usually eat. so in the mornings i have my Protein Shake, gets me half my Protein for the day. no during my cycle, the day before and the day i start, oh i am super tight. so i drink warm liquids, creamy Soups during those two days. and drink lots of Water so i don't get all puffy and bloated. my nurse practioner told me to do this, that it is normal to be tighter during periods and in the mornings.

my husband got all weird on me when i started losing weight last summer, about 2 months after i had it done.
i don't know if he was just scared that i was going to change after i lost the weight or what, but it was like he was trying to push me away. i had to assure him that i was not going to change or leave him when i lost the weight. i was skinny when we got together, so why would i leave him when i got skinny again. men are weird sometimes. LOL

i didn't have a set amount to lose, but i cheated on mine, and i did it big. LOL! our neighborhood had a huge cookout/easter egg hunt before i had my surgery, so i pigged out like crazy. i ate so much food it was ridiculous. don't feel bad, we have all done it. you are human. you made a mistake. move on and start over tomorrow. -
sounds like you need to drink warm liquids for a couple of days, you are probaly swollen from the vomiting. if you can keep Water down, then it is not a slip. i can't eat in the mornings. i have a cup of hot coffee first thing in the morning to "loosen" up the band as i am super tight in the AM. then i have a Protein Shake mid morning. then i can eat food around lunch time. during that time of the month, i am super tight so i have liquids for 2 days and then i am fine. can you eat food in the afternoon/evenings?

it takes about 2 months for the scale to catch up to inches lost. it is so easy to become obsessed with the scale. focus on how your clothes feel. weigh only once a week, not every day!

OH i am sooooooo happy today. I have not weighed myself in a few weeks, but one of the football mom's asked me if i had lost more weight. i said no i don't think so. so i hopped on the scale this morning and low and behold I was 191! i couldn't believe it. i had to get on the scale again to make sure last time i weighed i was 202. i had upped my Protein, cut out alot of carbs and have been walking again. i am 31 lbs to my goal and i am estatic. i have not been under 200 in 7 years, since i was pregnant with my first child.
