  1. Some people really dont know when to stop tanning. When you look like my leather purse, you really need to quit!

  2. Took the boys shopping at the KidzMall. They love going cause they get to shop, no adults allowed! lol!

  3. It can take almost 2 months for the scale to "catch up" to inches lost. don't get hung up on the scale, I know it is hard to do that. judge by your clothing sizes I am 6 months out, lost 45 lbs, but am now in a xl shirt, 16 jeans. you will get there.
  4. Anyone have any body that is "jealous" of your weight loss? Mine i believe is my husband. He was so supportive about me getting it, and now since i have lost almost 45 lbs and dropped 4 dress sizes, in an xl shirt now, it seems like he is jealous of me. He has put on what i have lost i think, LOL! but he acts all pissy towards me now, i don't get it. he has gained so much weight this summer from being layed up from an injury and i think he might be a little depressed about that, but then jealous of me at the same time. He used to compliment me on my weight loss, now he is hateful about it. anyone else with this issue??
  5. i wish i could give you advice or tell you something, but i have nothing. My lower back has been hurting so bad as of late, not sure but think it is my bed that is causing the back pain. if i am swollen and i don't chew well enough, i notice alot of shoulder, upper back pain for a little while. i am wondering if you are too tight or swollen. hope it gets better for you.
  6. I personally believe you have a right to sue the crap out of this guy. the makers of realize band, not sure about that, even though the rep did say they had never had that happen. i think you have a case. i would get all your stuff together and meet with some malpractice attorney's. i hope everything works out for you this time around.
  7. Wow, tonight he complimented me several times on how proud he was of me on my weight loss, to keep up the good work. that he needs to do something to and he was sorry for being pissy as of late. lol! i was pleasently surprised. he went to a new doctor about his leg and is finally getting some pain relief, am thinking his pain has been a big contributor to his crankiness. thank you all!

    Feeling A Little Bit Discouraged!

You are completely normal. You are eating some semi solids now and your body is absorbing it. the first 4 weeks is not about weight loss, it is about healing. you are swollen inside and it takes awhile for that to go down, that is why they want you on liquids, then mushies for so long to allow healing. i drink coffee everyday. i did wait until about 4 weeks postop before i had some coffee. i do drink pop from time to time, i work the weekends so i am pooped. i ate alot of creamy soups during my mushy stage, cottage cheese, mashed potato soup. go to www.lapband.com and there are a ton of recipes on there for all stages. and 17 lbs in 3 weeks is awesome.
  9. Enjoying the night off, watching Home Alone with my boys! Loving this time of year!

    Thanksgiving Meals

I am 7 months post op so i didn't have many issues. i know i did eat too much though, but it tasted way to good. LOL you are pretty newly banded i am guessing, so as you get used to it, you will be able to eat things easily and know your limits.

How To Deal With Lap Band Haters?

the smart butt in me would have said to her "well, good for you, then you will continue to be fat and unhealthy." but the nice person that i am, would have just looked at her and said "that is just so sad". don't mind others, they are either ignorant about the band, or just so jealous that you are doing something about your weight and can do something. i have one person i work with who is kind of negative, but doesn't say much since i smarted off to her after a nasty comment. the rest are so supportive and always want to know how i am doing and how great i look and how proud they are of me.
  12. OU just Got Knocked the eff out! LMAO!

    Need Serious Advice/Help!

well, congrats on your surgery. sounds like you are healing well. the rash i am not sure about,i had one around my incisions, but it was from the bandaid type Patches they placed over them that irritated my skin. are you drinking Protein shakes, if not you need to do so. just sip them slowly. you are most likely still swollen, can last up to a month. that is why they don't want you to advance your diet too quickly so you don't do any damage or cause yourself problems. my mushy stage, i ate small curd cottage cheese, apple sauce, pudding, creamy soups yogurts. if you go to www.lapband.com, they have a ton of recipes people have submitted for all the stages, so things do not get so boring. try to drink as much Fluid as you can, getting dehydrated is not a good thing for your digestion. try the Crystal light packets in your Water. thanksgiving might be a little tough. you could always puree everything i know does not sound appealing, but at least you could eat it all I don't even try to eat white bread of any kind, i can eat whole wheat bread as long as it is small bites and i chew well. i don't have issues with Pasta, rice, or even popcorn. i chew it all up well. i can eat tortillas too, just don't do that often. hope all goes well with you, and no question is too much. that is what we are all here for! to give and get advice.
  15. oh wow. i am so sorry that you have had to go through this. I really feel for you. I don't know what a slipped band feels like, i hope i never do, keeping my fingers crosses. But i do hope that things work out for you. You did not fail, it did not work out for you! sending you speedy recovery wishes!

Don't know what to do!! :(

i just drank the slim fast drinks and carnation instant breakfast drinks.
  17. yes, you are still swollen, it will go down. still have gas, it will go away. i used the Mylanta gas chewables for a week to help with the gas and walked around alot.
  18. 20 lbs in one month is great. if it makes you feel better, i am 6 months out and have lost 45 lbs. i did not lose a lb for the past few weeks, not sure what was going on there. everyone is different and will lose at their own pace. i eat pasta, rice and whole wheat bread. pasta actually has 7 grams of protein per serving, so to me, that is not a bad choice. it is what you put with that pasta that can make it bad i walk during the week, also i do alot of walking at my job, on my feet all night. i have been slacking on my cardio/weight lifting, need to get back to doing that. those Kraft cheese cubes are a great snack and good proteins too. i eat some nuts, just chew them up well, i love almonds, just watch the sodium. for that time of the month, i want to eat everything in sight and i bloat. so for the day before and first day of my period, i drink 2 protein shakes and then stick with warm liquids. keeps the fluid going on out so i don't bloat as much and my band does not get all tight on me. i hope this helps and don't fret over losing only 20 lbs, i think that is great.
  19. And by the way, i am an RT also. so i too know about the body and healing!
  20. First off, no one on here is being harsh, they are being honest and real. You can do some serious damage to your "new stomach" eating any kind of solids 3 days post op. your doctor gave you post op instructions for a reason. Second, you came here for advice, and you got advice to not be doing what you are doing. and you did not like what was said so you get mad. if you don't want advice, then don't come here bashing people who are trying to help you. Tell your doctor what you did and i can almost guarantee that he/she will give you the riot act. Solids are a big no no after surgery, you are still very swollen and you could very well already have fluid in your band and not know it. i had 3 cc and had no idea until i went for my first fill. Just be careful on what you eat so you don't cause more harm than good. Yes some people progress better than others, but i really feel that pringles and chicken are a bad, bad idea 3 days post op.
  21. you have not had a fill yet, your appetite is back and you are healed, no longer swollen. i went through the same thing. just wait until you get your first fill and you will see a small difference. sometimes it takes several fills to get good restriction. you are doing fine and it is normal. just watch what you eat and try not to go back to your old habits.

    New

mine was about 5 weeks from seminar to surgery. everyone's insurance is totally different. some require you to jump through hoops, others just approve immediately.

    What did you first eat?

i completely understand what you are feeling, we all do. it is like a mourning of the foods we can no longer eat. i was on liquids for one week, mushies for another week, then soft foods for another week, then onto solids. for my mushies, i ate alot of creamy soups, mashed potatoes and gravy, soft foods i ate soft scrambled eggs with cheese, cottage cheese and yogurts. i still can eat Pasta, just not alot of it of course, and i eat small bites and chew it up well. i still love soups, i eat them all the time and they do fill me up. i even eat chinese and mexican food, i just make wiser choices now. the one thing i do miss is deep dish pizza, i can eat pizza if it is really thin crust.
  24. OMG, Since i had my band placed, i don't know if it is me, or what but i have been noticing how much people eat and that they eat soooooo much food and eat these huge bites. And sometimes it kind of grosses me out. I don't know if i am more aware of it since i eat slower and take little bites. My husband polishes off so much food and i guess i never noticed it before, but i do now. anyone else like this???

Am I Tight? Has Lap Band Slipped? Help!

wow, i am really feeling for you right now. i don't know what to tell you. wish i could. i am tight in the mornings, can't eat food, have protein shakes, but by mid afternoon, i am looser and can eat food. are you vomiting alot or just sometimes? if you have a slip, i would think you could not keep anything down at all and would be having reflux like crazy. i am wondering if you are swollen and too tight. have you tried just warm liquids for a couple of days? i hope things get better for you soon.
