    Softs after fills

small curd cottage cheese is good, lots of protein too. i like to have tomato and potato soups for my mushy stage. also chicken noodle soup is soft.
  4. wow, that is terrible. that person should sue him for there money lost in hotels and flights. that is messed up. should also check out the texas licensing board. i am sure he has had violations on his record. oh and he should be reported to the board as that is unethical in his practice.

    Band Bashers

you are going to find a basher for anything. no it does not work for everyone, but then on the same token, alot of those it did not "work" for, they did not do as they should have, ate right and exercised. the band is not an instant fix, you can't eat whatever you want. if you do, then there is no point of getitng it. it helps you control your portion sizes, but you ultimately have to choose what goes in your mouth. yes, i have made not very wise decisions when eating, it is the emotional eating that got me to the point of being fat. but i just get right back on the wagon and i am fine. the band is one leg of a 3 legged stool. diet and exercise are the other two, without them, the band is useless. i think alot peoples problem with the band is they want the weight to come off right away and they want an instant fix and they think they can still eat mcdonalds every day. i choose the band so i could lose the weight slowly as that is healthier, and the elasticity in your skin has time to "catch up" to the weight lost. my surgeon likes us to be in the "sweet spot", meaning losing 1 to 2 lbs per week. that is 10 lbs a month, so in theory one could lose 120 lbs in a year, that is awesome. i love my band, and don't regret one bit. even when i ate too much and threw up, only did that once, will never do that again. the first few weeks are a little rough, but to me it was totally worth it. i have 2 friends, one is 2 yrs out and lost 75 lbs and looks great, the other is 1 yr out and lost 60 lbs. and neither one regret their decision. good luck to you on your journey.
  9. welcome. are you seeing your primary or going to see a lapband surgeon? i just went directly to the surgeon, totally bypassed my regular doctor. my regular doctor knows about me getting the lapband, but i did not go get his permission. he has been totally supportive and thinks it is great, so does my obgyn. i have recieved a ton of positive responses, no one has been negative or told me that i took the easy way out. they all want to know more about the lapband. i have had mine for over 4 months now and do not regret it one bit. yes i have only lost 35 lbs, but i have lost 3 dress sizes and my back no longer hurts, i feel so much better, have way more energy, eating healthier, and so is my family. i can't do a complete workout without feeling like i am going to keel over and die i was skinny when i got married 8 yrs ago, and i want to be that girl again. i had 2 kids back to back and could never get the pregnancy weight off. i am now 20lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight and i am so excited. my advice is talk to people, read the good and the bad, make a list of the pros and cons of having the band or just staying fat, do the research, talk to a surgeon, go to a WLS seminar and get the info. it took me over a year to decide this is what i needed to do for ME!!!! wishing you luck on your journey and know that what ever decision you make, it is the best one for YOU!!!

    Pity, party of one.......

we all know how you feel. the first 2 weeks are what is called "banders hell". if you knew about it, you wouldn't have gone through with it, not many would have. it will get better. don't do the clear liquids crap. that is unhealthy and is not good for you. drink protein shakes, eat some jello--i let it melt in my mouth before swallowing. give it time, you had it done for a reason. no one said that it is a simple recovery, it is an adjustment and a new lifestyle. it will get better, i promise. just the first few weeks are sucky once you get on the mushy stage it is so much better. the gas is the worst. try the mylanta gas chewables, walk around, use a heating pad on your shoulder if it is hurting. how long do you have to be on "clear liquids"? some doctors are more strict than others. i was on liquids for one week, and it was not clear liquids. i had protein shakes, jello, popcicles, broth with a little tomato soup added. go to www.lapband.com and they have some great recipes for all the stages. wishing you luck. it does get better.

    Feeling weird

i was super nervous right before, did not get any sleep the night before. yes the Clear Liquids suck, but the band is worth it to me. the 2 weeks after surgery is called "banders hell". i was so happy when i could have Soup. lol! tasted fantastic. i would not trade this band for anything. it is my tool to help me.
  13. i am sure there are some proteins you can add to the salads, but eating a salad everyday for every meal is going to suck and get old. omelets are not bad, good protein. do you have a choice of what goes in it? cereal is a good choice, the milk has protein. i wish i could give you more ideas. hope it all works out for you.
  14. oh wow, i have no idea. i am so sorry you are experiencing such issues. i do hope you find out what is going on and it gets better soon.

No more Constipation, NOW diarrhea :/

that sucks. from one extreme to another. are you on mushy's yet? when you eat more solids, it will get better. stay away from the laxatives, obviously

    Fill Bruising

i don't know. i bruise a little bit with my fills, call and ask your doctor.
  18. Ignore the scale, go by how your clothes fit. i am down 35 lbs but have lost 3+ dress sizes. my nurse says it takes about 2 months before the scale catches up with the inches lost, kinds of lag time. sucks but that is how it is. keep on doing what you are doing. it is normal to hit plateaus.

    Sharp pain

i know if i drink anything too fast, i get pain. i think it is the left side because the band is on the left side, not positive though. you might not have a fill, but there is a little restriction, you just don't notice it. most likely the doctor put some saline in during surgery. drinking and eating fast can cause gas too and that is painful.
  20. i did not get any real restriction until my 4th fill. i too was back to eating almost what i used to before my fills. don't get discouraged, it will happen. keep on working out.

    stopped losing weight...???

i don't think you are eating enough. i have a Protein shake every morning as i am not hungry in the mornings. for lunch, i have some protein such as tuna or chicken or egg salad on lettuce leafs, with some tomatoes. for dinner, i eat protein with veggies and maybe some Pasta. before bed, i do have a yogurt or some ff pudding. i drink liquids throughout the day.
  22. what makes eating so much food that you about to burst fun? so eating less will make you less fun? that is horrible to think that and a bunch of BS. i still love to cook, whether i can eat it or not. i choose to cook healthier now and yes i eat way less, have saved alot of money on groceries too. my kids are eating better cause mommy is eating better. i still drink a pop, not everyday, but will drink a couple on the weekends. i don't think your loved ones know enough about the band. i love my band and would do it all over again, and again. yeah it sucks not being able to eat certain foods, but you know what? they were not good for me anyways. you need to do this for you, not anyone else.

    When Will I Learn???

completely agree with Lisa. our weight issues are not just about the foods we eat, it is in our minds. we have programmed ourselves to eat that way, and now we have to change that. the band is to help you eat less, but you have to change it in your mind. for the longest time, i would put too much on my plate, knowing that i would never eat it all, but that mindset is already in place and i still am trying to break it. it is a nasty, vicious cycle that we have to work on everyday to break. i forget i have the band sometimes, until i eat something i shouldn't. you will learn, sometimes it takes a while
  24. mylanta gas chewables saved my life. the protein shakes gave me gas right after the surgery, but when i started solid foods, not near as much. also, stay away from straws, makes the gas worse. cottage cheese is a good soft food, lots of protein too. but not something all the time when you get released for solid food, as it is considered a slider food. alot of the creamy soups have protein in them, so i add milk and cheese to add to the protein.

    CPAP Machine

I am not sure, depends on your surgeon. i do know that if you have one, you need to bring it with you so in case it needs to be put on you during recovery, it is there. a lady had her surgery right after me and she was on her cpap during her recovery. no every one has to wear it, but i know that they want it there just in case.
